  1. Why BAH now when revenue growth has all but stopped? Valuation looks nice I admit, but would like to see top line growing.
  2. That’s just another way of saying I’m ok with discrimination because sure the impacts are low - except for those discriminated against. You say you are OK for a programme for poor white people. Why not just have a programme for poor people and ignore race altogether. There is no need to build in institutional racism. There is only so much a government can correct for structural issues people face. Like a deliberately absent father, how on earth can the government fill that void, and why should other people with kids of their own agree to discrimination against their own kids? The whole DEI thing is nuts. Have a programme for disadvantaged, keep race or ethnicity out of it completely.
  3. They choose to remove it too dwy. I mean, do you really think many of these companies didn’t enact such legislation because of political pressure, activist groups and NGOs?
  4. If you can’t get a diverse workforce through the most qualified candidate alone then meeting a diversity mandate can only be achieved by discrimination. Which I think should be illegal.
  5. You don’t need DEI, you just have support for people that perhaps didn’t have a supportive family. There is no requirement for anything like affirmative action or race or ethnic quotas. There is nothing wrong with it being homogenous. DEI with quotas is just straight up discrimination, nearly always against white or Asian people.
  6. “Why is he more evil than Biden” The fall of Tucker the f**ker has been wild. He just says the most outrageously stupid stuff regularly.
  7. In the UK it is £22k of income before you get hit by cap gains tax, and you are allowed to get a £6k of capital gains after which gains are taxed at 20% (lower rate) and then 24% (higher rate). And apparently according the many commentators over here that’s generous.
  8. The amount in the U.K. for working couples is 8,000 dollars lol. It used to be much more generous.
  9. Zip code is a function of behaviour and culture. Parents that stay together have more money and can live in these better areas. Asian parents stay together more often than others and their kids do better than others - no surprise. Blacks families are the worse by far with something like 60% of kids living in single parent households. Outcomes follow behaviour. I’m all for giving people who are disadvantaged help, through scholarships, mentor programmes etc. But this should be done regardless of race and based on need alone. I disagree with anyone being given jobs preferentially or having to balance the makeup of a board for any reason. So no, stopping DEI is not cutting of help. And meritocracy isn’t zip code lottery because it really doesn’t give any credit to what really matters which is behavior of families and the behaviour of the kids of that family. As others have noted, most millionaires are self-made.
  10. It’s an anecdote to you but not those who lived it. Take a straw poll of this forum sure, you might be surprised. The ‘data’ - what data, you posted nothing other than trope. The ‘millionaire next door’ either. A book written in the mid-90s that show that most millionaires were self made. Not all, but most.
  11. Nah. I know plenty of well off Americans worth millions who started with nothing and came from a working class background. Really weird that you think these people don’t exist.
  12. Those injustices of the past were before many of us were even born. DEI is basically a type of discrimination today.
  13. Lol, yeh kinda wild.
  14. DC is a special case though right? It’s a federal city. Not saying you were, but it wasn’t too long ago that defunding the police was a thing. Preferably cops police for sure, but that’s the opposite from defund the po po.
  15. Hasn’t crime dropped in D.C.? Why isn’t that considered important.
  16. Certain parts of liberalism - I agree. No coincidence that mental health of young lefties is terrible.
  17. More lunacy in the UK, and people wonder why academics aren’t trusted: Imagine going to a Middle East and writing an article about racism and one of your points is there isn’t enough pork in the country.
  18. A cult doesn’t need to be centered on a person, it can revolve around sub-set of wacky ideas - there are several examples. In any case, it’s not much a defence.
  19. Race has nothing to do with it but you’re trying to wedge it in there. The same crowd who claimed there nothing wrong with Joe Biden’s mental ability, and sought to explain his many gaffes, never once mentioned anything about white men getting slack until it was Trump in the hot seat. Much of MAGA is a cult for sure, but there is another cult, bigger, longer lasting cult, and the people in it are still oblivious that they’re participants in a cult, and that their cult spawned the MAGA one.
  20. Race card played nicely, and a bonus remark about women, neither of which makes much sense. I have no idea if Trump understands the %s, but I’m very sure he doesn’t care if the % is correct, he cares that you all get rage baited into talking about his talking points.
  21. Or maybe Trump just wants people to talk about drug prices, and guess what, you’re talking about it. And should drug prices fall many will remember Trump’s ludicrous ‘1,500%’ claim and they’ll think ‘well he did get the drug prices to come down’. It’s kinda amazing at this point that people don’t understand Trump’s shtick which can be summarised as follows - 1) say outrageous shit, 2) get people talking about said outrageous shit’.

And the central bank is reducing the rates. Labour went on a spending and tax spree, they spent alright but they didn’t get the taxes they want.
  23. You have to verify. I’m sure that’s why it takes time. Just be prepared, waiting a month or two isn’t that big of a deal.
  24. There was a large delay in getting passports here recently. Fix the cause of that. Really no reason to not have ID when voting. It’s insane to me.
