So, lately, Bitcoin has been behaving a lot more like the QQQ than Gold. All of these things are denominated in US dollars, so that part of the equation should be equalized between them.

Did this podcast already get passed around here? This is long, maybe skip ahead to the actual interview. But a good interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gStOMoLx-SQ

I know it's hard for you guys but try to keep the political back and forth on the threads labeled 'Political' so the rest of us can ignore it. Peace

American companies that will benefit from tariffs?
gfp replied to flesh's topic in General Discussion
Well I agree with some of that but "this can run for 300k miles" is a total guess! We have no experience with the longevity of these new turbo engines. Hope for the best. I drive a 2013 200 series land cruiser. The lx700h is the only vehicle currently tempting me to make a change. Nori green overtrail trim would be fine by me. Congrats on the new GX - I think that is a much better vehicle than the land cruiser prado 250 series with the 4cyl. Was it around $66k? -

new GX550? I'm kind of bummed because I planned my next car to be lx700h overtrail but I want to buy a used one in a few years and now there won't be any supply. supply was already going to be thin. I aint paying $115k for a toyota truck -
Luckily, Berkshire is already building the infrastructure -> https://www.wwafcosteel.com (look through Projects -> manufacturing/distribution & industrial)

I'm with Gopi on this one. But I don't see Fairfax offering shares in a deal and people have told me they vowed to keep these two entities separate. Who knows. Gotta come up with some capital to grow FIH some kinda way. Adding complicated GP/LP co-investment structures have worked OK in the past but simple is better

Couple of insider purchase disclosures this morning - one in TITN (a Praetorian PR holding) by the chairman of the board right after earnings / inventory reduction report - https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1409171/000140917125000016/xslF345X05/wk-form4_1742910914.xml Another buy by Tillman Fertitta, who has been accumulating shares of WYNN https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1080301/000110465925027556/xslF345X05/tm2510176d1_4seq1.xml (plus Stanley Zax over at KW last week. I posted it in the KW thread I think) https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1408100/000140810025000096/xslF345X03/wk-form4_1742422242.xml

Which activities in life brings you the most fun?
gfp replied to Charlie's topic in General Discussion
That's awesome @Buckeye - I have owned a 1964 Allstate 125 since around 1999. The original Sears brand that launched Allstate insurance. It looks similar to yours (but mine is in all rusty and messed up) but the handlebars are slightly more modern. Same bicycle seat but I have a pillion passenger "seat" on top of the parcel rack. -
@awindenberger maybe?

I don't fully understand your thesis moatrep, but this all sounds like a money-losing trade unless you just happen to get lucky on multiple factors simultaneously. This is a mistake a lot of young investors make and I would assume you are fairly young. If this idea involves more than a tiny amount of money, just skip it and find a real business to invest in. If you think Occidental is that business, that is fine. But forget about the Iran / timing angle. If you want leverage on OXY, use the 22 strike warrants as soon as the sweetened exercise window closes and they go back to trading for barely any premium outside of the forgone dividend. The president wants oil to be cheap. That's bad for business generally speaking

sounds bad! If only there were some way we could lure some young latinos to our country - we'd have it made!

I guess I wasn't paying attention, but was recently reminded that Rational Walk is "web_rules" from the old value message boards and Brooklyn investor is "veryearly" from the old value message boards. Now I feel like I've known 'em for decades... Hopefully it is not considered doxxing to connect pseudonyms to other pseudonyms (is this what it's like on the blockchain bros?). At least Wabuffo has maintained his pseudonym to make it easy on the old timers. And dealraker of course - but even then I've seen chompin and several other variations to keep up Anyway, on the topic of compensation at BRK, I would love to see Greg Abel adopt a $100k salary shortly after taking the top job. I will be very pleased when it happens and believe "tone at the top" is priceless! See you then for either 1.) an "I told you so" or 2.) "oops"

Just finished watching this - really a must watch. More important than the Tsec interview. Thanks for the link

I got filled at 16.55, 16.66 and 16.77 today. Usually I wouldn't buy shares breaking down from that perfect head and shoulders top and all those recent clueless buyers that came out of nowhere to push this into the 20's. But I don't believe this thing gets pushed back to 14 or whatever the technical pattern suggests. I would be excited if it did. But you can't count on that happening. The airport, surrounding airport city development and the potential option on the 2nd airport get more valuable the longer it takes to IPO anchorage. The IPO might mark the end of our opportunity to accumulate shares at an attractive discount. That's bad news for me when it happens, not good news.

Thanks - that’s the one I meant to link. ceo.ca is better. Cheers!

Not me - I want to read every page of Brett Horn and Muddy Waters on Fairfax when it goes against my position. If they've got nothing, great. But I want to read it.

You can usually tell their repurchase activity on SEDI but Canadian securities filings are such a pain in the ass to retrieve. I still don't know how to check SEDI filings for free without using https://www.canadianinsider.com/node/7?menu_tickersearch=FFH+|+Fairfax+Financial+Holding
