There was always a plan for two additional headquarters, even before the New York site was canceled.  Subsequent work from home trends have delayed a significant part of the DC (Virginia) area headquarters.  But as a result so to have tax incentives and subsidies been reduced by a commensurate level.

Incentives for big corporations, if practiced by all the states, is a freebie for big corporations.  This is similar to how low corporate tax, practice by countries like Ireland, is(?)/was a freebie for big 'multinational' corporations.

 

Here's a podcast from 2016 that details two states, Kansas and Missouri, offering incentives for Applebee to 'build' in their state.  The result is not totally unforeseen, if some people with a little bit of knowledge on game theory, sit down and think about it.

 

IMHO, it was a wise move for NY.

Are you referring to the promised 2 phase project of which phase 2 has been postponed indefinitely? I’m sure if New York had given up the tax incentives to win the selection, you’d be on here ranting and raving about how dumb the state is for giving a trillion dollar company tax incentives.

Since we are now referring to old development projects as a means to inflate our penis size, anyone remember Trump’s huge 10B Foxconn project in Wi, that was projected to bring in 13,000 jobs? It’s turned out to be a 674m project that’s created an estimated 1,500 jobs.  Hopefully those tax breaks and infrastructure investments worked out well for the state! 

I can’t understand why NY would be hesitant to extend tax credits to Amazon…who ended up not even completing their project in VA.

So back to Don Jr.  You don't find it all questionable that a life-long NY real estate developer is now a board member of a pharmaceutical company?  The same pharmaceutical company that is hosting an event for Trump administration officials.

 

It's interesting that Trump Jr. has spent his whole life in real estate, but now all of a sudden, in the last year or so, he has become a leading expert on "advising companies." I wonder what changed in the last year?  It must just be one of those mid-life reinventions we so often hear about. Nothing to see here, this dude should be celebrated for his foresight and business acumen!

Sure if you totally ignore the context in which his firm was the lead investor of the most recent funding round….if you have any clue how the world works, especially private/venture capital, no it wouldn’t be shocking and no you wouldn’t think it’s “questionable” at all that a lead investor gets a board seat. Sheesh! This is pee wee stuff.
