American companies that will benefit from tariffs?
Gregmal replied to flesh's topic in General Discussion
The issue comes down to Critics(right now)- objecting, obstructing, complaining, critiquing because “something” is being done. Critics(when their guy or people are in office)- do nothing and let the beast grow… So sorry, I’ll take my chances with this experiment versus what the critics have enabled and allowed to happen. They coulda tried it their way, since they now seem to have all the answers, when they had control, but they weren’t interested in fixing anything then. -

Yup. But again, we re dealing with a macro situation where people can’t even applaud a 13 year old cancer survivor because they’re too caught up in tribal thinking. -
People also easily overlook that nobody needs to do anything in terms of the word "do" actually meaning "action". As long as you can manipulate the markets via rhetoric and get them to react close enough to how you want, the effects can be the same.

American companies that will benefit from tariffs?

Still kinda missing the whole big link how this massive recession happens and prices go up. Not how it works. Only sure thing IMO is the bet on lower rates. Why screw around with all these other emotionally charged strategies? -
As a huge lifelong sports fan, when you see greatness, you need to just soak it in like you'd observe a fine piece of art or a beautiful creature in the wild. Grew up with Marty Brodeur playing 70+ games a year and fluidly playing the role of a 3rd defenseman not fully appreciating it. Saw but still didn't full appreciate the sheer dominance of Barry Bonds getting intentionally walked 1-2 times a game and either homering or hitting it to the warning track on the 3-4 borderline hittable pitches he'd see a game. Tiger Woods was the first guy I was really able to appreciate. Made a sport where every event had a different top 10 a party of 1. LeBron Ive seen since his high school games were played on ESPN and he's done it so smoothly and when you look at the body of work, really transformed the game. Enjoy it while it's still there.

LOL this is a great post with a lot of thought and consideration, and like always, its probably either ignored or met with the TDS drenched 3-4 sentence rager...

Well, more generally, Trump haters spent the past 9 years crying wolf and had their guy in to be the solution the past four and we all know how that went; so who cares what they have to say because we’ve already heard it all from them and their solution was a total failure lol

I mean some of it has gotten to a point where even very basic stuff gives people trouble. Let’s say 2+2=4…. Theres huge troves of people who will take something as obvious as that, and respond with the like of -“That’s a Putin talking point” -“you’re doing it wrong if you’re trying to address that” -“Russian propaganda” -“it’s too early to tell” -“well actually it’s pretty clearly 22” So it is what it is and all we can do is keep our senses and admire the power of derangement syndrome, whatever the root may be.

Nobody in their right mind cares what the pollsters are saying anymore after that whole propaganda arm was exposed over the past decade. Wasn’t Kamala up huge in Iowa lol? Results will be reflected two Novembers from now.

Maybe they should’ve changed the date the new administration takes over to September or May or something so that on the odd chance that you get that outlier president who actually wants to get things done it won’t seem suspicious for people whom find everything he does suspicious….just an idea!

You want overlap. Every property I own is something located in a good area and something I theoretically would live in. Dream homes are overrated unless you’re doing full custom SFH or brand new trophy kinda thing on the condo side which imo is running you minimum $2m+ and takes years to design and build. Those? Sure those are purely for personal gratification and enjoyment and not investment in any way, but I’ve never looked at an existing home that someone else built and others painted, furnished, designed etc, and was like wow all those people know me so well! This is exactly what I’ve always dreamed of! Being in a good area is really all that matters and in that case it’s typically both a good investment and a good place to call home.

Under 3 might never happen again. Would require like an 1.1-1.3% 10 year. Under 5.5 gets things done.

Probably more merit to it than not

The main takeaway isn't really even about Russia/Ukraine, it's that there is almost nothing anybody should take serious about Russia or China from US based sources. It's like asking Pelosi or Rachel Maddow about Trump. You have to be super careful with anything that's presented to you, and always ask yourself what the motive is behind it. In this case, it's been warmongering. Remember even early on? The superhoax Ghost of Kiev story that media ran with and everyone ate up? Or the "brave soldiers" who when given the choice to surrender or die choose "Go Fuck Yourself Russia" before being blown up instead of surrendering? Only to then be released alive weeks later? Just kinda sick of all this and the underlying theme is still pro war and pro antagonistic nonsense.

MGM as well.

Yea lol same boat. Was like 25 and just wanted a house. Didn’t have a ton saved so took all that and a couple 1099 paychecks in their entirety(so owed taxes against future income now too!) to fund a down payment. Now that house yields 10%+ against purchase price and is just waiting on the next cash out refi.

All this is no better summed up than what happened with the Hunter Biden laptop. I’m not debating the laptop or the Bidens, just the architecture of the ruse so many fall for. Real information came out that was against the chosen agenda. State sanctioned propaganda agents came out, masquerading as “independent experts” and presented as such by the media with no evidence and just threw out the classic “Russian misinformation” blanket. The media and lots of influential agencies ran with it, no investigation or concern for its accuracy. And huge portions of the population, whether because they are stupid, ignorant, or just a little too caught up rooting for “their team”, fell for it hard. And that in a nutshell is what 90% of the nonsense in this thread is, dejavu….

Two neighbors have a disagreement. However one guy has a friend he went to college with whom lives 8 states away but is flush with money. Guy with rich friends starts blasting one side of the story all over town and throughout the region. Guy without rich friend is told he’s not allowed to have a side of the story, despite not even really saying too much to begin with, other than things he said prior to the dispute… That’s basically what this has become.
-
Remember only the US is allowed to tell the story. Anything coming out of Russia must be discarded or taken as a lie. They are not entitled to have a side of the story, there is only one side. One choice. Good vs evil!

And all that was before we found out that Ukraine was a backdoor moneytrain for American politicians and their families/friends.

https://www.cato.org/commentary/americas-ukraine-hypocrisy Whoops. Brought to you by the same people who claimed using Twitter accounts to advertise for a preferred candidate was an act of war lol

Good lord this entire thing reads desperate Western propaganda. The hallmark is always the intimate knowledge or declaration of exactly what someone else is thinking. We already saw(concretely) whom had a vested effort in undermining the deal.

Yea I’d jump in an instant. Once you’re secure financially it’s about things that improve your quality of life. Who cares what %s are. A home will hold its value. Guesstimating the kinda numbers you’re talking about, I’d say if you’re on the fence put 50% down and do a 15 yr ARM.

I mean even if one knew absolutely nothing, say you take a 5 year old….they could look at a map and see Russia and Ukraine and a conflict is certainly within the realm of possibility. Lots of reasons a lot of things could happen. So once again we apply the same situation, looking at a map, and one is again left with wondering, WTF does the US have to do with this, and why is it involved? And any bit of history will inform one that since the Cold War, the US has basically done everything it can to provoke and weaken Russia. And then go back and tell their citizens they’re promoting democracy and anything to the contrary is evil dictator Putins misinformation.
