whatstheofficerproblem Posted yesterday at 09:59 PM Posted yesterday at 09:59 PM Alright. Moving to NYC end of the month. Anyone have apartment recommendations in FiDi? Would prefer something with a private outdoor, doesn't matter if its small.
LC Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Hah, awesome! I've got friends in Flatbush and ridgewood, if you're interested in either I could ask around. Nobody lived down by wall street when I was in NYC. But - hit up Parisi's for lunch. Some of the best sandwiches in the city at least back in my day. They're still around and presumably still legit.
LC Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Oh, and find somewhere and get a knish before they're all gone. The story of the knish is the story of 20th century NYC if you ask me!

Its dead on weekends except for tourists and there's nothing really down there. Go somewhere interesting- even a 10 minute train ride will take you to lower east side, Tribeca, little Italy, etc. Even Brooklyn. Get a flavor for the real NY - you won't get that in a brand new condo in Financial District.

Liquidia LEAPs, working for a hedge fund, moving to NY. What did you study at university? Do you not have a family? You don´t have to answer if it is too private.

I am a data science major. I have already been working for a subscale hedge fund out of college, been a year now. Moving to bigger firm now. No family here, moved to this country on my own when I was 19.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck going forward, @whatstheofficerproblem !, With that said, you're also forgiven to post push back to NYC dirt & trash talk in this topic, which it's over time evolved to become! whatstheofficerproblem Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Haha, ty @John Hjorth. I think a lot of NYC's shortcomings are as much related to the sheer population density as is the politics. Haven't seen a city so packed since I left India.

I was in a similar situation starting off...they were technically here, as in location...present, but otherwise not relevant in my life, and it's such a huge advantage getting off the ground. Honestly, the less you have, the more drive and focus there is to go get something for yourself. You're gonna do quite well if you just stay focused. Dont let the punani get in the way either LOL

I think my age, ethnicity and country of origin are already well known to the members of CoBF. It has indeed been helpful with folks reaching out to me on immigration workflows etc. Since you've given me the free pass to rant about NYC.. Fuck NYC. Four grand a month is a mortgage on a house with a yard in most of the country, a yard where nobody would say a word about you smoking, grilling, or doing whatever you want. In NYC it gets you 400 square feet and a rulebook. Imagine paying $4k/mo + amenities and not being able to smoke on the terrace. I don't smoke indoors as that's something only imbeciles do, but on your own private terrace? Something very wrong with the real estate market. 1 hour ago, Gregmal said: I was in a similar situation starting off...they were technically here, as in location...present, but otherwise not relevant in my life, and it's such a huge advantage getting off the ground. I just had a shitty family situation and my work became the escape from it. So in my 20s family was not a distraction since I didnt have much of one myself at that point.
LC Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Please don't listen to these married virgins And ignore all that loser manosphere crap. You know what women don't find attractive? Men who use the words 'hypergamous' and 'hybristophilic'. Good hygene, a good nature, and kindness will get you 90% of the way there. Go chase those 25 year old women, it's literally the biggest selling point of being in NYC. Saving fun for when you're 40 is the lamest thing you can do. Youth >>>>>>>>> money, every day of the week. It's a 2BR available for $7,500 / month. the living room was cut in half to create a 3rd bedroom. A reasonable trio would split this, $3,000/mo $2,500/mo, $2,000 / month or something like that ($3K gets the en suite, $2.5K gets the real bedroom / shares bathroom, $2K gets the fake bedroom share bathroom). (the $3K guy is getting the best deal but paying the most)...it was a doorman building / pretty nice. It was $5,100 15 years ago, so has only gone up by 2.5%/yr, less than inflation and less than low end junior comp at banks / HF / etc. NYC housing is affordable if you have a great job (a hedge fund job certainly qualifies) and are willing to room up which is fun when you're young. are you only looking at studios / 1BR? you don't have to spend $4K...that gets you half of a luxury 2BR which is way too much for someone just outta college. "You know what's loser mentality? Whining about homelessness, just go buy a home" - Says the man who has a mansion. Bad analogy, but you folks lucked out being born in a different era. As much as I disdain the manosphere clowns, some facts are not refutable. 1 hour ago, LC said: Good hygene, a good nature, and kindness will get you 90% of the way there. No offense LC, but answers like these are why the youngins fall for those retard manosphere exploiters. You really think most folks my age haven't tried that? . My generation is literally living in that rat utopia experiment. This is also who the "looksmaxxing" crowd have gained such popularity as of late. 44 minutes ago, thepupil said: are you only looking at studios / 1BR? you don't have to spend $4K...that gets you half of a luxury 2BR which is way too much for someone just outta college. There are no 1BRs under $5k unfortunately. Studios costing closer to $4k now.. I can afford that, affordability is not my problem. Not being able to light a cigarette in my own balcony is.
LC Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I'm just saying, lots of men out there have bad experiences and wind up resenting women for one reason or another...that's no way to live, no way to find a partner and no way to build a healthy relationship. Good lucky buddy, you're wealthier, younger, smarter, and probably more handsome than I - go knock it out of the park! Next time I'm in the city I'll shoot you a message, I at least owe you a round or a dinner!
