  1. Black Bird on Apple TV is great. One of Ray Liotta's last roles, RIP.
  2. As a not-yet-retired five-star armchair general with combat experience from Desert Storm and later wars, my prediction is that Nancy just pulled the rug out from under Xi and China. Nobody (I) will be able to trust or respect a leader that is upset over visitors to a neighboring country. Oh wait, VIX still at 23.93. Forget what I said.
  3. OPEN, RDFN, and Z. Not an endorsement of any one of them.
  4. I like philosophical questions... He destroyed the Facebook brand. Hence the rebrand to Meta. Their websites and apps Zuck from a UX point of view. I don't think the organization can build new products so he should just buy something. The government doesn't like Meta: https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2022/07/27/ftc-sues-meta-to-block-acquisition-of-vr-company-within/ He should do something about that. Maybe resign. Not that any of this matters. FCF after SBC etc matters. Zuck is doing quite well there but getting worse.
  5. Thanks for the reminder. I have a small position in this as well and will buy more next week.
  6. I have some $155 ones expiring a bit later that have been exciting to follow. I'm less excited about META now that Zuck has proven that he makes big mistakes. Due to confirmation bias I thought he was not human but he has made many stupid mistakes in hindsight. He's a family man now so he has other priorities. The government is also trying to prevent META from practicing capitalism and buying smaller companies. META needs a new CEO.
  7. ”Valuation of Metals and Mining Companies” - VALUATION APPROACHES AND METHODS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF MINERAL PROPERTIES https://app.box.com/s/2xaur14cv86tc77r598u6o9yu13enrot Also check out TPL, BSM, DMLP, MSB, etc. https://horizonkinetics.com/app/uploads/Q4-2020-Review_Final_Approved.pdf
  8. Top Gun Maverick was really good. I'm a bit surprised that good movies are still being made. The movies during the pandemic have been mostly terrible. Did someone lock up all the good screenwriters? Elon on Netflix:
  9. Thanks. REITs and making real estate work for me is something I have been thinking about as well: STWD and BXMT dividends look attractive and inflation might not be a problem: https://www.reit.com/news/blog/market-commentary/how-does-inflation-affect-reit-and-stock-performance https://www.nareit.com/news/reit-magazine/may-june-2022/where-inflation-heading-rest-2022-and-what-will-be-biggest-impact Statistics etc. is nice, but the devil is in the details. On the other side of Chanos on the long-short spectrum you have BAM:
  10. My first priority wouldn't be to negotiate with someone who I know has no plans on following any agreement I sign. This is a war of ideology, democracy vs authoritarianism, that will continue whatever happens in Ukraine. Showing weakness (being scared, etc.) is an invitation to the next invasion and most of the European countries have once again shown that they have weak leadership. IMO, Ukraine simply needs to be stronger than Russia to solve this problem.
  11. PPG offered 96.75€ in 2017 vs. today's price of 70.74€. PPG P/E 25 vs. AKZA P/E 16. Selling paint is a simple and good business?
  12. Thanks. I added Experian to my watchlist. I bought a starter position in RMV recently. There's also Hemnet in Sweden which is similar, AFAIK. B&M European Value Retail S.A. (BME.L) seems interesting, but is not really a small cap. I'm not familiar with JD, but have owned BOO.L and ASC.L in the past.
  13. The valuations in the UK seem to be really cheap at the moment: From: Anyone here been investing in the UK lately? I have bought quite a few stocks, but they always seem to get cheaper except for BATS.L. ADM.L (the "poor man's Geico" of the UK) is a stock I bought recently.
  14. Good thread and ideas. @wabuffo where do you find these special situations? Any opinion on a potential $KSS buyout offers? There has been some speculation about a price above $60. $KSS up 15% from when I started writing this post, LOL.
  15. Investing in myself and building a better life. Falling knives everywhere.
  16. IMO, the Crox pandemic originating from Fort Lauderdale in 2001 is more serious than this ape virus. Agraphia is one symptom. Serious cases have shown symptoms of acalculia. People of COBF be careful out there:
  17. Some BRK. Had a dream about VRSN "to the moon".
  18. One of Buffett's favorites Greg Alexander sold all BABA and bought YNDX (no longer trading for obvious reasons): https://www.dataroma.com/m/holdings.php?m=CM Biggest holding EQH.
  19. Thanks. FCF margins of 40.5% is great, but there are things that are not that great:
