No you are simply refusing to use common sense. As I said before the lady was climbing through a window with a mob to a room that had no other escape for members of Congress. Last stand, castle doctrine, oath to protect by the police. This guy had a CCW, did not brandish his firearm and was clearly protecting that lady. He was pepper sprayed and detained before being shot. If I get pulled over for speeding and have my handgun in my belt does that mean I’m a dangerous individual that can be shot? I mean ffs
-
I’m not sure I understand the point of this post in response to what I said?
-
It was a Glock 19 (same one I have a CCW for) Capacity is 15 rounds and having an extra mag is pretty standard for many CCW. I mean the ICE thug needed 11 rounds to murder a detained man. You can say it wasn’t wise to bring a firearm to a protest (I would agree). You can say that he violated some riot law and deserved to be detained since there was some conflict with police even if he did or didn’t resist. But there was zero justification for the shooting. Even the NRA which is a garbage organization regarding the 2A is slamming Trump and law enforcement for this.
-
Heavily armed?! He was legally carrying a holstered handgun. Can you even articulate a crime he committed? How about a reasonable justification for use of deadly force. A holstered firearm is not grounds for such actions. He was detained when shot.

It wasn’t “just a window”…it was a room that had no further retreat for members of Congress and she was part of a mob. If someone breaks into my house at night through “just a window” I am going tog to shoot them. It’s no different…the cops swore an oath to protect members of congress. That’s what they did…

In fairness anyone defending the ICU nurse (as I am) should also defend Rittenhouse. Different firearm, maturity levels and legality to a degree (firearm crossed state lines). But the intention was not much different “protection” but the attackers were different (armed citizen thug vs armed thug agent). @cubsfan Babbitt was climbing through a window into a place where members of Congress were being held. Nowhere else to retreat to. It was truly and idiotic move by her and her group and the cop acted accordingly. I think most Jan 6 protesters were there for a rally. But there was undoubtedly a large group there looking for trouble and pushing boundaries. Are you incapable of looking at the situation without bias? Lawful is lawful and unlawful is unlawful. Lots of selective people on here….

Hard to deny this is getting closer though…and my concern is the swing of the pendulum. Both sides are fully capable of ratcheting the authoritarianism up. As Spek said I’d rather over react than under react. America was built on checks and balances before the ball got rolling. The citizens are supposed to be very wary of anything that even remotely resembles authoritarianism. The problem is we seem to be stuck in this “it’s no big deal if it’s my side in charge” paradigm.

Neither if which is illegal or a crime. ICE not only acted illegally, but immorally. Where do you draw the line Cubs? Even IF he didn’t have a permit to carry and he truly was obstructing a lawful stop there is NO justification for the outcome. It’s not the police’s job to carry out justice…that’s for the courts. This guy was held down by 5 agents, had his legal firearm taken from him (which was never brandished) and was shot and murdered at point blank range 14 times. If that is not alarming to you then you’re too far gone. Ffs man you sound like one of the bystanders cheering on the “Death Dealer” during the Kaunas pogrom. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaunas_pogrom

