Here's an article about a "decade trader" who has "one of the greatest long-term track records in the history of investing": https://archive.is/iL2Cs#selection-4877.55-4895.145

Even if he had blown himself and the people around him up, he's smart enough to make it back and around the moon again. Elon is a similar type of guy, seems quite smart.

I bought back 9988. Let's hope Xi doesn't get too wild this time and that nothing related to 9988 upsets him or the CCP. I rate this stock as speculative because of the highly fragile egos and socialism. I also wonder why I haven't looked at the currency risk. Is there no such thing with HKD and China, maybe someone here knows? One china, one currency, long live the peg? Added to EGBN and parked some cash in BANX.

Station Eleven is about the aftermath of a world-ending pandemic and it's pretty good so far: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10574236/ Better than watching news about the current pandemic -
Merry Christmas Thanks to @Parsad and everyone, especially to the ones who got me to buy the dip in DPZ and COST in March.

Sold 60% of $BOO.L I don't like doubling down on stocks that make me feel uneasy. I guess I lack conviction in management.
-
Maximum 5% of portfolio, or 2.5% per stonk. Not there yet.

Tried to buy more ASC.L and BOO.L during today's crash. However, IBKR was as slow as usual to fill orders on the London Stock Exchange so I seem to have missed the party. Has anyone else noticed the same problem with IBKR?

Book Notes - The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (Abridged)

I fixed it: creating a classless society in which everyone shares the benefits of labor miseries and the state controls all property and wealth. “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” —House of Commons, 22 October 1945. https://winstonchurchill.hillsdale.edu/socialism-is-the-philosophy-of-failure-winston-churchill/ -
Automatic decision making is the future (UPST, FICO, etc.). Decisions and choices are influenced by the media, friends, etc., usually without people being aware of that the decision or choice they thought they made was not their own ( $DJCO 13F-HR). In the future everything will be automated even more, Zero-Click Ordering ($DPZ), etc.:

ANET - timing the market BABA - I have no need for drama and I don't want socialists near my money

I've been going through my portfolio a couple of times, trying to imagine each stock being down 50% or more, and have found nothing to sell. I'm sure I will feel differently once a stock is down 50% for real. I sold MSFT at $27. It felt good. I don't remember if the stock was up 50% or 100%, but I remember the price. There was probably no FOMO, only bad products and leadership. Another mental exercise I try to remember to do once in a while is to try to think about if I'm holding a stock because of wishful thinking. Are there any other exercises people here do? Principles made me sell half of BABA. I should have sold more. Recognizing it was all wishful thinking made me sell WISH.

For some reason I didn't fear letting go of MSFT at $27. Maybe now is the time?

Random thoughts on portfolio construction for a novice

Thanks for sharing. I read your article and can honestly say I enjoyed reading about your thoughts on investing. I might be wrong or talking about my own experiences, anyways, I believe ancient philosophers have studied and found some answers to problems of the mind. Fear and anxiety are interconnected, AFAIK. Being aware of and facing my fears is something I'm working on all the time. A fearless man is free. There is no past or future, only the present, try to enjoy it. I will take the Principles You test to try to learn more about myself. -
