Liberty Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 Another one I really liked. This interview of Peter Attia by Dan Harris gets pretty personal in the middle part, but it's pretty powerful stuff. It covers meditation, childhood trauma, over-achieving urges, etc. Good stuff. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/202-can-meditation-prolong-your-life-dr-peter-attia/id1087147821?i=1000447987039
alpha231616967560 Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Patrick O'Shaughnessy interviewing Bill Gurley is always a fascinating conversation. This one on IPO finance was particularly illuminating for me. https://pca.st/bn7ceysc Invest Like the Best has become my favorite financial podcast, partly because Patrick is not afraid to stray away from finance in search of interesting conversations. His interview with Boys Varty is my favorite in that vein: https://pca.st/iU9U Cheers

Two others that he did away from finance and that introduced me to two fascinating people are his interviews with Jocko Willink (ex-Navy SEAL, has his own great podcast where he reads from military history books, amazing stuff, start chronologically) and Peter Attia (who I've already mentioned here often).

I could swear I had first heard of Jocko via Patrick, maybe some other guest mentioned him? But it's probably just my memory failing me... I know he's done interviews with Tim Ferriss and maybe Joe Rogan before starting his own podcast, so maybe that's what I was thinking of.
Spekulatius Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Oddlots –How financial repression in China helped cause the trade war https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/odd-lots/id1056200096?i=1000451738498 It’s pretty good to at explaining the underlying reasons for the trade imbalances (saving rates!) and what may happen next.
Liberty Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 I enjoyed this Founders' Podcast episode that goes through highlights from 21 shareholder letters from Jeff Bezos. Even having read them all previously, it was good to refresh my memory: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/71-jeff-bezos-shareholder-letters-all-of-them/id1141877104?i=1000437859575
Spekulatius Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 I very much enjoyed this podcast from Jolly Swagman hosting Marc Cohodes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-jolly-swagman-podcast/id1236553683?i=1000443953331 I had to tone it down at home due the use of colorful aphorisms by Marc Cohodes. :o This podcast is best enjoyed with the one with John Hampton as these guys know each other well.
perulv Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Interview/conversation with Daniel Kahneman (Nobel price winner, author of Thinking fast and slow) by Shane Parrish: https://fs.blog/daniel-kahneman/ Not finance/investing directly, and probably familiar stuff if you have read him before. But it is always interesting to listen to Daniel Kahneman. He gives some pretty concrete advice for better decision-making. It is also a good reminder for the rest of us, to hear how humble and realistic (that is: not optimistic) he is about recognizing our own biases and improve our thinking.
ValueGroupie Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Gavin Baker talking mostly about tech and specifically the video games industry. I'm not that into tech but still enjoyed it very much. http://investorfieldguide.com/baker/ Another "Invest like the best" Podcast episode with anonymous blogger "Jesse Livermore". Great Stuff. http://investorfieldguide.com/livermore/ Joel Greenblatt on his career and how his was able achieve the returns he had. Says he made 100%+ p.a. for 3 years on his portfolio before the started Gotham. http://valueinvestingwithlegends.libsyn.com/leon-greenblatt-investing-off-the-beaten-path Joe Rogan interviews Chuck Palahniuk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8ZCX0eywXw
Liberty Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 The Gavin Baker interview on ILTB was great. The two before that, with the Instragram co-founders and with the Spotify CEO were also great.
Liberty Posted November 29, 2019 Author Posted November 29, 2019 Good new interview of Peter Attia by Tim Ferriss: https://tim.blog/2019/11/27/peter-attia-fasting-metforming-longevity/

Spekulatius Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Oddlots - “How online dating is reshaping the economy” is a fantastic episode, imo: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/odd-lots/id1056200096?i=1000459731481
Liberty Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 A few ones I heard recently: Two on sugar/fructose and impacts on metabolic syndrome, NAFLD, diabetes, various diseases, etc: https://peterattiamd.com/roblustig/ https://peterattiamd.com/rickjohnson/ Two on nuclear fusion: http://omegataupodcast.net/22-nuclear-fusion-at-mpi-fur-plasmaphysik/ http://omegataupodcast.net/157-fusion-at-iter/
Liberty Posted January 16, 2020 Author Posted January 16, 2020 This is a bit different, but I thought this interview with Tom Catena, a MD doing medicine in Soudan, was pretty amazing: https://peterattiamd.com/tomcatena/ The topic might not interest you at first glance, but give it a try, at least 10-15 minutes.
Liberty Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 https://overcast.fm/+T6hF2gHI Great interview with physicist from ITER about the research fusion reactor. Super impressive and fascinating.
EricSchleien Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I interviewed one of my colleagues who has trained a lot of the monks for the Dalai Lama, currently works for PayPal and Google, and worked with Chip Wilson to help start Lululemon from 0. One of the most extraordinary human beings I've ever met in my life. https://ericschleien.com/podcast/scott-forgey-google-paypal-how-to-keep-large-companies-innovative/
CorpRaider Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Will Danoff from Fido Contra Fund was on the Long View podcast (from Morningstar). Also, Peter Attia interviewed Sam Zell on the Tim Ferris podcast (did you get all that). It was good. Worth a listen even if you've heard him do his thing many times before.
Liberty Posted February 5, 2020 Author Posted February 5, 2020 It's a youtube video rather than a podcast, but I enjoyed this one:
mrholty Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 I went thru a phase where I was burned out on most investing podcasts so I had to take a break. I found the We're Alive podcast - a Zombie podcast with hundreds of episodes. Well done, lots of twists and turns and great character development. It got so addicting to me that I listened to it for hours each night. Not the typical rec but sometimes you need to turn off the brain and relax.
Liberty Posted February 10, 2020 Author Posted February 10, 2020 I'm enjoying this interview with Jim Keller (engineer working on CPU design). This is what a clear-thinking engineer who naturally thinks in systems and first principles sounds like. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jim-keller-moores-law-microprocessors-abstractions/id1434243584?i=1000464730369
Liberty Posted February 10, 2020 Author Posted February 10, 2020 Enjoyed this interview with Bill Janeway: https://podcasts.apple.com/co/podcast/william-janeway-on-whats-needed-for-the-innovation-economy/id730188152?i=1000418387289 There's another one here that I haven't listened to yet: https://podcasts.apple.com/fr/podcast/an-interview-with-bill-janeway-masters-in-business-audio/id730188152?i=1000371825929
Spekulatius Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I enjoyed the Motley Fool Podcast with Ben Hunter (Epsilon theory). They discussed a bunch of topics, including the importance for the CEO to generate narrative, stock buybacks as well as a bunch of other things. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/industry-focus/id717428711?i=1000466372547 I think especially his observation that narratives seem to be more important than fundamentals nowadays is an interesting factoid that has occasional been touched here.
Liberty Posted March 12, 2020 Author Posted March 12, 2020 Good interview with biogerontologist Aubrey de Grey, mostly about research into the diseases of aging, a little about AI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-z0kglwpwo
