Very little John honestly.  I mostly watch history programmes on YouTube now when I get a chance to watch tv.  I used to watch sports much more than I do now.  Nowadays it just running around after kids, which is much more fun.

Seriously here, thank you for the elaboration and explanation, @Sweet,

Sure, personal proportions always matters. We should not loose personal perspectives on our personal lives because of this geopolitical fuzz.

concerned as a US citizen to see the gradual breakdown of democratic, constitutional division of powers and gradual undermining of civil rights.

I just have to laugh when I see these broad sweeping generalizations about "the loss of our democracy" and other BS.

The powers are well defined in the US Constitution and US Bill of Rights- and so far - the current POTUS is just cleaning up in the Supreme Court in the cases regarding powers of the Executive Branch of the US government.

It's really stunning how badly Trump is beating all the law fare when his cases reach the ultimate arbiters of separation of powers.

One year ago Vance told the europeans that we have no freedom of speech.

Now he is saying the U.S. ahtletes that they should not talk about politics.

He is a totally vain ignorant idiot! 🙂

I think he can believe both things.  When I’m watching comedy, or sport, and some dickhead starts talking politics I just turn it off.  I believe in freedom of speech but by the same token I just want people to shut the fuck up and let me chill out and watch the tv without listening to your BS.

The bigger question is why JD Vance is hanging out with his large entourage at the Winter Olympics? What is he doing there?

I don’t turn on the  Winter Olympics to see his visage either.

@Charlie, @Sweet & @Spekulatius,

Please be aware of J.D. Vance's extraordinary talents for 'staying centered', attention seeking, always in the middle, centre, of where 'things happen', what ever it takes of inconsisistencies for him.

He's is likely the worst ever opportunistic filthy, disgusting turncoat I may ever have experienced in my whole life.

First, glowing, vigorous POTUS opponent, then suddenly VPOTUS, office in West Wing, and official residence provided in Number One Observatory Circle :

There is no way, I would ever trust this person in a deal involving a second hand car, neither buying, nor selling.

Just watch him - carefully! - And stay clear of him, what ever it takes!

Mike [ @cubsfan ],

I refer you to eventually discuss it with @LC, by picking up his post originating mine, as I have no vote in this, as a non-US citizen.

It doesen't really matter, @LC 😉,

No need here to be thin skinned.

It all about trying to understand individual perspectives and proportions among each of us, for all of us CofB&F members, to get a better understanding of what's going on! 💡👍

And in that respect your comments above certainly have merit, I would personally say.

On a serious note to your post above, let me just say, that I understand you're appalled, upset and concerned as a US citizen to see the gradual breakdown of democratic, constitutional division of powers and gradual undermining of civil rights.

So would I also be, for sure, if I perceieved the same thing happening here in Denmark.

Not sure what you are referring to, John - as I said you are anything but boring.  Some posters here OTOH need to have their daily hissy fits.  As for separation of powers in the US, they are as strong as ever in spite of the narratives expressed by some who just can't grasp the concept that elections have consequences.  As an American I often chuckle at everyone's supposed expertise as to our legal system and constitutional law.  Most got their law degrees from the NY Times and network news media and those degrees are worth the price they paid for them.

I designed, wrote, and brought to vote a border control bill to give me exactly what I wanted.

But days later I voted against my own bill because Donny Trump told me so.

Who am I?

I'm an independent, separate, and strong Republican Senator!

Sure!, @Spekulatius,

No fun at all to be an American athlete in Milano by now, because of geopolitics! It's kind of sad money and politics has totally saturated the Olympics. 💡🥺🙄 - Not good at all ...

Yep, some female ice skaters freed the peaches as @Parsad would say and male ski jumpers “penisgate” for an few extra meters as well as  the Olympic village running out of condoms were the main topics outside of winning and losing on the ice and snow.

These Olympics are so much better than the Russian ones in Sochi 4 years ago.

Interesting:

Orbán has remained firmly committed to purchasing Russian energy despite efforts by the EU to wean off such supplies, and received an exemption from U.S. sanctions on Russian energy after a November meeting in the White House with Trump.

Orwell called this double-think. It hard to say in the countries, but Orban is deeply unpopular and could be toast with the next election. He ran Hungary into the ground.

A good insight, that can be an explanation of why Trump is so inclined towards Putin and Russia.

In Russia, formal property rights don't really work. The biggest assets are controlled by one person, with help of his relatives, the "family" of close friends, and their relatives. Putin can easily promise and grant a million square kilometers with deposits of oil and rare metals to Trump directly and personally, with minimal paper trail.
