  1. When the U.S. said in its strategic review that its European allies were becoming less reliable, they weren’t kidding
  2. Norway's Sovereign Wealth Fund only going to get bigger...Norwegians winning off the stupidity of the UK/EU Meanwhile, UK decided North Sea was not worth it and taxed North Sea operators into oblivion thanks to environmentalist nutjobs
  3. https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-ursula-von-der-leyen-double-downs-in-face-of-energy-crisis-criticism/ Lol...she's doubling down! They have socialists as their "competition chief" drafting notes on this...LMAO. European leaders driving the clown car headed off a cliff. They would make Soviet leaders proud Don't be upset when the "far right" parties take over
  4. https://newsletter.doomberg.com/p/no-laffan-matter This is from late January 2026 (just about a month ago): We are 4 years into Russia-Ukraine, over 10 years since Crimea was invaded, and Europeans have yet to figure out a solution to their energy woes... Isn't it crazy that Europeans are still ruled by these people ???
  5. Europe looks much worse re: overall energy. It is highly exposed to the Strait of Hormuz. What is dire is the natural gas situation. Europe is lucky winter is ending, but it is quite comical that they haven't figured out how to make their energy system robust after all this time...
  6. Europe strikes again. Time for Ursula to call a meeting so the EU can put out a statement expressing lots of “concern” European gas storage at 5 year low (yeah, lower than any time since before Russia-Ukraine). That’s what happens when the people in leadership positions have no real skin in the game. I’m sure Ursula and the gang will figure this out. The continent has done a splendid job with energy for the past decade
  7. Well when a small country like Ukraine that has little relevance to the USA gets invaded by its neighbor and the U.S. contributes an inordinate amount of funds and arms so it can defend itself, what do you call that exactly? If it's just a vassal, why has the U.S. done so much for it??? When Europeans refuse to fund their own defense and instead fund their own lavish welfare programs and the U.S. has to contribute to their defense for decades, what do you call that exactly? And let's not forget what the U.S. did through WW2 and throughout the Cold War for Western Europe. Even Japan and Germany which were mortal enemies of the U.S. in WW2 are now close allies. The U.S. is a pretty benevolent superpower. I don't think China nor Russia would exhibit the same benevolence to smaller allies. It's one of many reasons why an alliance/partnership with the USA has been preferred by the world to any other would-be superpower and continues to be. You can look at Syria, Venezuela or Iran to see what the alternative to U.S. partnership offers....
  8. https://amp.scmp.com/news/china/military/article/3345445/us-decline-after-iran-strikes-maybe-not-chinese-analysts-say The world got the message after VZ and now Iran. America always looks messier from the outside than it really is.
  9. https://amp.scmp.com/news/china/military/article/3345445/us-decline-after-iran-strikes-maybe-not-chinese-analysts-say After Venezuela and now Iran, China got the message.
  10. I did not agree with Trump when he tore up the deal. However the deal really only prevented Iran from being about a year away from making a weapon. The “breakout time” in the Iran nuclear deal was one year—one year that they could break out and make a weapon. I think that the regime could not be trusted—even with inspectors. They could easily have sites off the map that could further enrich Uranium. I think they saw what having a weapon did for North Korea and made the decision to enrich so they too could eventually have a bomb. A nuclear Iran would be a disaster. You’d then have the Saudis insisting that they too develop their own nuclear capabilities. There is no real rational reason for Iran to have nuclear power plants. They have abundant fossil fuels. Them insisting on nuclear energy was a farce. I now think the regime could not be trusted even with that deal. The Soviet nonproliferation deal is different because the Soviets already had nuclear weapons and it was an accord between mutual super powers with disincentives to use such a weapon. Iran’s regime is different, making routine assertions about wiping the “Great Satan” (U.S) and Israel off the map. Funding terrorists all over the world. They should never be close to having such capabilities. Decapitating the Iranian regime also has a clear silver lining: it sends a message to every would-be tin pot dictator who dreams of having a nuclear weapon that they may meet the same fate if they try to build one. IMO allowing countries like North Korea and Pakistan to ever get their hands on such weapons were huge strategic failures of the west. Far better to decapitate and stop these things early as nuclear weapons are the ultimate black swan risk.
  11. Maybe. But it was still strange that the regime claimed it was their "right" to enrich Uranium for energy purposes. They are a highly fossil fuel rich nation--why do they need nuclear power? I would not give the regime the benefit of the doubt which is what Obama administration was willing to do And then of course, all along they were providing support to the Triple H terrorists: Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis...
  12. What a week it's been for Europe...just revealing how irrelevant & unprepared the continent has become https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/03/middle-east-war-gas-energy-lng-drone-qatar-strait-hormuz-price-shock.html https://www.ft.com/content/8f5f18fb-311d-4df0-805c-063b292506b3 It does seem like the German leader is getting it though:
  13. Well cry babys in Europe & Canada are arguing some gibberish about "International Law" (of course they didn't prod the regime in Iran much about that) Quite a good read on that subject: https://spectator.com/article/international-law-is-not-a-suicide-pact/?edition=us
  14. https://www.wsj.com/world/iran-china-war-strategy-4e0132fc?mod=WSJ_home_supertopperbottom_pos_4
  15. I think preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is long term oriented thinking.
  16. Very simplistic. China has provided nothing but words while the Iranian regime is decapitated. Venezuela another. Now, China prodding Iranian officials (are there any left?) to stop attacking Qatari gas and keep the Strait open...literally the only points of leverage the Iranian regime has left... Sends a clear message to everyone about the value of a friendship with China.
  17. Well you can compare how U.S. allies have fared over the past century or so to how Russian/Chinese allies have fared. Even Ukraine (which supposedly Trump does not like if you listen to the nutjobs) continues to get a lot of U.S. support in its fight with Russia. My assessment is being a U.S. ally/partner is way better for anyone concerned about their own self-interest.
  18. This is too funny...China's "friends" the Iranian Regime are getting pounded and what's China's message to them? Keep the Strait open and lay off Qatari gas, Saudi oil, etc.
  19. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/mar/03/china-calls-protection-vessels-strait-hormuz-amid-soaring-shipping-costs Both the CCP (Iran's "friend") and the President of the U.S. have a strong interest in keeping oil & gas flowing through the Strait ("the spice must flow"). I think that tells you a lot about where energy is likely headed after the recent spike.
  20. Considering all the drones, arms, etc that Iran has given Russia in its fight with Ukraine, Russia not doing anything material to help Iran's regime is especially noteworthy. It sends a clear signal to everyone in the world that thinks that allying with Russia/China will bear fruit one day...
  21. I think China is most concerned with their uncle point: energy transiting through the Strait of Hormuz. At the end of the day, China will always prioritize China--even over its friends.
  22. Pour one out for the countries (Syria, Venezuela, and now Iran) that thought a friendship with China & Russia meant they'd get something in return:
  23. The worth of having an alliance with China is revealed: Similar to an alliance with Russia... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-03-03/china-gas-buyers-say-beijing-pushing-iran-to-keep-hormuz-open China is clearly concerned about the Strait...it is their uncle point. They will not allow Tehran to terrorize the region with indiscriminate missile launches in the Gulf...
  24. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-03-03/trump-says-us-will-escort-insure-oil-tankers-amid-iran-war Yet another reminder that this president will do whatever he can to keep a lid on oil prices
  25. Oh boy, did Einhorn buy in near the top in Gold? Too funny
