  1. This piece of information about Elon Musk from Wikipedia cracked me up dearly! Trying to buy ICBMs from Russia, getting a 'No' because considered a novice What a head wind pattern! Reminds me of the prisoner sentenced to death by shooting: The executioner to the prisoner : 'Up against the wall!' The prisoner to the executioner : 'There is no wall!' The executioner to the prisoner : 'Then build one!'
  2. I consider it biased posting in this topic to continue by now bringing up Mr. Breton while he has waived all rights, obligations and responsibilities in relation to the EU that he previously possessed. If you check him up, you'll find out that he already had two men wearing ski masks and gloves and wielding hand guns breaking into his Paris home, beat him and locked him up along with his wife and their live-in chauffeur, stealing his wife's bling and some of his cash. Apart from the fact that he still needs to have his hair cut, that must suffice for such a geriatric.
  3. <No comments>, other than : It's all about [bad a**] attitude. Fly, fail, fix. Nothing is impossible.
  4. I'm personaly not sure about that. It does a not matter at all. Naturallly, and sucject to, and untill it does.
  5. And now what would be potential candidates for that, @Hektor ? - to really move the needle for Berkshire?
  6. Yeah, Great to be born and to live in the Western part of the world, as an alternative to, and compared to, such a hellhole as Russia nowadays. I preordered The book today at my favorite Danish online bookstore [called saxo.com].
  7. A few days ago I started reading : Amazon : Samuel Rachlin : 'Jeg, Putin' [which translates, from Danish to English : 'I, Putin'], second edition. First edition was written under 'the Russian Spring' first half 2014, when the Crimea situation evolved and escalated. Second edition is with a new foreword spring 2022 added. While reading the book I feel like getting dragged up of the soil I was planted in with my roots, to be replanted in another set of values and criteirias by which to judge Putins motives, actions and doings in general, that are so far away from my personal set of values as a Western European. Unfortunately, with this book, there is a language barrier, because the book is only available in Danish language.
  8. Yes, it is de facto control over employees on a very personal level. Here we have a paragraph in our bankruptcy law, that you have to ask the probate court for permission to leave the country if you are subject to ongoing bankrupcy proceedings, but your passport is still in your own physical control.
  9. Here you go, Enjoy, and please don't forget to comment, in this topic, with the aim of us all here on CoBF getting more knowledgeable, all while aiming higher and doing good, perhaps not only for ourselves. - - - o 0 o - - - Does any of this even, or really, matter to you?, - if yes, in which way? -I would personally like to read the replies to this question from any reader and poster of this topic. UBS - global-wealth-report 2024 - 20241007.pdf
  10. Your line of questioning here, is to me, not balanced, others CoBF members interests, against your own. And this incidence was the second today, in this topic.
  11. @Munger_Disciple, On this page, there is a download link available for us all.
  12. I ordered the book today, too, @Brett, I'm sure it'll be a nice addition to my collection of other 'speciality' books totally focused on Buffett and/or Berkshire. I see your publisher is Harriman House - just for your information, I'll mention here, that I was actually able to preorder the book at my favorite Danish digital bookstore - www.saxo.com - today, so I don't have to go through the hazzle of Danish customs etc. by preordering the book at Amazon. So things seem to work out nicely for your debut as book author. Best wishes for you with the whole process.
  13. Now that was funny! Exactly the same happened to me late last night, I was simply too tired, and had to stop trying to listen to the whole thing after a few minutes. I'll elaborate a bit for all about Anders Puck Nielsen after having listening to the whole again today.
  14. I stumbled on this piece today, -not really 'new' news, as per the release date : Atlantic Counsel - UkraineAlert [ October 3rd 2024] : Ukraine is slowly but steadily weakening Russia’s grip on Crimea. - - - o 0 o - - In a way there is basically some logic to it by all means and measures, because the front lines are so long and vast, because of of geografical size of both countries in conclict. So, in a way, it also works both ways. Anyone here on CoBF noted, that we hear nothing about the Russian South Fleet and it doings any longer, - now for months?
