LOL, our tax dollar at work. Does the extra money spent get subtracted from DOGE savings ?

 

ICE is going to be a monster organization when it’s all said and done, with a huge budget. They are probably employ more people than they deport.

It will be very interesting to watch the bottom quartiles real wages over the next few years - definitely an argument to say that their bargaining power over employers is going to greatly increase in direct proportion to how succesful ICE is at ramping up deportations (& scaring away prospective illegal immigrants which I think is where the BIG 'lost workers' numbers already are).

Everyone basically agrees immigration is out of control, not exactly sure what others think the solution was going to be.

Should have put a smily face on the end of it.......but you know.....now when I think about.....for certain job categories & activities....hotel room cleaning lady for example......I think you'd be very surprised at the % level at which illegal migrants effectively supply the category. Suspect if Trump keeps this up your going to find a lot of industries squealing in pain cause they can't fill the lowest level & least desirable positons.

It's shocking how desperate they are and how willing they are to waste money. A GS 14 is the top salary you can get as a non-supervisor. So they are offering me the top salary, a $50k signing bonus, allowing me to get paid AND keep collecting my pension. 

 

Am I qualified for that role? No. I literally don't know what the statute that they enforce is called. I am not a litigator, so if you sent me to Court for hearings, I wouldn't know which side of the court my side sits on. A first year law graduate who worked as an intern doing in immigration would be more qualified than me for this role.

Why do you think he's been pushing for lower interest rates?    What is truly amazing is how much emphasis is placed on daily/weekly/monthly economic data points whereas most people who live and work are all too familiar with the state of things and could care less about what is being reported.

The emphasis is put on the numbers because they put a tangible value on exactly what's going on in the economy instead of relying upon what people feel is going on.

This is a good point, it's extremely hard to get hired right now as a white collar worker. That's the reality, don't care what job report says.
