Today's 8% rise in the price of WTI says otherwise 😇 Even if processing facilities could be quickly brought back on line, there's limited/no egress with tankers blocked at the SOH; life is good! 😁

No disputing that the Iranian regime has to go, but it's done via coalition (GW I, GW II) ... not renegades doing their own thing. It goes wrong ... and Americans abroad, become a target for fanatics near everywhere. Not much freedom when you are already branded an 'ugly american', and cannot leave the homeland compound gates without threat of an incident. Everybody tarred with the same brush.

Support the troops; but see the world as it is, not how you would like it to be. The US is not making any friends, allies are backing away, and this will be an ugly bar fight. The US/Israel may be big and strong; but they are only two, and there are many more of 'them' ...  eventually the US/Israel drowns atop a heap of skulls. Another Vietnam.

Tough decisions are made by courageous leaders - which only leaves the USA & Israel.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world just watches, waiting for the right time to jump on the bandwagon.

Some things never change.

like why are they so proud to be so stupid all in the name of the loyalty to “the party”, even when it means the abandonment of things they otherwise hold in high regard, such as independent thinking?

Yeah exactly. There's something baked into our ideology or identity or something, that when the stakes are raised, it's somehow not OK to be wrong or change your opinion? Or meet someone halfway?

The kneejerk reaction to dig the heels in deeper, apparently that's the only option? It's weird.

I had a discussion with a guy at the bar yesterday - he's all about "enforcing all the laws equally".

OK sure, I say: Round up all the illegals and deport them, they broke the law and should deal with the consequences.

But if I suggest we do the same to Hegseth who violated the Geneva convention, apparently that's total bullshit and he's got 100 reasons why.

No room for a middle ground in politics, I guess. It's exhausting!

Well alright then, let's go back to drinking Coors banquet and Rumplemintz and hot chocolate.

Now we know what you are in to backtothebeach!  🤣

He used to also be called "Randy Andy" back then...so he was quite known to be the Queen's lady's man son out of the three!

I think it's less what he did, but who he was/is when he did it.  Combine that with selling information for money, and the look is not a good one for the Royals...since they've never had any!  ☺️

You can't kick Harry in the teeth for just marrying Meghan Markle, and let Trump...er, I mean Andrew get away with being best friends with history's most notorious pedo!  Cheers!

I'm looking forward to the mea culpas from Hegseth's many critics. The man was slandered and ridiculed by the left. Drunkard; womanizer; frat boy; Fox personality. etc.

Meanwhile, our military has shown phenomenal execution; and recruitment has skyrocketed, reversing a long decline.

The man deserves a lot of credit.

Don't forget the best ax thrower the world has ever seen!

How can a guy so jacked be the world's worst athlete?  Biggest fucking asshole in the Trump Administration!  Cheers!

Interesting that MAGA seemed so concerned about Biden’s mental acuity and yet not one word about their droopy-mouthed, stroke-patient of a president. Weird, I wonder what changed. Apparently tax cuts are a cure-all. 🤑

Hey, he will eventually end another war in the Middle East (one he started)! So he should be a shoe in for the Peace Prize.

Then he will be able to claim credit for each country that Iran attacks.

And some think Trump is stupid.  Peace prize on its way ....

Way beyond the point of caring about friends or coalitions.  The US has all the coalition it needs in Israel.  The rest of the World is largely feckless.  They have been willing to sit idly by and do exactly nothing, which is what their opinions are cumulatively worth when it comes to doing dirty work.  The job will get done.  The outcome remains to be seen.

He didn't start this war...it was Biden!  Don't you remember?  Man cwericb, you are starting to forget a lot.

Also:

  • Noeme never killed her puppy
  • Lauren Boebert never gave a handjob to a guy in the theatre
  • MTG never yelled during the State of the Union
  • No U.S. citizens have been killed by ICE
  • The Obamas were never portrayed as monkeys
  • No one ever scolded the Supreme Court judges that voted against tariffs
  • Federal courts didn't let go of Abel Garcia
  • No U.S. media outlets, journalists, talk show hosts were ever threatened or punished in the last 12 months
  • No conflicts of interest in any Trump family or associate business dealings since returning to office
  • The U.S. did not just assassinate the entire leadership group of a sovereign nation without Congressional Approval to go to war
  • And lastly, of course...Trump exonerated from Trump-Epstein files!

Cheers!

Golf clap, golf clap, well done.

He's going to get the same stagflationary impetus Biden got from the Russia-Ukraine war.  Only this was self-inflicted.

How's Bessent going to spin this.

They will lower interest rates 600, 700, 800 percent!  Powell could have done that too, but that's not how math works!  🤣 Cheers!

Yeah, never mind all those details, look at all the wars he will/may be able to to stop when he stops attacking Iran! Nobel here he comes!

Fourteen more wars to be settled! How could he not get the peace prize - even if only half the wars he started quit fighting?

I mean, after how many decades spent in the Middle East, I get why people are nervous about forever wars.

Id prefer to not have more friends and family members die for no reason.

Lets hope this is over quickly.

This video is a good listen for Canadian board members. I don't agree with everything Doomberg says. What I like is his non-consensus views.

Doomberg take (34:20 minute mark):

Mental model to understand the war: US is short on air defence missles because of the war in Ukraine.

  • Iran is a war in attrition: US needs a quick knockout blow.
  • As long as Iran can continue to send missles in volume it suggests a military structure that is intact.
  • Every American missile used in the Iran war is one that can't be used in Ukraine or Taiwan.
  • If Iran can outlast the supply of interceptor missles in the region their position improves markedly.
  • The chess move: when the US runs low on missles, China will get its opportunity to make a move on Taiwan.
  • The bigger picture: WWIII started in 2014. We just don't realize it yet.

-----------

We all know the only game Trump can play is checkers. The Chinese play chess. May you live in interesting times!

Yeah Cubs, I admire your tenacity.  People are emotional, I get that.  Everyone here has a point of view and that’s cool.  I appreciate guys like @Spekulatius that keep it analytical.

As a proud member of "the lunatic crowd" I will have you know that I have never said anything about 'forever wars'. You're are just still pissed about that little incident about Canada burning down the White House.

On the contrary, of these 14 new wars that Mr. Trump has started, at least half, (well, maybe a third) will be settled when Mr. Trump gets tired of attacking Iran. Then Donald J Trump will claim settling more wars and become a leading contender for the No Bell peace prize.

Onward and upward.

I definitely admire Doomberg.  He develops mental models and adjusts them as facts change.  He isn’t always right.  However his saying in a missile war of attrition time favors Iran does make me sit up and take notice.
