I added to Fairfax. I feel like a broken record this year.

I’m not judging. Just sharing something that I thought seemed odd and not authentic. We stayed with a few families in Airbnbs throughout Cuba. That’s cool you have made some close connections there.
-
Even the tours in Cuba seemed controlled by the Government. They took us by like 4 things and I kid you not this is what they said “this is the local hospital, it is very good” “this is the university, it is very good” I think one of the other buildings was a government building they took us by.

Thank you for the information. I’ll be looking forward to my next visit. -
I went to Cuba in 2017 I think. There was a huge push by locals to make cash from tourists. Government had a little too much financial influence on hotels, restaurants, and taxis from what I gathered. Our host provided us with drivers outside the local taxi system. She seemed like she had a community of services to provide outside of the government’s control. One of them was a college educated engineer and he said he made more driving in a week than a month being an engineer. There was a huge push by locals to start airbnbs as well at the time.

Some of those Tin house beers sound great. I have had a few of the ones on the thirsty beer blog. Seasquench and Westbrook are very easy drinking summer beers. Sour monkey packs a punch and is decent for an off the shelf beer. One of the only breweries by me with mostly sours is the Funkatorium by Wicked Weed. Their sours are great. They have a decent bottle selection as well. -
He had great energy in his presentation. Sounds like a great pitch for a very important product.

@SharperDingaan Sours for some strange reason are my favorite. I’ve never see a pear one. Do you have a recommendation? -
I’m not sure if it was already posted, but I really enjoyed this presentation on AGT.

I also added to BRK today.

Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting 2026
Whensthepaintdry? replied to good-investing's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
I really like that he is bringing other managers up to the stage. I feel like putting them in the light and being recognized could drive greater performance. Money only drives people for so far. -
I trimmed some google and Amazon in tax free accounts and bought ffh

I really don’t understand how mkl sells off this bad on this earnings report especially when you would consider the holders of these types of companies to be more informed. I added to both companies today. Maybe I just don’t know any better.

Just added to mkl and ffh.

Congratulations! I have a one-year-old, so I’m also open to any advice. I’ve always heard that children grow up so quickly, and it’s definitely true. I barely remember him being small enough to fit on my forearm. The sleepless nights are a distant memory (hopefully they stay that way). My wife is 41, and I’m 38. I’ve really started focusing on improving my mobility because I want to be his go to playmate and try to keep up with him for as long as possible.

I know some of you don’t like this guy. I think it’s all very interesting.

Does anyone remember if you can listen to it on quarter?

Does anyone have a good reason for why Amazon is investing in open AI

Apart from being concerned, I’ll continue buying cheap stocks. I lack the knowledge to do anything more intelligent.

I know some of you didn’t care for that predictive history YouTube guy. He’s been pretty spot on about a lot of this and the escalation. For someone like me who knows close to nothing about the Middle East it has me a little worried where all this is going. Supposedly a reserve at work just got notified of a deployment to Iran.

Buffett/Berkshire - general news
Whensthepaintdry? replied to fareastwarriors's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
I mean they were buying Len, pool, and dpz at higher prices. Maybe they will keep on nibbling. -
I just bought my first shares of csu. I can’t think of a stock that is more anti narrative right now. I am not wiling to take it up to anything more than a few percent.
-
I also wondered if they would buy a piece of Hikari Tsushin. It’s pretty small so probably not. They hold almost 1b in brk a. Plus many holdings of other Japanese companies.
