So the actionable investment idea? Long Mattress Firm and Kimberley Clarke. Nice
-
Please start.

Nah, analyzing Disneys horrible performance and dismal capital allocation, along with potentially the willful destruction of IP has been….the correct investment focus. I wasn’t really involved all that much in the others, but did buy some Target recently. But that’s investment discussion, not the Cash and Crying Corner.

The Corner of Cash and Crying.

It's not necessarily about experience, but it often does help. What has gotten old, is the same low level, highly predictable, TDS inspired routing of logic through the funnel of: 1. I hate Trump 2. I am overly invested emotionally in seeing and painting everything related to him in a bad way 3. Because of 1 inspiring 2, 2 leads me to regularly forecasting dramatic and sensationalized doom as a way to scratch some weird "gotcha Trump" itch which often results in: 4. Generally sucking at having predictions or evaluation models and inputs with any relevance to anything useful in an actionable investment sense. So yea. That's it.

Yea it’s madness

Their houses are being burnt down because the crybaby mentality has provoked the crazies to be violent. Derangement syndrome spreads and evolves

I mean there’s an amusement value in it for sure. But after a while it’s like OK, we get it, you think the world is forever changed. You hate Trump. Are world class military strategists; oh also mind readers. Everything is doomed, but China…except what’s the point there? Especially when it’s so easy to buy the tops and get shaken out at the bottom…
-
Yup. But this is what 95% of cobf has become the past couple months. Absolutely worthless, emotional raging and whining mixed with derangement inspired doom and gloom. Ugh…..
-
I swear sometimes Blake has me convinced he’s a bot just meant to humor us.

Exactly America is to blame for a lot of its own issues. But regarding the biggest of issues, tariffs with allies, I think they get watered down a lot, but at the same time it’s like an Entourage situation….you have one star and a bunch of posse members whom are living above their means only because of association. Asking more of the allies isn’t crazy. He’s just a bit of an asshole in terms of how he’s choosing to ask.

Yea there’s people cheering negative economic reports, hooraying the wars still going on, bragging about the misery that’s certain to happen…”cuz haha gotcha Trump”….thats kinda more what I was referring to.
-
Look I don’t think it’s terribly irrational for people whom don’t live here to be emotional and root against us, especially with what’s going on; that’s fine. It’s the people whom do call USA home and display this sort of hatred. It’s wild to me.
-
And what’s more, is most of the people loudly griping about Trump, were perfectly happy with the past four years because THEY were OK.
-
The “smart money” and pod shoppers are the real cockroaches in the system. Pretty much worthless, zero value leeches.
-
True. Good point.

Sadly, government is not business. If it was we wouldn’t be where we are.

It’s like think about it. The “was there a plan” quandary so many are absolutely obsessed with. Well, was there? Or wasn’t there? I dunno. If I had to guess, I would it’s more likely than not there was some sort of strategy behind the approach…but I don’t give it a whole lot more thought than that. Because…what exactly do I get, if I know with absolute certainty, whether there was or wasn’t a plan? It’s the living definition of that saying “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”… but have fun guys.

Come on don’t we know by know that there’s no bigger POS mouthpiece than Larry Summers? The guy who is always predicting incoming disaster and spouting negativity, yet none of his predictions have come close to matching the dearth of things he’s been an utter failure at when it comes to actually flipping the cards over. https://ritholtz.com/2021/06/why-does-anyone-care-what-lawrence-summers-thinks/

This is just sooo naive. When have we ever got satisfactory answers? We still haven’t gotten much about Covid after being lied to nonstop for 5 years. Everyone was rooting on Jerry Powells “mind games” with the lingo and rhetoric because it was all about “the end result”. But now, for the first time ever! “We the people” need negotiation crippling detail and disclose about something that hasn’t even really started yet?

How much are you down since the inauguration?
Gregmal replied to Sweet's topic in General Discussion
Nah just dependent on the quality of ideas in front of me. Like Friday I mentioned I’d bought a LSD position in various call options on stuff like C, MGM and the way I structured it, super long dated; 2027+ and OTM, that gave me time and less drawdown risk. Cleared them a few days later. The whole trade was margin funded. So if you just think things through the probability grinder and then stick to your game plan the “margin call” risk really just comes down to how well you execute and whether your thesis was correct or not. While it’s true that sometimes correlations all go to 1, they’re never all one within various windows. -
Throughout this thread you seem to have this sense of entitlement that Trump or the administration has this obligation to disclose everything for you; to answer to your interrogations…why lol? The reason they aren’t disclosing is super fuckin simple! It’s the same reason many companies don’t disclose customer relationships or contracts; with full blessing from the SEC! It’s because it weakens your bargaining position….like wtf is so hard for people to understand about this? Crazy thing is that if this was a business or stock we were talking about, I’m 100% sure you’d understand this.

I get it to an extent; like when I was younger, as a Yankee and Devils fan, I’d occasionally tune in to Red Sox or Ranger games and enjoy rooting against them. It was kinda fun. I’m older now and have actually done a 180 where I enjoy just watching good sport, so I can watch both teams and just enjoy the experience versus being filled with negative energy as I did as a younger guy. But this shit now? Where we see grown adults vehemently rooting against our country, our economy, hoping for bad shit because they don’t like the politician that was democratically elected? That’s about as high up on the “piece of shit” spectrum as you can get. Wish everyone could just get along and prosper together.
-
Totally agree especially with the “emergency powers” thing which has become a total joke. It’s very much out of hand. But there are indeed real life human consequences. People losing jobs, people dying with the wars, etc. which is what makes the cheering and rooting for it by largely the elitist “I’ll be fine/Im insulated” crowd particularly disgusting.
-
Isn’t it a little bizarre that people seem to be rooting against the country just to have some weird personal “gotcha” with Trump? Like we ve seen numerous, deliberate, “this is happening and it’s bad” posted with joy, multiple people cheering on the continuation of the Wars just because “Trump said he would end it”, isn’t this a little pathetic?
