"We’re excited to announce that we’ve signed a merger agreement with TAE Technologies, the world’s leading nuclear fusion company with the proven technology to build the first utility-scale fusion power plants."

Great entertainment, truly, to watch the President's truth social entity touch every scuzzbucket public equity market game imaginable.....coming public via SPAC, jumping on the bitcoin treasury company fad at its peak and now hitching a ride on fusion! nuclear power via a merger 🤣

Last quarter the company had $972k in REVENUES

When you get down to it (TMTG, Memecoins) the President of the United is running a boiler room. Wild.

Bernie adopting the EU model of economics...

He is a bit early but if it turns out that all the datacenters being build are going to jack up power prices for everyone as well as  regular commercial consumers, I expect to see quite a bit of backslash. I see already some backslash regarding datacenter build here even in NC where building stuff is about as easy as anywhere.

^^^^ Nah, you're just pissed that Trump is making Biden and Obama look like the total failures they are - dividing and destroying the country - and setting the world on fire abroad.

Cubs you can't seem to mention Trump without mentioning Obama or Biden. ODS? BDS?

Not referring to my friend Cubs, but I think that in general many Trump lovers don't have the moral compasses to accept how much of a deranged tyrant he is...thus it's easier to take any of the bad things he does and compare it to the worst things of any particular previous President has done. And then they can conclude that it's the same old story as always, justifying their support in their own minds.

Only problem is that he is the full package of bad. Take all the bad things about Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton...Trump has all of them! So if you pick out any one Trump flaw, it's easy to find something comparable in history.

Well maybe except the insurrection part.

Just watched the movie Nuremberg, pretty awesome. Gotta say I see some similarities in personality traits.

Also quite happy to be in the UK right now after 10 years in NY, as dysfunctional as it is here too politically

Sure there might be power issues. I think crypto mining should be banned because it provides no utility

But the leftists are very similar in that they are resisting change and make everyone less competitive:

Ignoring the obvious space race / nuclear arms race comparison with China, I think this idea is laughable on its face.

Bernie wants the development of AI to benefit the masses instead of the 1%. He acts as if this technology is evolving on its own, and we should be able to put it in a box to harness its benefits for the common man.

But really capitalism itself (and the 1%) are enabling the creation of this technology in the first place. The government isn't going to develop AI, and even if it did, it's going to be for military application. The best and brightest are going into AI because they want to claw their way to the 1% or 0.1% or 0.01%. Those that already have money are funding it by trying to make more.

It seems like some sort of AI tax would be more likely to achieve benefits for "all of us" than a moratorium on development. I think there's a pretty strong argument that "all of us" are already benefiting from AI, even if we don't have universal basic income and healthcare. I for one have been able to completely stop reading food blogs whenever I want to try a new recipe, which is a great benefit indeed.

This argument really reminds me of the arguments surrounding pharmaceutical R&D. Everyone should be able to have reasonably priced diabetes care, but who's going to develop new drugs and get them approved if they can't make a good return after factoring in the losers? I think the progressive argument for regulating pharmaceuticals is actually much stronger than for AI because: 1) Much of the pharmaceutical research is building on government funded university research; and 2) these companies are selling the same drugs for much lower prices to every other developed nation.

Just to clarify, maybe there are other valid reasons to regulate AI. But this whole class war nonsense is getting old.

You just hate it when I mention the destruction these 2 losers hoisted upon America and the world.

It's completely relevant in any discussion of US policy and results - given those bozos ran the country for 12 years.

Just look at their most famous accomplishments:

1) Foreign affairs:  funded the re-armament of the Iran nuclear program and Iran's world-wide terror campaign, wreaking terrorism upon the world.

2) Domestic affairs: Eliminated the Southern borders allowing 12 Million (just Biden) illegals, including several hundred thousand criminals entry - causing vast amounts of crime & destruction of social services to American citizens.

3) Federal Corruption: Targeted their leading political candidate for 300 years in prison with full weaponization of all Federal Security agencies.

The doozy is that this was a joint Obama/Biden campaign to manufacture evidence and lock Trump up.

That will be their lasting legacy along with Obama cronies running the Federal Gov for 4 years while lying to the public for 4 years about Biden's mental incapacitation.

Get a clue @cwericb

I mean do we need to look any further as to "why Trump" than the current UNANIMOUS voting amongst lefties looking to block the banning of sex change surgeries for minors? Its disgusting.

They are perverted clowns who give the rest of the TDS folks a bad rep. But this is a perfect example of voting on emotion rather than reason, and national vs. local politics. My kid isn't getting a sex change regardless of who is President!

Just don't move to CA or WA state where it is illegal  for the schools to inform you as a parent that your child is transitioning. Because when you as a parent find out and resist - the state will remove the children from your happy home.

Well yes, you are right, except for as Mike mentions, once the local creeps start undermining your rights as a parent.

But bigger picture, 211/214 out of these perverts voted to block this...you have to ask, how in the fuck does the 99% representation, translate to something policy wise a normal person can get behind? Or further, when you look at how voting goes, how theres unanimous support, across the board, for ALWAYS raising taxes on the best citizens? Is there, like can you go find me one...anywhere, a Dem besides John Fetterman or Joe Manchin(two guys I like but are quickly being thrown out of their own party by radicals) who staunchly support NOT raising taxes and oppose the mutilization of children? Cuz otherwise voting gets pretty simple and easy from a policy standpoint...as @73 Reds has mentioned many times.

As the ignorant European [Dane] I am about of lot basic stuff related to USA, I kindly ask, in the above context about sex change for kids, what does 'kid' mean in this context, and what is the US age limit for being responsible for own actions and decisions [personal liability]?

Thank you in advance.

I'm probably more libertarian leaning than most even on this board (I loathe taxes) and also spending (Obamacare was terrible for the country IMO). So yes in any given arena/sporting event I'm all for the fiscal conservatives. Just I think this tyrant is a threat to the arena itself. So the policies are nearly irrelevant IMO and temporary tax/spending hikes is tolerable in the short run.

What was the specific content of the proposal shot down by democrats 211/214 in that regard? I don't recall having read about it anywhere.

And that’s fair. But it needs to at least be acknowledged that Trumps prominence is largely the response and backlash to how over the top the perverts and creeps have gotten with their agenda, especially when they were in power.

This idea that the government is entitled to your money, that they know better than you do as a parent, and that the expansion of said government must always be occurring, is abominable to many. To the same degree and conviction that you validly hold your opinion.

Now of course, the NYT with its agenda is going to try to frame this sympathetically to the liberals…but the content speaks for itself.

But that's why we have elections every 2 years.  IMO the arena was being threatened most by open borders.

100%, I think the rational people (moderates, RINOs) acknowledge that. Sadly most of the left didn't, and repeated the same mistakes pre 2024 as they did in 2016 and they continue to do now lol.

Having said that, I do think the backlash by the MAGA cult is more about "owning the libs" vs. voting based on policy. That's why nothing he says or does matters to the core 32% base or whatever the number is.

You mean in terms of illegal voting? Very few instances of that.

Yes the open borders were bad - I just don't think it threatened the rule of law itself.

^^ of course, there is some BS in there. The MAGA "cult" wants a return to what made America what it used to be: accountable, traditional American values, and a Federal Government that actually works for the citizens - not the DC cesspool we've had for years (Republicans included).

I've no interest in saying "I was right" - only a return to sanity and accountability.

Not so much illegal voting but downright gerrymandering.  The left complains about how some states attempt redistricting in order to favor republican voting districts but are fine with allowing anyone into the Country who will support their policies of giveaways and lawlessness.  Its just farcical.
