Wow - that is one spectacular success story. Every young person should internalize it.  I love Germany, it's one of the greatest countries in the world - and this kid gets it.

 

I firmly believe that you can not grow or realize your greatest potential unless you are willing to FAIL multiple times.  You learn far more from failure than success. 

 

And you can categorize different areas of America in their attitudes toward growth and success. Silicon Valley being the place where failure is honored as a virtue.  This kid cuts right to the chase.

Not at all.  We are brothers with Europe.

 

We're just sick of Europeans constantly talking down to Americans while doing nothing for anyone else.  

 

Mostly what comes out of Europe is all talk - no action.

Europeans have wonderful culture, art, traditions and spectacular beauty. Americans TRULY admire those aspects of Europe.

 

We hope you can keep all of that in the face of a radical Islamic invasion.

Probably as it get page views . I have been in exactly the same shoes than this fellow many years ago. I never felt there is indoctrination in Europe about America. Most Feinds admired me for getting there chance to try my luck there , even though others felt they would not do it themself. I knew friend from the US (military) as well as exchange students from the US as well.  was not one of them who through it was all bad. Europeans know Amerika better other way around. Culture is actually well projected especially through family shows. This was even before you could check the Internet with out hundred of sources. I for example through that these ridicolous prom festivities are something that movies exaggerate and then when I got there I found that this is really what is happening in every high school. We had nothing of this sort in Germany.

 

Then I had some Gf showing me the ropes.

 When you emigrate, you find things that are much better then expected and other that are more difficult. You go from the honeymoon phase (everything is new and interesting) to a frustration phase (many things are difficult and you miss home and your friends and  family) to, ok- I can handle this. The. You become a hybrid where every time you go back, your home feels a bit less familiar and stranger

Sigh…it’s all very tiresome. But this is what you get when you’re too afraid to “offend” and don’t have real Free Speech.

 

Of course now no one trusts Google reviews so this is a “win” for the politicians against “big, bad American tech companies” that try to have honest restaurant reviews.

 

Sad to see Germany mimic the GDR/Soviets in some ways

You’re clueless. Europeans (really the world), are negative about America way more than the other way around.
 

Look at the politics thread on this forum. Most Americans don’t know who Macron or Merz or Ursula is whereas Europeans are much more tuned in to the happenings of America and constantly make jokes and insults about the current U.S. President in particular. We Americans don’t really mind or whine about it as much as you though…

 

Some of us Americans though do want Europe to be a better place for capitalism and economic prosperity. And for that, we have a single thread on a single forum on the internet (this one). Now go read Reddit. You will find many negative posts about America and almost none about Europe. Frankly, very few people care enough about Europe relative to America.

I fail to see a Gestapo here. The same thing happened to me in the US actually. If a business complains about a review being offensive, Google may take it down. This has nothing to do with with free speech, it is just Google being lazy and they don’t want any trouble.

You can find plenty of bad reviews of restaurants even with review gaming being a real thing everywhere including Europe:

On the same token you make excuses for  X de- platforming unwelcome accounts because it is a private platform. What do you think Google maps is?
