I don’t think so Parsad, because who acts first is important.  For example, killing in self defence is legally justified, because you were defending yourself from someone trying to kill you.  I think it’s comparable to this.  Anyway, best I stay away from this thread, it’s gotten too wild.

Off it went into the “too hard pile”

"Twelve members of Congress will soon take on the crucial job of rearranging our country’s finances. They’ve been instructed to devise a plan that reduces the 10-year deficit by at least $1.5 trillion. It’s vital, however, that they achieve far more than that. Americans are rapidly losing faith in the ability of Congress to deal with our country’s fiscal problems. Only action that is immediate, real and very substantial will prevent that doubt from morphing into hopelessness. That feeling can create its own reality."

- Warren Buffett, Stop Coddling the Super-Rich (NYT, 2011)

Welcome to that reality folks. People have lost faith, our problems now are bigger than they've ever been, and our Congress consists of people ill-equipped to handle them.

The foundation of the entire global financial system rests on the well-being of Treasury markets. The same thing could be said about every aspect of credit laden within our own financial system. The risks are existential, and simply dismissing them because they are so existential is nothing short of illogical.

But no doubt, we will continue down our current path. I mean just look at the person we elected to be our leader?

What's the point of trying to convince others of anything, when even Buffett, a man who has sacrificed nearly everything to become the world's greatest financial expert, can't even get his own point across? It is interesting.

Anyways, Kevin Warsh will soon be one of the most important men in the world.

Absolutely frigggin' unbelievable, how much new knowledge I get out of reading CofB&F about things, of which I'm pretty ignorant by now.

I sense it's among others us Northern Europeans among us here on CofB&F, who, dragged up with roots, in our fairly good  and cosy countries, with good living conditions, finally gets to grasp just a whit of how bad all this is in the ME!

Ourkid8 is intelligent and a very nice person.

Both of you might not always be the most rational or self-aware, but you are both smart!  Unless you want me to assume you aren't!  🤣

What is equally funny, is again "smart people", who naturally assume that the person on the other end is this hate-filled monster (again, any political spectrum), yet they would never dare say anything like that in person to someone else.

Message boards and social media are wonderful tools, but any tool can be used in ways that subvert progress, humanity, and especially empathy!  Cheers!

Sorry, Sanjeev there is no place in my world for blatant antisemites.

Everyone has their own biases and opinions.  Do you have a place for blatant antimuslim opinions?  There is plenty of that in the world as well!

Hindus and Sikhs are generally mild-mannered, courteous, respectful people.  But they have hardliners that have extreme views and will do anything for their personal beliefs.  Pretty much all groups do...there are even hardline Buddhist extremists in Southeast Asia against Muslims!

Personally, I have my own biases as well...but at the very worst, I would hope that I don't form ANY opinions about a large population based on minority, extremist behavior.

Cheers!

No, Sanveev, and from what I have read, no one on this board is "blatant antimuslim".  But only one poster (who posts) is a blatant antisemite, which demonstrates ignorance of a magnitude way beyond the pale.

What really would be the problem with "pro-Jew" as opposed to anti-semitic?

That's not really a hard choice Blake.

I don't think anyone on this board has an issue with Muslims at all - However, I do have a huge problem with Radical Islam, which has got to be one of the most dangerous movements in the world.

Maybe your comment is an attempt to cover up the clear anti-semitism in the Democratic Party, which is extremely alarming??

There's blatant racism of various types even on here.  There has been a large inflection upwards in antisemitism and antimuslim attitudes...primarily because one group 9/11ed the other, and then that one started large scale assassinations and regime change in the region because they knew they had a supportive superpower in their back pocket.

The result would be a natural benefit to both, probably the region and the world in general, but let's do it without any approval from anyone...in regions where we have no sovereignty or right...without due process in international courts, including possible civilian casualties...and we'll create a fucked up mess that we then have to reach out to those that we've pissed off, because we are a bunch of knuckleheads who think we never need any help or anything from anyone else.

But hey, at least we took initiative and did something!  I wonder why there are biased opinions on here?  Cheers!

No, they are only pro-Jew for the hard right Jews who share the same sentiment.

Half of them wouldn't want their daughters still marrying someone circumcised!  Jewish or Muslim!  Kosher or Halal!  Yarmulke or Kufi!  Hannukah or Ramadan!  Matzo or Pita!

Religious blood brothers killing each other and driving the world mad!  Aliens must think this planet is retarded!  Cheers!

More people have been killed in history because "my imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend" than any other reason.

What Hamas initially did to Israel was wrong, but a lot of what Netanyahu has done following that will fuel future terrorism.

Sure.  But it is all reflexive.

Israel has not been the initiator trying to kill off all Muslims...albeit they've done a pretty good job when they've retaliated each time.  But there are, and definitely were, sovereign nations in the Middle East that did not want just harm to come to Israel, but a complete genocide...that is not even debatable, even though you would like to try.

And you can blame the Brits and the Balfour Declaration for the current mess...what didn't the Brits fuck up back then like the U.S. fucks up now?!  Cheers!

LOL!  Isn't that the truth!

Somehow every game winning shot in sports, the bombs dropping in war, winning court cases for illegal activity, basically the existence of your country...always because the "imaginary" friend is always on "OUR SIDE"!  Never on the other side...always only on "OUR SIDE"!

Cheers!

Actually,,, that might seem right based on past history of Israel/USA letting these events pass.

What you've missed is that Hamas(Iran) crossed the red line on Oct 7th. Even those thousands of Jews in Israel that supported Gazans with jobs, charity, etc - found out that Gazans would have no problem at all slitting their throats and their little children's throats as well.

You might call that "the last straw" as Israel let down their guard to the threat of radical Islam.

They definitely were fooled.

This time, Iran decided to do it to Bibi, with the promise of a new American administration coming in that refused to screw around anymore with terrorists.

So, yeah, there will be terrorism forever.

What's different about this period with Bibi/Trump in charge - is that there will be thousands of dead terrorists as well.  The price for their terrorism just went up.  After 50 years of this behavior - we will no longer negotiate with terrorists or fund their nuclear threats.

A lot of that's true.

But I don't like Netanyahu. I think he's overall a bad dude who doesn't much care about the lives of muslim people. He's a radical liar who's much like Trump but maybe more murderous. His wiki page history is quite interesting. He held a mock funeral for Yitzhak Rabin months before he was assassinated. He always been quite radical.

I'm sure turning Gaza into a hellscape has solved terrorism forever.

You can hate him all you want.  He is the one man that is saving Israel from total annihilation.

There is no doubt about that.

Any minority will immediately recognize prejudice when it is couched in language most others find acceptable.  I only see that from one poster here.  If you see it, why don't you call it out?  Perpetrators of such prejudice are pure cowards.  They would lose or run away in any fair fight.

Oh believe me - they learned a very tough lesson unfortunately.  When all the past approaches of appeasement and ass-kissing (Obama) don't work -then your only option is unconditional surrender.

It's ugly for sure.

Wake up, Blake.  Gaza was already a "hellscape".  Hamas turned it into one.  You're smarter than that.
