Altria mentioned it on the call at least once if I am not mistaken that PM claims that Altria failed to uphold its end of the bargain and there is a dispute whether or not IQOS and its later versions will be sold by Altria. Also, you can also terminate Swedish Match salesforce and have Altria sell Zyn.

Yes, $15bn is an absolute steal. I am really unhappy about the price, the only saving grace is that I own PM as well. There should be tremendous synergies, particularly in distribution in the US. Fair price would probably be $25-30bn USD. Hell, analysts expect SEK 5.50 in EPS in 2024, and that's before recent USD strength. So 100 SEK offer is what, an 18 p/e pre synergies.

Parsad, I am in NY metropolitan area. Also, have three kids, ages 6, 3 and 1. Ship could be tough. I am actually thinking of cancelling my vacation. My fear is that whatever flight I end up booking with United, it will get canceled. Competing flights have doubled in price since I booked my original flight three months ago. I did email both Senators from the State of NY, my Congressional Representative and filed a complaint with attorney general's office of NJ. I emailed the CEO, chairman of the board and a couple of other executives after the first flight cancellation. I will email the entire board of directors tomorrow. If anyone has a good idea how to make United think twice about doing this in the future, I would very much appreciate the suggestions.

So, my new flight with United got cancelled for the second time. Time for us to fight back, otherwise they will cancelling flights five minutes before departure and sending us around the world

OT: Getting into top colleges when graduating from a smaller/poorer state
Dinar replied to a topic in General Discussion
Very good idea. A friend from college (BS/MS in molecular biophysics/biochemistry + BS/MS in computer science, all in 4 years) is planning to move his two kids from NJ to California before high school so it is easier for them to make it to East coast schools. When I was in college, it was a lot easier for kids from Hawaii/West Virginia/North Dakota to make it to good schools than from NYC/Bergen County/Fairfield county. Administrators openly acknowledge this. -
We flew to Hawaii twice. Once with a 15 month old and once with a 22 month old. It was a very long flight - NYC to Honolulu, Honolulu to Maui. Look, try to bring ways to entertain the kid as much as possible so that he/she creates as little disturbance as possible. On the flights that we took, out of 18 business class seats - NYC/Maui, 6 were occupied by families with kids (3 adult pairs with 3 toddlers.) The older the people are, the more understanding they happen to be. The only time we got a nasty look was from a gay couple, but even they did not say a word. But key is to be able to entertain the child. If the child cries for an hour during flight (out of 11) people understand. Four or five hours, people will be justifiably mad. In any case, you should do it. One should be considerate of others, but long flights are painful with a small child, think of yourself as well. Also, if your kids wails in premium economy, trust me, business will hear it.

Real estate tends to be the easiest. I own NEN & AIV. EQR/ELS are two good examples.

Thank you very much. By the way, I think MSFT is at 24.5x P/E. ($270 - $8 net cash & investment)/ 10.7 (FY 2023, starts July 1st consensus estimate.)

Why do you think that Microsoft and Alphabet are insanely valued? What in your opinion is fair? Thank you in advance.

Pupil, which munis do you find attractive? Thank you in advance

Gregmal, I agree, but there is no way to get from NY to Hawaii other than by plane.

I think that what he is trying to say is that Putin needs to declare a victory. Whether that is truly a victory or defeat is another matter. Essentially Putin needs to save face. At least that is my reading. May be I am wrong.

I agree with you.

Well, everything is relative isn't it? Being punched in the head by Mike Tyson is not a big deal to Golovkin, probably would be consequential to you? It may be inconsequential to you but it is to me. When I was a 20 year old student, it would not have been a problem. Today with three kids all 6 and under, three or four extra hours in airport and flight is a headache. The biggest problem is that they can do this again, and route me via Zimbabwe if they so chose.

Thank you very much, will check it out.

Thank you very much.

I do not want to yell at airline employees, executives yes, should be fired! Our 18th and 19th century ancestors would either think that we are very lucky, or chop the head off offending merchants. I expect a contract to be binding on both parties, not heads I lose tails you win. It is an 11 hour direct flight, so indirect would be 14. Doing something fun with the kids is easy in Central Park or Metropolitan Museum of Art, Denver airport after getting up at 5 am for a flight with three little kids a bit tougher. You have a very healthy attitude, I am doing the trip for the kids, would have gone to Europe for myself. Yes, I need to triple my net worth in real terms before I can afford private jet to Hawaii, something to aspire to. But yes, I need to adopt your attitude and just roll with it, life will be much happier.

Thank you. I am not on Twitter, may be I should sign up.

Does anyone know who email addresses are assigned at United Airlines? We just got bounced from our flight scheduled for June of 2022 (business class), direct and rebooked to an indirect with an hour lay-over. It is never acceptable, but particularly when we have 3 kids 6 and under. I would like to give executives hell, and was wondering whether anyone knows how email addresses at United are generated? Also, I will of course never fly United again.

SD, I heard this joke for the first time almost 40 years ago, when I was a little boy and the General Secretaries of the Communist party of the USSR were dying every couple of years.

Spek, i remember reading NYT during the conflict. Somehow it is ok for Serbs to be ruled by Muslims and Croats who have murdered them over the years but not the other way around? Kosovo given to Albanians and Serbs expelled, fair? I am not justifying Russian invasion but it is hypocritical to hit Serbs and not Bosnians or Croats, condemn Russia but not when US & France bomb Libya to kill Quaddafi in the last decade or US invasion of Iraq in 2003. UK & Poland may have forgotten UPA (Bandera) but Serbs remember who helped them against Turks
-
You are not being fair. When Bosnians and Croats wanted to secede from Yugoslavia, Serbs in Bosnia and Croatia wanted to secede from Bosnia and Croatia. Given the history of Muslim genocide of Christians, and Croatian atrocities in WWII, completely understandable. Why were Bosnians and Croats allowed to secede from Yugoslavia but Serbs are not? Had Bosnians and Croats allowed Serbs to secede - giving Serbs the same self-determination rights that the Croats & Bosnians with Western help wanted to get, there is a very good possibility that the civil war in Yugoslavia would not have happened.

Absolutely. In the video by the way, all the interviews are in Russian, not Ukranian! And yes, I love Kurosawa, Rashomon is fantastic, albeit not in the samurai theme.

You should listen to Dollar General's earnings call. If I am not mistaken, the 40% that you refer to is their core consumer. If I am not mistaken, they are optimistic on the health of their customer. From anecdotal evidence, there are massive wage increases for unskilled labor and craftsmen, and as much overtime as they want. So may be 5% wage increases for white collar programmers at Moody's or Google but 20%+ for store clerks, cashiers, et all. Granted, my anecdotal evidence is from NY metropolitan area + Boston + Maui + Florida.
