  1. Are you buying it directly or through ETF and if yes, which?
  2. And then maybe even Russia itself joins the alliance:). Sorry for the sarcasm, I am afraid that in this case or whatever the actual deal means, chances are going up as we speak I will have to start reading this 'living abroad' thread all over:)

  4. I think if MAGA works as expected (and I expect it will, at least to a some degree) just stay long US (perhaps even USD vs other currencies), and short or avoid basically everything else, which really means no major changes for me from the last 10+ years:))
  5. I recently bought a small position bellow 15 USD...nothing is better for a good timing as some blind luck I guess:)
  6. Thanks! This will be the first thing I will listen to asap:)
  7. Short term wise bond portfolio is matched with insurance liabilities and longer term higher rates is way better for FFH and I think the latter is also more important.
  8. It seems he even proposed an interesting solution:) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Import_certificates
  9. Who knows, but maybe all this selling is not some kind of mother of all market timing at all and is more related with future managment transition at BRK?

  11. Well for sure all this is way above my paygrade to answer:). But I quess Ukraine will get some more millitary equipment from the outgoing US administration so the question of sudden defeat would be postponed for another 6 or 12 month. But I think the real question is what will happen if US elections is won by a candidate promising to end everything in a few days. But would it necessarilly mean some kind of peace (temporary or not) or even more escallation (IIRC Trump himself boasted he once suggested that he would have bombed Moscow if Russia invaded Ukraine), anybody's guess is as good or likelly better than mine:). I pesonally think the chances of some kind of a truce or a frozen conflict are much higher with him. https://www.wsj.com/opinion/donald-trump-the-bully-with-a-heart-of-gold-2024-presidential-election-dd922dd6 Vladimir Putin knows it too, in Mr. Trump’s telling: “I said to Putin, ‘Vladimir, we have a great relationship.’ I got along with him great. He’s a different kind of a character, I will tell you, much different than anybody under—I knew him very well. I said, ‘Vladimir, if you go after Ukraine, I am going to hit you so hard, you’re not even going to believe it. I’m going to hit you right in the middle of fricking Moscow.’ I said, ‘We’re friends. I don’t want to do it, but I have no choice.’ He goes, ‘No way.’ I said, ‘Way.’ I said, ‘You’re going to be hit so hard, and I’m going to take those f— domes right off your head.’ Because, you know, he lives under the domes.”
  12. But what else he is going to say officially? Perhaps It is not unlike a CEO of a failing company, expressing his optimism to the end, no mater realities. https://www.economist.com/europe/2024/10/29/ukraine-is-now-struggling-to-cling-on-not-to-win The gloomy mood is evident in a shift in America’s language. Senior officials like Mr Austin still strike a confident note, promising that Ukraine will win. Those involved in the guts of planning in the Pentagon say that, in practice, the ambitions of early 2023—a Ukrainian force that could take back its territory or shock Russia into talks through a well-crafted armoured punch—have given way to a narrow focus on preventing defeat. “At this point we are thinking more and more about how Ukraine can survive,” says a person involved in that planning.
  13. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/01/us/politics/russia-ukraine-war.html American military and intelligence officials have concluded that the war in Ukraine is no longer a stalemate as Russia makes steady gains, and the sense of pessimism in Kyiv and Washington is deepening.
  14. Gee, when FFH will get BRK like famous one day, the guy will get infamous to the same degree, if he stays so stubborn:))

    Q3 - 2024

Now, I admit I am a little bit off line these days (Autumn school holidays:)), but does anyone has a good explanation of what has happened with FFH price yesterday:)? The results seem to be great, insurance in particullar, but does anyone expected this kind of market reaction? I do not see any news of them being added to that index or something, which was my first thought after seeing the price action:) No drama longterm wise though. Still cheap. Keep calm and carry on:)

    Q3 - 2024

Sorry if this was posted already recently, but there was a podcast and video with Ben last year: https://youtu.be/pJ7AKSQ2xBc https://vimeo.com/862872315 I think he is quite bright and still very young. Looks promising as a steward of FFH in the future.
  17. Yet this is not only about Muslims...too extensive safety net really do wonders anywhere and with anyone:) https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-society/3922033-zelensky-300000-ukrainians-neither-working-nor-looking-for-work-in-germany.html
  18. After 4 episodes I just love Fargo 5 season. They really righted the ship:). And its soundtrack (Prodigy!:)). And its accidental timing coincidence with real Halloween:)
