I've been all around that area but actually have never visited Holland, MI. I have sampled many of New Holland Brew's beverages and will have to visit! -
Wrote AMGN 170-strike, May 3rd expiration puts for $0.76 per share. Yes I know they report this evening.

Holland, MI? Nailed it. 4 out of 5 great lakes agree that Michigan really is the best state. I live on the coast with hundreds of miles of sandy beaches on lake michigan on the sunset side of the lake. From my user name you probably surmised I hail from a neighboring state. -

;D Dad, I really really just became a millionaire... ... I started with 10 million and invested in Canadian O&Gs, some promising biotechs, even more promising techs, couple airlines, IBM, and triple index tracker. Reminds me of this quote, "To make a small fortune in the futures market, start with a large fortune."

You wrote naked calls? Before the hype event next week? Yes, naked calls. I would love for Tesla to be successful. I had a model 3 on order but canceled it, I believe back in January.

Wrote 300-strike April 26 expiration calls on TSLA, $2.40 a share.

I got put to on WFC at $47.30. I wrote some more puts, 45-strike May 10 expiration. WFC is my largest bank holding ahead of BK and BAC. WFC is a very distant second to my largest holding BRKB.

Thanks for the Black Hole link John!

Image what she could have accomplished , if she had joined a hedge fund! Jokes asides , it is quite a feat to get spatial resolution on an object so far away, even if this object is the size of our solar system. Will listen to the Ted talk later. I wonder if they will have a go at the black hole in the Center of our galaxy next. I'll talk to her dad about that! We had a faculty member, Ilya Pollak, who was into that. He taught a course entitled Financial Engineering. He left us and is the Chief Scientist at a Hedge Fund.

John, I knew Katie had followed Charlie's footsteps going to Michigan to study electrical engineering, but I had no idea. Mike

Katie's dad Charlie is a colleague of mine and my daughter was in school with her. Amazing what Katie has accomplished.

On Monday I wrote some 48-strike April 12 expiration WFC puts for $0.70 per share. Still a good premium today at 0.68 per share.

Buffett/Berkshire - general news
boilermaker75 replied to fareastwarriors's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
Why would you want to be first in the plane? I always prefer to enter as late as possible (except when hand luggage is not guaranteed as I prefer it not to go to the hold). Yes to store a bag in the overhead and to get an aisle seat. It is open seating on LUV. -

I also love Southwest, but I don't pay for early bird check-in. When I fly with my wife, she always gets the early bird and I don't. I love when I end up only a few spaces behind her in line and can gloat about saving $20! -
Climate change hoax from a Nobel Laureate
boilermaker75 replied to Cardboard's topic in General Discussion
In 1798 Thomas Robert Malthus famously predicted that short-term gains in living standards would inevitably be undermined as human population growth outstripped food production, and thereby drive living standards back toward subsistence. But that didn't happen. As Spekulatius has pointed out things keep changing. New technologies for producing fertilizers, genetically engineered crops, etc. -
The other thing that could have happened was you bought more BRKB and there has never been a bad time in my investment career, since 1968, to buy BRKB. And if you already have enough BRKB you could just write covered calls for the next expiration date for about 1% premiums.

Very nice GFP!

I also loved this book. Chernow always does research where he finds things no one else has. For instance all the letters to a newspaper in the Caribbean that were signed "a gentleman from NY." Chernow figured out that was Hamilton. The play is terrific. My daughter took me on one of my visits to LA. She had already seen it multiple times in NYC.