  15. Awesome watch, Jeff [ @DooDiligence ]!, The more I think about it, I'm likely to come to the conclusion that this Rolex of his may not even be be his own buying decision. Perhaps one of his wifes decided to 'dress him up 'suitable'' [at one of his birthdays or whatever] more in accordance with the man he really is, pulling the payment for the watch on a mirror card of his personal Amex card, so he ended up paying for it himself! - Women / wifes / men / husbands / better halfs / significant others / mistresses / lovers [<-?] can some times be so bold and ballsy risk takers so that one gets scared just thinking about it! - - - o 0 o - - - I once was as a youngster on an audit of a quite complex private holding company, and in the process I ended up in an open office to ask the CFO why there were entries in the general ledger of utilities costs related to an appartment at a certain adress in Copenhagen, which appartment I coulden't see nor find in the balance sheet / books for the holding company. Furthermore, no rental income from it booked anywhere. So I had to call the boss at end of normal working hours to tell him that I had f**ked up dearly during the day, at least unintentionally. Answer from boss : No problem, John, - let it go. He [the controlling shareholder] called me two or three weeks ago, where we talked about nothing and everything. He actually complained to me, he had not been getting any sex lately with his wife [and he felt that he coulden't really take the freedom to go to Copenhagen anytime soon, so he was dearly frustrated!] [- so what do you do when you're in deep shit and are frustrated about it and don't know what to to ? - You call your CPA for guidance and advice, naturally! ] , Because he had been to a meeting with a reinsurance company in Copenhagen during a day some time ago, and when he dressed off that evening to go to bed at home, his wife just asked him : 'This morning, when you dressed for going to work, you had an undershirt under your shirt. Where is that now?' <wifey pulling for checkmate in one move>.
  16. Fairfax : Sentiment, I think. Eventually it will get there, I expect. Major banks : They are all awesome money and dividend machines, if one puts a long lens on, even considered the risks related to them, intensely covered here on the board [Canadian real estate]. I personally think we do not talk enough about them - the banks in the second largest country by area on the planet - here on CoBF. There is always something to do. Thank you.
  17. I tried to look up a price tag for such Rolex models, looks like USD 15,000 - 25,000, depending on model. Not exactly just change for everyone. But change for him.
  18. Thanks, @UK! I had forgotten that nice story. Found it : Bob's Watches : Which Rolex Watch Does Warren Buffett Wear? He has certainly deserved it. Silent luxury, as @Luke called it.
  19. @Luke posted this in the LVMH topic earlier today : Containing : I have always been thinking about what watch Mr. Buffett is wearing. Does anyone here on CoBF know it, or have a guess? And yes, plus his wedding ring, that's it.
  20. Thanks, @Xerxes, What you posted [and deleted] was actually awesome returns, @Xerxes!, Please stop nitpicking [perhaps minor] injections, if they don't really matter.
  21. I'm with you on that, Mike [ @cubsfan ], The only thing [let's call it a 'tool'] I may have handy in this regard is my personal vote going forward in the Danish society, when I get asked about something. Time will tell when the time eventually is up for some decisions. In that respect better not to expect anything than to end up disappointed.
  22. Mike [ @cubsfan ], The people of Crimea & Donbas aren't live stock, available for trade, or available as leverage. Please think about what the United States of America has in its backpack in that regard. [And now I'll stop with this argument.]
  23. @Xerxes, Did a post of yours disappear in this topic not so long ago today?
  24. I personally think this is an accurate description of the actual situation. Frustrating to think about. Then add to that, Vladimir Putin can't be relied on or trusted in any way or in any matter, this signature on something meaning sh!t - nothing : .
  25. Thanks for pointing to this, for information, @UK, The media coverage of this has here been very poor, under all criticism. It's important. I have and nurse my personal biases on what the solution to this conclict should be, while the truth is, that the involved people in this conflict should decide for them selves where to belong for the future, to stop the hooman madness - the meaningless losses of so many lives of primarily young Ukrainian and Russian people.
