Liberty Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Good luck avoiding discussions about politics at the dinner table. ;) Cheers!
DooDiligence Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Courtesy of Lord Single Malt on Twitter: If you’re a republican having thanksgiving dinner with your democrat family, as you go around the table saying what you’re thankful for, I highly encourage you to say “the electoral college.” --- Probably belongs on the Tell Me a Joke thread but it just felt right to add it here (I've been wrong before.)

Or you could say..."I'm thankful for not being Al Franken...Sad! Cheers!
Jurgis Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 It took 3 posts to turn this into politics thread...
DooDiligence Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 It took 3 posts to turn this into politics thread... Apologies. I haven't even bothered looking at anything in the politics section. Just thought this was funny (oh, well...)

cobafdek Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Sorry - I should have linked to this article several days ago, to give time for those who want to try this method. So save it for next year. The best and amazingly easy way to (dry) brine a turkey. I've been doing this since 2008 when the LA Times food writer first reported it, so it's my 10th year. http://beta.latimes.com/la-fo-turkey19-2008nov19-story.html Happy Thanksgiving all!
LC Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 And for those who would rather a wet brine, I'm partial to Alton Brown's method of brining: And I've been cooking the bird this way for years:
DocSnowball Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading this, wherever in the world you are!
cobafdek Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 And for those who would rather a wet brine, I'm partial to Alton Brown's method of brining: And I've been cooking the bird this way for years: Cooking is a real science!, unlike economics and business decision making! So I choose dry brining: much more simple and straightforward! Simple and straightforward works in real science! Happy Thanksgiving!
LC Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 I love cooking - Good Eats is a great program that shows a bit of science and a lot of technique. There's an awesome fan/reference website as well: http://www.goodeatsfanpage.com/gefp/index-topic.htm As Jacques Pepin says, "Happy Cooking!"
cobafdek Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 http://www.goodeatsfanpage.com/gefp/index-topic Besides the ones on the website, any other sweet potato recipes you recommend? (Recipe links not working.) Thanks!
LC Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 I usually go with Alton brown or Serious Eats. Here's serious eats' take on mashed sweet potatoes: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/11/the-best-mashed-sweet-potatoes-recipe.html
CONeal Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. Eat like no one is going to see you naked.
