It’s about them becoming cannibals. Munger made comment at one of the DJ meetings that if you read between the lines that’s what he was getting at. But fully agree with KJP, unions are going after their share of the pie that they gave up during the bankruptcy period. Throw in a growing shortage of pilots avavilable and they are looking pretty now. (Of course the way the industry works is a few of the European LCC carries are going to bust soon which is going to have a lot of pilots back on the market ((not to mention all those aircraft on lease whose owners seem to be the darlings of Wall Street))

great book, especially enjoyed the "inside baseball" of reporting the story from Carreyrou's prospective.

This article has been making the rounds the past month on various sites. Feel the same way I do about it when I read it the first time as I do now: There’s no good journalism schools in Michigan that you can pay in-state tuition for? Instead this guy went to one of the most expensive private schools in the country located in one of the most expensive cities in the world! Even then, he’d likely would’ve been a strong to an exceedingly strong candidate for the honors colleges at out of state schools which usually offer in-state tuition/scholarships. You tell me he couldn’t have gotten into at least one of Missouri, Arizona State, or Georgia (three of the top journalism schools in the country - all public) with in-state tuition? He blames everyone but himself. Sorry, but no sympathy.

I did, was there for the first week and a day. Had a great time. Had a long layover on the way back to the states so visited Red Square at 6:00 am and we were the only people there. It was spectacular.

Same cautions and warnings were said before the Olympics in Sochi. Turned out to be bunk for it as well. Very friendly, welcoming people. Their driving and queuing system, however, took a bit to get used to. Plus Baltika is a pretty good beer.

That side of town needs a little work. It's essentially all industrial parking lots specifically devoted to game day parking. And as it seems the only thing that's getting built in Charlotte these days are apartments, I'm sure residents will love living right besides railroad tracks.

fed our cat dry food their entire life, lived to be 16. sometimes when they are older, have to water it down to make it easier to chew but wouldn't worry about it. bonus is they'll kill birds, varmint, and snakes for you to enjoy....at least I think that's their thought process?

Opened an account at CIT bank this week because I was tired of getting nothing for my funds being held at one of the big four. Churn credit cards for bonuses. No loyalty to anybody.

it looks like the bike in the WSJ picture is here on google maps: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4369934,-111.9429875,3a,37.5y,102.55h,81.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scUyILaxFs5z63AL2SupCJw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 what is interesting is the bike lane and the turning lane practically 'switch'. A car heading northbound on Mill Ave and turning right on Curry Rd would cross into a bike rider going from the 'shoulder' bike lane when crossing the previous bridge to a bike lane at the intersection which is towards the middle of the road. Impact to the car is to the front right quarter panel, which would lead to that scenario making sense. EDIT: Reports say she might have been trying to reach the island in the middle of the road instead? -
I have seen the future of grocery stores

Nice timing of this thread getting bumped and another article about the grocery store bar being published: https://www.charlotteagenda.com/118667/get-lobster-dinner-south-end-less-cost-one-charlotte-cocktail/ Have to scroll past the lobster bit, but 3/4s of the way down the page it talks about the bar: -
I have seen the future of grocery stores
Gamecock-YT replied to DTEJD1997's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be insulting. But if you think those prices are inexpensive you're delusional. I can walk into my liqueur store and buy high quality German beer for $2.10 (tall boys 500 ml). For $30 ($6 a glass) I can buy a good Burgundy. For $18-$24 I can buy a very good bottle of Cotes du Rhone. The quality of these wines are very likely much, much higher than what you get in your grocery store glass. These are regular price btw, no sales. I live in Canada where alcohol is expensive due to taxes. I'm sure the prices are lower in the US for these items. I should mention that I am someone who has plenty of money. I consider the prices you've listed as very high and would not pay. The idea that an average person would consider that very inexpensive is incorrect to say the least. Liquor store is the same as a bar in Canada? Grocery store is the same as a bar in the US? https://www.charlotteagenda.com/41470/theres-a-killer-little-bar-in-harris-teeter-really/ as someone who has plenty of money, you would have a ball here. I guess you could finish up with the $12 cocktails we have in town afterwards, no doubt you can get them much cheaper and better quality in Canada at the liquor store bar. There is no liquor store bar in Canada..not sure why you guys are willfully misunderstanding each other but OK. Typical prices in Canadian bars are: $6-$8 per beer...maybe as cheap as $4 in Montreal or if you go to the right college bar. But $3 for beer, AT A BAR, is very cheap. But the real question is whether you are really getting a "Bar" inside a grocery store...typically people get drunk at bars, party, dance and socialize. The grocery store might not be conducive to that and so maybe it makes sense that its cheaper since its not really achieving the same effect as a bar. because he was trying to be insulting/difficult. I've visited the country a few times to know they were talking out of their ass, just needed to give him enough rope. Not one of my strong points, but alas... -
Feel like I answered that already.... And to add to that from alwaysinvert: So the primary impact on people who are: 1) Government officials 2) Police 3) Long-term inhabitants of the area 4) The people who die in terrorist bombings Tourists will be pretty much ok. Which explains why you didn't have a problem. so you've been to moleenbeek, yes? Rode the tram through town? Looked at the folks getting on the trains during those stops? Maybe you answered it already...
