  1. After listening to the recent Joe Rogan podcast with Kash Patel, I looked this one up. Doesn't excuse any violence on January 6, but for context:
  2. Holy cow. Up another 40% today. A MSTR wannabe, right?
  3. Nothing about the TSX 60: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/s-amp-p-dow-jones-indices-announces-changes-to-the-s-amp-p-tsx-composite-index-898335010.html
  4. In a post above, now edited, you posted: '--- Thanks, it's been fun. I'll see myself out...' Please stick to your word for more than 5 minutes. What do you get out of posting a newsfeed and snarky oneliners on COBF all day long? How about going on X and gathering a following there.
  5. It’s an easy listen because it’s the original speech by Charlie and you can laugh along with the audience at his jokes.
  6. Just listen to it: https://archive.org/details/CharlieMungerOnHumanMisjudgment (original speech by Charlie)
  7. Huh? What just happened? About 27000 shares bought/sold after hours at 2335.08.
  8. Way too harsh and counterproductive! Also, as usual, shoddy reporting by Yahoo. How about clarifying what exactly happened. According to perplexity: "Yes, Kasper Juul Eriksen was in the U.S. with an expired green card. The core issue leading to his detention was that he failed to submit Form I-751, the "Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence," by the required deadline in 2015. This form is necessary for conditional residents to remove conditions on their green card and obtain permanent residency. Because he missed this filing deadline, his conditional green card status effectively expired, which ICE used as grounds to detain him during his final citizenship interview".
  9. True that! And for now I would default to trusting Warren and Charlie's judgement here. The cash pile is getting larger and larger though (30B+ per year from operations), so it won't be getting any easier.
  10. Yeah, I found his answer messy and unconvincing as well. Does he have any original thoughts? Maybe he is just not eloquent and was nervous, and did not want to go too far off script with the big guy on the stage next to him. I think it’s quite a risk to returns if he feels the obligation to wait for THE fat pitch, that never quite materializes. It may take him five or 10 years to realize that he is not Warren Buffett, and things can be done differently.
  11. trump-giving-the-new-syrian-boss-rope-to-hang-himself-withor-not I thought Trump literally gave the guy a rope as a present and said it is up to you what you do with it, don’t fuck with me, lol.
  12. Anything is possible. Maybe the economy is rotting beneath a façade of “trade deals”, and the market will fall off a cliff once it realizes. Or maybe employment and the economy will hold up just fine. Imports are not GDP, only the value added domestically. How much is that added value actually affected by a two month hiccup? The mere existence of this thread is kind of funny. This is the Corner of Berkshire, right? Yet we still haven’t learned from Buffett that nobody knows where the market will be in three, six or 12 months. The guessing game is too much fun I suppose.
  13. Someone built a big, beautiful wall ... of worry.
  14. There is plenty of opportunity out there, but nothing that fits Buffett's style. Gotta admire his patience. He is still waiting for the fat pitch. Maybe he'll never get it, but if he does, and he goes in with $100B that does a 5-bagger in 3 years, everyone criticizing now will shut up again.
  15. Warren doing “the weave” from nuclear destruction to car insurance, lol.
  16. Shipping less cheap plastic crap around the world is good for the environment. The next pivot will be Trump the eco warrior lol.
  17. The tariff rate for orders from China is determined by the shipping date, specifically when goods are loaded onto the vessel for transport to the U.S., not the arrival date. More info from perplexity: Here's the breakdown: General Rule: Tariffs apply based on the loading date of goods onto the final mode of transport before entering the U.S. Goods already in transit before the tariff's effective date are typically exempt from the new rate, provided they arrive within specified deadlines . Example: For the April 9, 2025, reciprocal tariffs, goods loaded before 12:01 a.m. EDT on the effective date avoid the new rate if entered by May 27, 2025 . Similarly, the February 2025 10% tariff exempted goods in transit before February 1 if they arrived by March 7 . Arrival Date's Role: While the actual duty payment occurs upon entry into the U.S., the applicable tariff rate is locked in at the shipping/loading date . Delays in customs processing do not alter the rate.
  18. Odd Lots podcast Mitu Gulati on Whether Trump Could Restructure US Debt https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mitu-gulati-on-whether-trump-could-restructure-us-debt/id1056200096?i=1000703968744
  19. Thank you for the inside view. Didn’t realize these jobs paid so poorly. (Financial Times still should have worded the questions identically IMO).
  20. “Working in manufacturing” sounds much better than “working in a factory”. The tendency would probably still hold if they asked the same question, but why the fuck does everything has to be biased?
  21. In context, it is clear Trump thinks that Biden and Zelensky let the war happen, obviously not that Zelensky actively started it. A few minutes before he said: “That’s a war that never should’ve been allowed to happen, and Biden could’ve stopped it, and Zelensky could’ve stopped it, and Putin never should’ve started it.”
  22. She bought a whole bunch of stuff April 3 and 4 according to the screenshot, not even great timing, yet the post text implies she bought right before the restrictions on AAPL and others were lifted on April 12. I mean Trump probably didn't know until an hour before what he was going to do, but she can look 8 days into the future? Why do you repost this shit?
