  1. The problem with this administration is you have a bunch of kooks who want to suck up to DJT and pull antics like Pulte, Jeanine Pirro, etc. Then you have the more competent: Will Pulte be fired ? That or a cage match with him vs Bessent https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/09/08/scott-bessent-bill-pulte-blowup-00549956
  2. Canadian oil plays are the last place I'd look. The oil is pretty much stranded in a leftist country (lack of access to global markets) that doesn't like oil and wants to impose "windfall taxes" on the industry. WCS trades at persistent steep discount to WTI...today at $47 a barrel. And now Venezuelan heavy crude will compete with it at Gulf refiners. Thanks but I prefer not to light my money on fire. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-us-success-in-venezuela-could-cause-trouble-for-canadian-oil-producers-140033129.html
  3. Oh great, now a dumbass DJT bootlicker U.S. attorney wants to investigate Powell. Glad to see Powell clap back
  4. Exactly. No "blood in the streets" to be found.
  5. The crazy thing about oil is that if you buy merely when there is "blood in the streets", you could still be in for a decade more of bleeding. The commodity has historically had multi-decade periods where the returns were horrible. And the other thing is -- I would not call today "blood in the streets". Has any even independent/small oil company gone bankrupt? Hell, even SOC is limping along able to do an equity raise recently. Where exactly is this "blood in the streets" that @SharperDingaan is talking about? I have yet to see real pain in the sector
  6. WEB has bought when there was blood in the streets: when OXY was in trouble, he got a sweet preferred stock deal that he continues to reap from to this day. When Oxy needed liquidity again, he got OxyChem at a steal. Stop pretending Buffett is merely buying OXY common stock like the retail investors. Warren has made off much better than OXY common shareholders
  7. Even U.S. gasoline use looks like it has peaked... Also there's a chance the regime in Iran falls. So many reasons to avoid oil.
  8. Sorry, oil boys. Someone has to swallow all those Chinese EVs...
  9. https://www.wsj.com/business/energy-oil/trump-venezuela-oil-us-control-plan-265a39c1 Looool
  10. Even worse than cutting cables are the ships that were releasing drones to spy on German military assets such as its sub base in Kiel: https://ioplus.nl/en/posts/how-seven-students-unmasked-russias-drone-motherships There were also drones that stopped flights in Munich airport. Putin only understands hard power. The more Europeans let him get away with, the more bold he’ll be While Russia might feel like it can play these games in Europe and China play its games in Asia, Trump is making it clear to both China and Russia that these games will no longer be tolerated in the Western Hemisphere
  11. https://www.wsj.com/world/u-s-forces-launch-operation-to-seize-fleeing-oil-tanker-0d6443ab?mod=hp_lead_pos1 So the U.S. just seized a Russian ship being escorted by Russian submarine that violated U.S. Sanctions. Compare that to European countries that let Russian ships cut their underwater cables and unleash drones with no punishment whatsoever. This is the value of actually exercising hard power. So Trump has taken a Russian Black Market Ghost Ship and Putin’s buddy Maduro out. Remember when liberals claimed Trump was a Putin puppet ?
  12. The S&P 500 has been more than a 7-bagger since 2010 as the U.S. has had strong tailwinds since then. Buying value investor favorites has not panned out nearly as well. If you truly believe macro is turning around in Europe for many years to come, I think there are plenty of businesses that will give you better returns than some dynastic hold co that looks cheap today on a P/NAV basis. In fact, if you *truly* believe there is a turnaround in Europe, you should buy the most cyclical European companies because they will rip the hardest.
  13. From UMG annual report 2024: The business is mostly American. The currency is mostly USD. If USD devalues, that's worse for UMG which trades in Euros, particularly more so versus listed businesses that do all their business in Europe
  14. The underlying asset to BOL.PA and VIV.PA is really just UMG probably 80% or more. Nothing else really matters that much. UMG, despite being a european large cap, has underperformed. I don't think macro situation in Europe affects UMG's business. Rather, I think of UMG as a mostly American business that's listed in Europe.
  15. Are there index flows to these types of companies? Look at the U.S. market the past 15 years. The index went up a lot while value investor turds like land banks did mostly nothing.
  16. Last year the Euro Stoxx 50 was up about 35% in USD terms (or 20% in EUR terms) while "Dynastic European Companies" like BOL.PA were down 20% in EUR terms. Oh, and I didn't count dividends which push the Euro Stoxx up to near 40% in USD terms... Looks like these companies are the type of value trap investment that value investoooors love. Glad I kept my BOL.PA size very small.
  17. When they earn their freedom from Denmark, they will realize it is not easy to be an independent nation of 57,000 people with no real agriculture or major exports. The U.S. will make deals with them similar to Micronesia to preserve their culture. Orange man will be gone by this point so the 6% won't really matter (it's 6% now because they are triggered by Orange Man). The 57,000 people will be happy to have visa free access to the U.S. and the protection of the world's most powerful military.
  18. Greenland wants to be free -- they definitely don't want to live under the oppressive regulatory regime of the EU. When they are independent, they'll move much closer to the U.S. in terms of relations. There will probably be long term U.S.-Greenland deals & treaties hashed out at that point, maybe like Compact of Free Association (COFA) U.S. has with Marshall Islands. It's really Denmark standing in the way of freeing its colony. Europeans are anti-colonial leftists now (just ignore their long history of colonizing the entire world for hundreds of years), so they should free the indigenous & oppressed people of Greenland !
  19. This is pretty funny. A lot of VZ's oil reserves are probably made up by Chavez-Maduro regime. Ironically, the made up reserves probably at least partially contributed to U.S. capturing Maduro ...
  20. https://www.veriangroup.com/news-and-insights/opinion-poll-greenland-2025 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenlandic_independence Careful about those polls: Majority of Greenlanders don't want to be part of Denmark or Europe's "safety standards" or "long vacations" lol you are wrong about that buddy Is Denmark cool if Greenland becomes independent? I thought Europeans were all about "decolonizing" the world. They should let the people of Greenland have their Freedom
  21. https://www.wsj.com/opinion/international-law-venezuela-nicolas-maduro-united-nations-china-russia-c68f4427 As is common, the WSJ editorial board cuts through leftist hysteria...this time about "International Law"
  22. Another Democrat who says "I totally supported that thing...until Trump accomplished it". Make no mistake, if a Dem president conducted the operation over the weekend to capture Maduro, these guys and European leaders would be praising it. So much noise out there in politics land. These people just lie with a straight face day in and day out.
  23. It has been over a decade since Crimea was taken... how many more wake up calls does Europe need: https://www.politico.eu/article/europe-must-unite-or-its-finished-poland-donald-tusk-warns-us-donald-trump-salivates-over-greenland/
  24. https://www.dw.com/en/berlin-blackout-how-dangerous-are-leftwing-extremists/a-75400358 Brussels keeps telling us to worry about the "Far Right". Crickets when you discuss the leftist radicals who are on a mission to destroy the continent: A cold winter without power. But hey, since it's Leftist "environmentalist" terrorists involved, no need to make it a big story... These guys and their friends convinced Germans to shut down nuclear power and send manufacturing to China. They have done incredible work in destroying the continent
  25. This stuff is just TOO EFFING FUNNY !