They are not the LAW What crime did he commit? What threat did he present? There is no way to justify that execution….none! There were stricter rules of engagement in Afghanistan! ICE is nothing but a gang of thugs using excessive force with zero restraint. They don’t use warrants, wear badges, cite laws or violations or even read rights. They break kneecaps and crack skulls. “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime”
-
Cubs you’re either missing the obvious or unable to move past your blind support for law enforcement….there was 6 agents with the man subdued on the ground. The firearm was taken and THEN he was shot, not once but multiple times. ICE is not a group of well trained law abiding police officers. It’s the fastest scaled, “law enforcement squad” ever assembled. Higher number count than the US Marines. Little to no training with poor incentives. Cash bonuses to lure the Luddite’s. It’s a mercenary group of thugs to carry out political agenda. As someone who has many friends in law enforcement and military they all say the same thing about ICE. Their actions are downright despicable. The amount of constitutional rights violations these goons carry out vastly outweighs ANY positive outcomes they may be achieving. A good friend of mine is a detective locally and I had coffee with him about a month ago. In conversation it came up that two guys we went to H.S. with joined ICE. Absolute shithead individuals just looking for conflict. With how ICE was scaled this likely isn’t out of the norm. You know I lean conservative but generally fall middle of the aisle when it comes to politics. But you’ve got to reevaluate your position on some of this stuff. The worse ICE gets the more clear the quote rings true. Which is a sad reflection of where we are and how we got here. ”If liberals won’t control the border, fascists will.”
-
ICE has more members than the Marines….let that sink in…anyone defending this “Trump version of ICE” At this point is cherry picking any “good” that they do and buzzing right in by the miles of despicable, sadistic, and constitutional rights violations these bums are carrying out on a daily basis. Shootings aside it’s madness.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Looks like the whole field is suing them and so far judges have been in favor of the field...what a mess -
Added some AJG, CSU and CPRT the past few days

LOL just tell her you're holding out for a better price

As @Mephistopheles said…Congress gave up the power post 9/11…. @Parsad I agree that is a real concern especially depending who is in office. Things like this are always a catch 22. Will be interesting to see the unintended consequences of this.

Alternatives to VOO to reduce Mag 7 exposure

Yet you still average 10% over time…I’m not trying to pick fights because I’m certainly not the most savvy investor on here. But it’s hard to take the argument of “equal weight index has outperformed over the last 25 years if you cut out 3 years from SPY; therefore it is superior.” The concentration is a feature not a bug. Regardless of how high or low it has been, over an average investors lifetime you end up averaging about 10%. As I said, if I were Hell bent on index investing; it seems to me the question around risk reduction through diversification is better addressed from a geographical angle than a concentration one. VT checks that box imo. This discussion also entirely excludes time in the market which is more important. Question: What’s riskier to your overall longterm portfolio performance? 30% in BTC or 100% in SPY? -

Historically is the average…it’s been as high as 60% I think in the 70s. It’s irrelevant over time imo -

Yet that very model is the benchmark that most hedge funds can’t outperform? Not sure I understand your point as the S&P500 has averaged what 10% historically? I’m not aware of any other index models that outperform over a similar timeline with less risk. -

The question really might be: "Should you continue to invest long term in the US framework or broadly diversify to something like VT to capture global growth?" That all depends on how much runway you have in terms of investment years. I don't really get the focus on sector weighting as this always ebbs and flows. -

S&P500 has always been driven by a handful of the top companies. Seems people get shook by this every time a new acronym comes out.... If you really want something different and don't have to worry about taxes from dividends then maybe something like SCHD. More fundamental driven and is less exposed to tech by weighting. VTI is probably better but best is just individual stocks. You either capture the market average with index funds or you blaze your own trail. -

The more vanilla the situation the better AI will be. At this point in time I would say both things are likely true, with time being the x component of the equation. AI will almost certainly get better over time and inch its way into many industries (medicine, law, counseling, real estate, insurance, etc.). The more data and situations it encounters the better it gets. I’m more interested in seeing which companies let the leash out the furthest the soonest. I’m inclined to think that one big screw up in any of these industries caused by AI will have a pretty big negative ripple effects for adoption in complex scenarios by others. However history does show us that over time rules and norms are often broken… -
Company policy is always "what you do off the clock is your own business." Trump is not off the clock. Further we require more from lesser positions. School teachers are required to maintain an upstanding public image on or off the clock. But the President can hock crypto, cologne, watches, education, and cozy up with Terrorist States taking bribes? There is no excuse and there should be zero tolerance for the highest seat in the land.

It's a low hurdle for due diligence Cubs...I'll get you started with just the crypto ponzi scheme.... A few more of his ventures can be found here... https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2025/08/18/the-number
