Did you feel a liberal art-ish major hinder or helped you professionally?  My thought process has always been let kids choose whatever they want to do, and if they have passion plus aptitude, things will work out.  But all this talk about AI making a lot of education a somewhat costly haphazard stepping point, not sure now.  Though who knows, my kids are still middle school level, so long way to go.

Originally I intended to go to law school and the top majors for lawyers were history and English so that’s why I majored in both. I ended up going a different route and the degrees weren’t totally helpful, but the truth is that most jobs nowadays, are more about who you know and at least out of the gate, having a “good enough” college name on your resume. There isn’t much I learned in school that I would say has been useful. Aptitude gets you there and then when you find something you like, ambition and a personal interest take over.

Turns out - shocking things happen with you deport criminal illegal aliens and enforce law and order - crime goes down.

Murder rates are plummeting.

The current record low occurred in 2014 when the FBI reported a murder rate of 4.45 per 100,000.

The question is: why? Law enforcement matters, but it is probably also that Trump is deporting criminal illegal aliens.

Reducing crime isn’t rocket science. If you make it riskier for criminals to commit crime, you will get less crime.

No matter your politics, these new numbers are shocking. Of the 7 million migrants that ICE released while their cases are being processed, 663,000 have criminal histories, 13,000 were convicted of homicide, 16,000 of sexual assault, and 1,845 face homicide charges.

Seeing as though most of the stuff you have recently posted in the politics section has turned out to be completely incorrect, why should  anyone believe this post?

I saw somewhere that immigrants coming to the United States have, on average, higher rates of college education than Americans.

Anyone who labels a large group of humans as inherently evil should be completely ignored.

If this is for legal immigration this would make total sense. I would be shocked if that includes undocumented immigrants, although I think it would be impossible to get accurate numbers on this.

I mean, yeah. No doubt.

Well, I should add "unless that group is all humans." If you think all humans are evil, then that's just a statement on the humanity. The issue is when you label a subgroup of humans.

I don't want to find the source but I believe it was indeed for undocumented immigrants from Mexico. It was also in either the WSJ, NYT, or The Economist.

I think surveys for these people is generally easier than the whole court process. I don't think it would be crazy if the numbers were accurate.

I'll say one thing - Eric and Don are extremely busy young boys these days plundering the Presidency. I hope Donald is proud of them and tells them they are doing a "great job" everyday.

Education does not necessarily mean anything.  I know dozens of immigrants from former USSR who came to this country with masters and PhD degrees, and yet never worked a day in their lives, all content to sit on the dole (welfare, Medicaid, section 8, food stamps, et all).  Why?  Because many came in their 50s, without knowing English, and the only jobs they could get would be menial jobs, and hence they felt they were better off on the dole.

Ive been saying for a long time that there should be complete bans on any outside investment or business activity for "public servants". It's the biggest crock of shit how everyone becomes a "public servant" to get rich. AOC was a freakin minimum wage bartender who is now flying in private jets. She is virtually inaccessible to the constituents she serves....and she's hardly an except, just an exceptionally striking example...but that behavior is the norm. If you want to be a public servant, you serve. You make a sacrifice. But until we take an absolute stand, we'll still get these bullshit half measures and work arounds and let our spouses trade stocks and our kids make all the money off the job.

AOC disclosures from earlier this year put her net assets at less than $50k with $15k of outstanding student debt.  If she's flying on private jets its someone else's dime because she doesnt seem to be personally getting rich.

My god this stupid need to nitpick just to argue for “my team”…. Are we really going to argue someone like AOC hasn’t used her position to vastly improve her lifestyle and financial positioning?

Anyway, here ya go

She obviously would’ve been a Met Gala invitee as well due to her great bartending skills…nothing to do with milking her public servant position!

She literally has to post her assets and net worth like every congress person.  Her net worth is under $50k.  There are lots of names you can point to who are milking the system to get personally wealthy but thats not one.
