How and what assets will get added into this fund?

I can imagine if NIH funds a biotech or licenses a patent, the warrants/stock can be in this fund. What about SBR (BTC)? will that be in this fund?

Let me guess, the same people whom are always critical of Trump, will now present us their bs analytical case for why this is stupid or unnecessary or doesnt make any sense?

I think it needs to be approved by Congress so if it happens, it happens pretty quickly.  Could be bullish for BRK.....

seems like a decent starting description to me.

I'm old enough to remember when the republicans wanted to privatize SS, not seize it for benefit of cryptocronies / pet projects / etc.

of course detail is so scant that anyone's pre-existing biases will be confirmed. arguing over the merits of a strange hypothetical SWF is almost certainly a fruitless exercise.

Not normally (publically) critical of Trump.  Maybe this is a stupid question, but... why have a Sovereign Wealth Fund when you have a lot of Sovereign Debt?

Norway is a slightly different beast.

I think it's a really interesting idea as long as it's managed completely independently.  The real question is where's the money going to come from? Most countries use their trade surpluses.  When you're running $tn deficits you need every penny you can find to keep the lights on.  To be meaningful this needs to be a $trillion fund.

I don't think establishing a sovereign wealth fund during record high market valuations is a good idea. But what do I know?

It doesn't have to invest in stocks.  If you're doing something for the next 100 years the current valuations are somewhat moot.

Why would that be a material issue?  Does every SWF, and every professional money manager hold only cash?   Should they all shut down?

Weren't these the same people talking about how the governmental bureaucracy is stupid and inefficient?

I think it’s interesting to see government trying to do things differently. I don’t know how there is a single critic in the world complaining about DOGE…yea, reigning in waste…horrible idea. Sovereign fund? IDK let’s explore it. Hard balling tariffs to get border secured…ok…what’s the problem? Already seeing it make some waves.

Bottom line is government is broken and a failure. It’s the NY highway problem at the route of what a lot of this is seeking to solve. Ask the NYS officials to build a highway and it takes 3x as long as private sector would’ve, at 3x the cost. Footed by taxpayers whom are already getting robbed. These sorta ideas are a step towards ridding ourselves of that crap.

The bubble gets bigger

Your cash on one side, betting against the hourglass, waiting for sovereign nations that can print their own cash…. to leave the game so you can get your 13.5x EPS number….good luck with that.

The government owns warrants for 79.9% of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which Ackman estimates could be worth $300B over time.
