John, this thread is so far removed from investing, that I have to correct you on it.  This thread will never go back to investing!  But I would rather have that then see it spread to actual investing threads and posts.

Actually, when I was in Paris and sitting in a patio cafe on the Champs de Elysée, two older men sitting next to me would cat-call good looking women walking by.  But it was very weird...not the usual New York "Wow, you're a good looking broad!"  It was like a couple of short hisses!  Never heard a cat-call like that anywhere.  Very strange...and it never worked for them!  Yet they relentlessly kept trying.  😆  Also, anywhere in North America, they would be called out by other patrons for that...but in Paris...fair game.  Cheers!

There are so many gay Republicans, plenty in the administration and on right wing media.  One of my gay cousins is a diehard MAGA type, but he's pissed beyond belief at the wacko trans movement that he feels he gets lumped into. Gays have it great in America - not so much in Gaza or Kabul though!

Yeah, but that's the thing...it's both the left and right lumping the LGB population into the TQ++ group.  Not sure why it has to be that way.  Cheers!

Isn’t there some poetic justice to all these? Getting Fat Latisha for a loan? Bolton now for classified docs. Comey for lying about Russia. Kinda the epitome of that whole what goes around comes around thing.

I think it's that way because LBGTQ people recognize that the bigger the group, the more influence (and safety) that group has. In one of the more dangerous political areas, you're stronger as one group of 100 people than two groups of 50 people.

 

So, it's largely self-categorization, not something forced upon these groups by the right or the left.

I think that question is largely dependent on population growth in Canada and commodity prices. If you think gold/oil/metals pricing will be high that's a big tailwind.

 

The other big piece of the market is our big domestic oligopolies (banks/insurance/telecoms/grocers). These will likely follow Canadian population growth, imo. There has been a pushback against the huge immigration rates of the late Trudeau years, but I think Canadians are generally pro-immigration, and immigrant constituencies have significant political power.

Yet all of the political blowback of recent years has been on the TQ+. Specifically the ideology getting spread in our public schools by activists and approved curriculums.

Sadly enough , Germany does not deliver Taurus missiles to Ukraine either, despite Merz implying such before the election. I am not sure what happened there, it’s just radio silence on this matter.

 

Its true, that Donny has a hard on for Putin, but Europe and particularly Germany are not leading either. I suspect if Germany or other European countries do more and it shows an impact, Trump might actually be following.

You have to wonder why the weapons transfer to Ukraine needs a public announcement.  Send the weapons and if the Russians accuse you shrug your shoulders and say they aren’t ours.

This is true as well. Just give Ukraine weapons and see what we’ll instead of endless debates and saying “we don’t have enough“ but then not making more either.

 

They really put their weakness on display here .
