  1. I bought nearly the bottom on DIS, FB, and Exxon, during the coronavirus crash. I rode dis and fb up over 100 percent and back down to where they are now. Then like a genius I sold Exxon at a 20 percent gain. The market looks like it’s giving me a second chance with fb.
  2. A good big post for the have we reached the top discussion.
  3. I bought BOC. I’ll have a little faith around reported book.
  4. I’m loving all the responses here. When I invest with some sort of catalyst in mind selling is much easier almost automatic. selling “compounders” though is tough. Apple and MSFT for example. When I do the math backwards from a 5y 10 percent cagr multiples need to stay elevated with eps growth rates of 10 percent plus. Part of me says their great companies with optionality let it ride and who cares if I get 5 percent or maybe no returns for 5 years. I don’t need the money and I’m not capital restraint yet to add to other investments. Or maybe I’m just being naive.
  5. @Dynamic Thank you for the response. I really like the way you laid that out. I’ll be using this exercise on multiple investments. I’m stressing too much on current valuations and ignoring what those valuations may be in the future based on my earnings projections. What I’m doing sounds silly when I say it out loud .
  6. @dealraker A 20 mile day in DuPont ain’t no joke. That’s awesome!
  7. Sorry to reply on such an old thread, but I have urges to sell some things and make some reallocations in my accounts and @John Hjorth suggested I read some of @Dynamicposts. this one was great and will probably lead me to try and ignore some feelings that I’m having right now or until actual meaningful opportunities present themselves.
  8. This was a great move! Funny I find myself thinking about doing the opposite now.
  9. Have many people here tried rotating out of investments like apple and msft and into BRK during times like this when the market is feeling pricey? I’m not one to move to cash, but selling some big tech and increasing brk feels like a prudent move.
  10. Ya, the share price had gotten pretty low there for a bit, but I’m sure it is because of the fires. I just started looking into it. They did some buybacks, insiders have bought here and there. Has a weird structure still playing out with past ownership that’s doesn’t look great.
  11. I put perimeter solutions on my watchlist a few weeks ago. Sadly I didn’t buy. It had quite a rebound.
  12. I’m not that picky when it comes to chocolate. Speaking of see’s though I will be flying back into charlotte and I really hope they restocked their See’s stand. It was wiped out on the way out.
  13. We went to the time out market. That place was intense! Food court on steroids. This is my third trip to Spain and probably my favorite. We have spent most the time in the Asturias. Somiedo national park has been our favorite place so far.
  14. That is awesome! I can’t imagine doing that. I’m flying into Lisbon this weekend and driving/cycling to picos de Europa. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  15. That was a great post. Thank you for sharing.
  16. Happy to see another BOC holder. Excited to see how this one plays out.
  17. Did I hear correctly that Buffett said they were building for TSMC?
  18. Good point! Does anyone think in the next 5 years or so BRK will just become a cannibal story or is that pretty much already happening.
  19. Not to mention brk has matched/outperformed marginally without lofty multiple expansion and a modest book ratio. Yes I would love for everyone to wake up and value my assets to silly prices tomorrow, but while I’m accumulating I like to pretend I’m happy they don’t.
  20. @thepupil I also don’t know if UNP is really out performing by much. Increasing operating margins can be done while decreasing reliability and safety. I’m not sure if I want BRK to operate in that manner to beat expectations.
  21. I’m surprised how many people don’t hold Berkshire. My retirement account is very limited and is 100 percent in the S&P. Brokerage and tax advantage rough estimates: Brk: 40% AMZN: 15% Goog:10% MKL:10% Aapl:6% META:4% MSFT:2% DJCO:2% DIS:2% Less than 2 BOC NTDOY PROSY BABA WWW CC DVA BN RMAX OXY SD VICI IAC WBD PARA
  22. On a Apple TV show Shrinking, a kid wants a switch for his birthday. There is some more confirmation for your Nintendo investment. Sorry I just saw that the other day and it felt a little good as a shareholder.
