Oh, you really are a piece of work. My goodness!

This isn’t a dig at you Cubs.  I’m pointing out how the narratives in this thread have changed over time.  If you think I’m the bad guy for pointing that out - well that’s your weakness.  I believe it’s best to consider my responses as a way to sharpen your blade.

As I’ve said before, we are information peasants, and I have to believe this is not what Trump intends.

However you could very well be correct, this might be exactly what Trump intends, but for reason explained I think it doesn’t work as a peace plan.  In fact I think it does the opposite.

I'll agree that I definitely do not understand your points. And I don't think you're a bad guy.

Let's just say I'm dense. That's good enough for me.

More insults and threats from POTUS against NATO allies :

The Times and The Sunday Times [March 7th 2025] : Donald Trump threatens NATO if members don't pay more .

Here in Denmark, we have had our fair share of soldiers coming home in coffins from following USA in the war against terror, primary in the Middle East, after article 5 in the NATO pact was triggered by USA just after 9/11, and our share of veterans, with ruined lifes also.

I'm speechless.

Mike [ @cubsfan ],

Where have I done that? I have only - indirectly - suggested that your POTUS likely will fare better going forward not insulting and threatening allies.

It's quite an obvious insult with a intentional lack of acknowledgment of American sacrifice.

In addition, you failed to acknowledge the constant barrage of insults from European and Canadian leaders.

But I get it - it's always the bully American and the brutish American President.

200,000 dead WW2 Americans in Europe - and now you demand more.

Message received.

Only one nation has used Article 5. European men and women were killed because America couldn't keep its planes safe.

God forbid Europe gets some assistance back after 20 years in the Middle East.

I don’t get some of these comments.

NATO has been mutually beneficial for both continents.  America has shouldered much of the financial burden for a very long time and it’s right that Europeans pay more now and in the future.

But let’s also acknowledge that Europe is paying more to Ukraine than the US, and when the new commitments are included it will be substantially more.

American contribution to Europe during world war 2 far exceeds anything Europe committed in the fight against terror - that’s a fact.  And yet it is also true that America was forced into that world war 2, whereas European NATO countries entered the Middle East because the US asked it to.  But why does this all this matter.  It’s not a game of counting deaths.

Europe must do more - end of story.  And it is.

Sure, @Sweet,

Your last sentence is the conclusion. We have to approach this forward looking.

I'm perhaps just very annoyed by POTUS talking about USD 350 billion here related to US support to Ukraine. It's such a round of *BS* - everytime, and it does not get anymore correct by POTUS constantly repeating it.

Yeh we know where he got that 350 billion from.  It’s fake news.

What has WW2 to do with this? It’s probably more interesting to envision what would have happened if Trump would had been elected president in 1936 or 1940. I think the world would look unrecognizable compared to now.

The dreaded Russians & Comrade Stalin saved your homeland @Spekulatius

Where is your gratitude?

Random question but why does Europe even need US in the Ukraine proxy war?

Europe has a far higher population, GDP and better weapons compared to Russia. Europe also has nuclear weapons..

Also, I thought Ukraine isn’t a NATO member?

Saw this the other day, you reminded me of it:

The creators, Led by Donkeys, are from the U.K. and are basically a propaganda arm of the Labour Party (left wing).  But they can be funny.

Trump won't dare do that - he's in Putin's back pocket!  He a Russian asset!

Russia has pretty much adapted to the tariffs, some more is like water off a ducks back.

Come on. You are talking here about 200,000 americans dead related to to WW2. Have you forgot Pearl Habour and who decided it to be so? It was the incumbent POTUS at that time, wasen't it?

not to get involve in this heated back and forth, but :

while it was Pearl Harbour that pulled U.S. into the war on Dec 7th, less known fact is that it was Germany declaration of war on the U.S. on Dec 11th that brought U.S. into the war with Germany.

The arm’ length convoy war was raging in Atlantic, but with open hostility Hitler thought the good Grand Admiral Donitz can finally fight his unrestricted submarine war, without one hand tied in the back. It was also to entice the Japanese to invade Manchuria that never happened.

It would be a good thought experiment to imagine what would happened if Hitler didn’t declare war. The American battle cry was “kill japs”, imagine the horror of the public, had FDR chosen to divert resources to fight Old Europe’ war, when Germany had not even been in open conflict with the U.S.

Hitler solved FDR problems for him on Dec 11th

There is literally zero trade with Russia at this point so what are tariffs going to do? 10% or 100% or 1000% of zero are still zero.

Its not the first time Trump bring up tariffs with Russia - what a joke.

Putin won’t give a damn, that’s for sure.

Yeh, it’s pointless and toothless but it plays well.
