Well there is the part where Iran state media just denied the ceasefire. Which is odd because its not like Trump to announce that something has been done when it hasn't.
Gregmal Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Nice, so we're already hard at work looking for and hoping there's no ceasefire, so we can satisfy our daily itch to "get Trump"...

No....we are literally reacting to Trump's statement and the response from Iran. And given Trumps repeated history of, well, lying, its sad that we look to Iran to actually believe what he's stating or not. I'd love there to be a ceasefire. But its sad that nobody (other than Cubs) believes our own president until another country confirms or denies it.

Parsad Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Diego Luna's fantastic monologue about immigration on Jimmy Kimmel tonight. Cheers!

The US and Israel deserve an "A" grade thus far. Haters will be delusional haters no matter what. They sound and act more laughable every day. So be it.

On a humanitarian basis, I feel for migrants attempting to better their lives. They have become pawns in American politics. Why would the Dems leave the border unprotected for four years? Did they think that would be a force for stability? It sure wasn’t in NYC. I don’t know when or how the US will come to a sane immigration policy. Doesn’t seem likely in the current political environment. Maybe it will take real pressure on the labor force, but what do I know? I am always so full of doubts.

If he is taken out, a new Ayatollah is already chosen who looks exactly like the old one. i think taking out the Republican guard machinery and leadership has a larger effect.
Spekulatius Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Interesting fact- Israel fiscal deficit is 6.9% of GDP, about the same than ours and they are fighting a war. https://tradingeconomics.com/israel/government-budget
Blake Hampton Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Interest rates should never go up. They should be immediately lowered to zero and remain there forever. Also, Trump has an economics degree from Wharton.
Gregmal Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Well if you can point towards price instability/inflation that’s plaguing us go for it. Instead every Q Jerry’s got a new “concern”;(not dissimilar from people who are always afraid the end of the world is just round the corner) the latest being that now he’s essentially equating future inflation concerns with screen staring at oil prices. Tariffs were a dud for him, another failed forecast. And all that continues to prop up the backwards looking CPI stuff is housing, which is elevated because of ….drumroll, higher rates.

Blake Hampton Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 I think Trump should make himself the next Fed chair.

They want to leverage border security issues to push forward their own agenda.

I don’t know the details of the bill, though it was pushed by Dems to say that Republicans are resisting the fix of the border. They are still pushing that talking point even after Trump fixed the border day 1. Jill Biden or whoever was running the country then didn’t want to stop the flow of unvetted illegal migrants.

Yea, it was floated by democrats during election year to solve the problem they created, the problem in fact, that they basically ran on; remember Joe running on open borders and the surge of migration post his inauguration? So sure, it was scuttled by Republicans, but that’s the game and I’d have more sympathy if the resolution was genuine but creating a problem and then solving it at the last minute so you can claim some victory ahead of elections is bs.

Just go back and look at the last several administrations. Trump 2.0 is trying to blow its wad on big beautiful bill. Biden pushed the inflation reduction act. Trump 1.0 pushed tax cuts, covid stimulus, and tried to kill Obamacare. Obama pushed the ACA. Immigration reform could have likely been passed at any of these junctures. Politicians love having a problem to blame on the other side. It’s quite unfortunate because I suspect most American voters would like to see more legal immigration to this country, and a path to legality for those who have been here decades keeping their heads down.
