Hi thank you for the comments. I finished the book two weeks ago. Along with another that was less interesting. Eager to choose my next readings. Amazon does seem to show the audiobook. I myself never used it. That said in terms of maps, no worries as they are high level maps. See below. North east is of importance as it was the center of the gravity of the Company and how it all started. And then South takes the center stage, when the future Duke of Wellington’ brother consolidate the Company power in the south. It said that he conquered more territory than Napoleon did in Europe around the same time. Yet most people don’t know him.

lol. I toyed with the idea of using Ferdouwsi or Hafiz as handlers. I always like how Hafiz stood up to Timurlane, and lived to tell his tale. But ultimately, of Persian poetry I know nothing of. So went with a Achaemenid monarch with two X in the name.

Hard vote as many goodies to chose from. But I voted for Allied World as it did a bit to grow the gross premiums and diversified the overall franchise. Perhaps a different vote would be which of the ones enumerated here have not delivered any major gain thus far but could be substantial That could be Digit and the airport.

There was a time not long ago (pre Covid), when FFH high risk investment in Eurobank was being compared to Berkshire sound quality holding of Bank of America

About 3 years ago the 50X podcast had a long form deep dive of Transdigm. Now after a long hiatus they are back. I am not familiar with this company. And it may even be private. Posting for those interested https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/50x/id1633461254?i=1000706641363

Come on guys. Take the time to read the actual book. Open a thread about it in the Book section and give your comments about it.

William wrote a body of books on India. and hosts the Empire podcast. I have read only the East India Company. Next on list, the Last Mughal and Return of the King.

incorrect. Come on Sweet you know this stuff. 9/11 led to Afghanistan. Sure. But there needn’t to be an Iraq. There was an Iraq for no other reason than some ideologically driven initiative. Just like Putin was fully invested in late 2021 to invade Ukraine by early 2022, so was the then White House in 2002 leading up to 2003. The Rumsfeld/Cheney machine (both chaps veterans of 1991 Gulf War) just push that through the system, never mind Collin Powell looking like an idiot.

Word on the street is that Larry Culp was trying to lobby Trump during the Middle East travels in order to get his GE engine on the F-35 as second option to P&W’ PW135. Poor Trump misunderstood that as a proposal for a twin-engine F-35, now being dubbed as F-55 being bounced around.

I think this was a good listen recommend. https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-compound-and-friends/id1456467014?i=1000708707427

actually yes there was one. for me anyways. the very first question somehow allowed Buffett and Greg expand and share their thought about their Japanese investment
-
I agree with Becky asking/curating most of the question post Covid was a huge positive. However in this year AGM they gave more air time to on-site people I feel than Becky, perhaps as instructed by Buffett himself knowing that it would be his last one.
-
It is great that he won’t be on stage. we don’t want a Daily Journal like AGM where all question goes to the most senior guy. secondly, it is all about accountability
-
Looks like Chamath mixed up the 3 3 3 plan. one of them was 3 mbd of additional oil production and not 3% inflation
-
I think it was last year AGM where Buffett clarified that Greg would be the end all capital allocator. One man, one ring, one mission

this looks great by the way. if you like that Cromwell era you will like this as well. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt27390563/ -
I think broadly speaking is the commercial side that is impacted. On the military side F-35 specifically has a global footprint and has F-135 P&W engine. It is not clear the details around that one. But then again it is structure and systems from BAE.

Who says it is affecting Raytheon It is affecting RTX, mostly due to its Collin Aerospace and Pratt Whitney subsidiaries … but probably not Raytheon

The reason the relation soured was actually due to brutal murder of Khashoggi in Istanbul by MBS henchmen. From there on, Russia got closer to the Crown Prince, and US got further. Even Trump couldn’t help him at the time. Remember when Putin gave a high five to MBS at a G20 meeting when he was out of favour for everyone. In Riyadh, there was a few years, where the ailing King took back the center stage and MBS went into the background. And then he reemerged when the narrative changed. In parallel to all this, the Kingdom finances were being hammered due to the price war in early 2020. Suffice to say that they had better things to deal with than buying Lockheed hardware. PS: I should add that about $45B were invested with Masayoshi Son into the Vision Fund. Let’s just say that those became largely illiquid asset after that. I am sure they got their principal back + the coupons, but over the life of the fund. No way they could have use that to fund their commitment to US on purchasing military hardware.
