Cubs - did you watch the video of his shooting? He didn't antagonize anyone. He had his hands raised when ICE/CBP agent engaged him. Can't say that about your girl Ashli who lounged at the officer who was in a defensive stand with a gun drawn. Apply your own standards. Be consistent.

oh, no! Fox is working overtime trying to use every scare word in its arsenal to exaggerate this. Big bad communists, Leninists, and Marxists are coming to get you! And then you look at the screenshot of the texts, and it says "observer is shot. Please come asap." Then you get some fringe left lunatics using this shooting to their advantage. To the surprise of no one. Instead of owning this as a bad shooting and promising to investigate and improve, MAGA is trying to double down. Honestly, if there was a way to ship MAGA and far left lunatics to some place where they could figure out their issues, I'd vote for that.

At least with chemicals, you know what you are getting. Food right now is in the middle of all sorts of transitions and hard to figure out what will win. Food to me is now on par with retailers. Too hard pile.

Did you watch the videos of Alex's execution? Yes or no. Very simple.
-
I did the same. I had my starter in OLN and CE a bit early but have slowly been increasing. The other one I'm starting to slowly add to is my DIS starter. 3 years of going nowhere. I don't think it's crazy undervalued but with right puts, it can be market-beating trade. Also, KMX. I have a starter but so little conviction.

My position is that illegals are in fact criminals and lawful, thoughtful, prudent ICE operations are fine. What happened here was a shooting of a US citizen.

Fair. I think it's also fair to close that and focus on things that led to the shooting and the responsibility the agents should bear. Assaulting a civilian who has his hands up with pepper spray? A tad excessive. Unloading a can of pepper spray on him? Also excessive. 10-14 shots while he is on his arms and legs? Definitely excessive. Clapping in celebration of the shooting? Gross. Searching body afterwards and asking "where is the gun?" You can describe it as you want.

LOLOLOL nice try. You are still getting an F. Ashley broke the law before she was engaged and eventually shot. Alex broke 0 laws before he was engaged and eventually shot. But if we go with your logic, either Ashli shooting was bad and so was Alex's. Or Alex's shooting was good and justified and so was Ashli's. You can't have both. Seriously, did you watch the 3 videos? That's the only answer I'd like from you so I can gauge what you are basing your opinions on.

Alex didn't argue with the police. He even raised his hands before they charged him and try to subdue him. He was on all 4s when he was shot. He was also disarmed by this point. There is no physics in this universe that could demonstrate that he was any credible threat to these agents.

Yes, and Biden's pardons were wrong and I wish there was a way to rescind it. Just like Jan 6th pardons were wrong and I wish there was a way to rescind those. Easy.
-
You keep missing the point. She is trespassing and was posing a danger. The LEO that shot her had no way of knowing if she had weapons. She charged at him. She got shot. It's no different than if someone is breaking into my house. I don't care if they are armed or not; they will absolutely get resistance from me. I have 0 issues with the protestors who were outside on Jan 6th. They were exercising their right. Just like Alex was. If protestors in MN were breaking into ICE detention center, I'd have 0 issues with increased force usage. This shooting of Alex was unjustified and gross. It uniquely fits your definition of using violence as a necessary tool for social change and cleansing.
-
She was part of a mob and trespassing. So she is already committing a crime. She also tried charging through the opening, committing another crime. And all of that before the police engaged her. Compare this to Alex Pritti. He did none of this. Everything he did was lawful. And he got executed. Don't forget ICE agents clapping in celebration AND then two of them caught on a hot mic moment asking "where is the gun" twice. Seriously, answer this. Did you watch the videos of this shooting? Specifically, 3 angles. The main one, the one from the woman in the pink coat, and the aftermath. That's really all I want to know because I honestly can't imagine anyone rational thinking that this shooting was OK. Seriously, I don't think I have the right color crayons to keep explaining this.

dude what you talking about? Jan 6th that entered the Capitol were armed. They had firearms and other items that were used as weapons. You can watch your beloved Ashli Babbit shooting and see there is a guy with a crowbar. Alex was doing nothing like Ashli Babbit. And he was murdered. Ashli was trying to break through a barricade as part of a mob where people on the other side of the barricade had no way to retreat. She was trespassing. I love you MAGA logic that somehow Jan 6thers were innocent bystanders who were steamrolled by the police. Reality is that every single one of the Jan 6thers that entered the Capitol are traitors. And should be treated as such.
-
An unarmed protestor who was part of a group that was armed and was the first one to approach the police officer? Honestly, I'd be fine if Capitol police shot every single person who entered the Capitol on Jan 6th. But cooler minds prevailed, and the situation was miraculously de-escalated. This guy (whose identity you don't know, whether he was a Trump supporter or not) was senselessly shot. This was a bad shoot. You can fight your fight and deny it but you'll be on the wrong side of history with this one.
-
I love how you freeze and take what you want. Let me help you correct this: Killing unarmed protester who was part of an armed mob trying to break through a door while also trespassing - NO PROBLEM Killing armed protestor who at no point brandished his weapon and was helping someone get up and then got pepper sprayed and shot 10-14 times in his back - LIBTARD OUTRAGE I'm no libtard. I am an American, and I'm outraged.
-
I'm all for ICE doing their job and removing illegal aliens. I'm for stronger borders. I'm pro 1A and 2A. But these two ICE shootings are incredibly bad. Alex Pritti is especially gross if you bothered to watch the videos. He was helping someone get up (and prior to that video taping), he got pepper-sprayed, at no point did he brandish his gun (it was safely secured in his holster), he got disarmed, he was on his 4s, so in no way was he able to pose a threat, and he gets 10-14 shots unloaded into him. Couple that with some asshole ICE agent clapping in celebration after the shots and another 2 ICE agents frantically search his body and ask "where is the gun" twice...come on @cubsfan @73 Reds @flesh - this is a bad shooting. This was wrong and gross. It doesn't help that Alex is a sympathetic victim. He was a VA ICU nurse helping vets. Not some psycho purple-haired unemployed Karen. Stop it with your Ashli Babbit comparing. She was part of a mob trying to get through that door. Ashli and all the rioters who entered the Capitol on Jan 6th are traitors. If we had Trump ICE dealing with that actual riot, we'd have 100s of dead rioters. These two situations are nowhere near the same.

I shorted UNG calls and recycled that into Fairfax.

My cost basis is around $40 as I had some poor timing buying this in the 50s and 60s. So I'm just above water. Having said that I think what you are seeing here is still "problem-EPS." 2025 was low and you are seeing some serious repricing of about 20% across the book. These increases are coming through on a $160B revenue base while SG&A has already been cut. So if you think about them repairing their margin (through cost increases and walking away from low margin contracts like the FL one) I expect them to be closer to $5/year in earnings. This all assumes that none of the other things will work out, i.e., the stock today embeds a set of stressed assumptions around Medicaid policy, marketplace risk adjustment, IRA issues, etc. I don't think these will persist at the same intensity as they have been for the last 6 months especially as we enter re-election cycle. Long way of saying - the stock is currently somewhat undervalued with a multitude of catalysts to make it go higher.
-
I won't question your decision to walk away here, but I agree CNC is underearning. In Florida, they walked away from high-acuity (intensive medical care) children's contract that has low margins. They are still Florida's broader medicaid managed-care.

One of my favorite strategies when I have strong conviction is to sell a spectrum of short-dated OTM and ITM puts and buy longer-term calls.
-
Unlimited downside down to 0. With ITM you are getting participation in the upside. Everything has a trade off.
-
This is only true for OTM puts. My take for value investors OTM isn't really as profitable as ITM trades are but to each his/her own.
-
If you manage your risk. If you wanted to buy 200 shares of NVO and you sold 2 puts, that's fine. Margin allows you to sell a lot more than just 2 puts in that's what gets people in trouble. Especially if there is a gap down.
