  1. He won't go through with it, if he does then Canada can cut the US off in terms of copper supply and hurt the auto industry. Same for the EU, they already have a plan in place in case Trump starts with tariffs. The EU will excessively tax industries that are predominantly located in swing states.
  2. You guys sure romanticize the early period. I enjoyed the first two weeks because it was new and honestly my wife could use the help. After that, babies weren't really my thing because it was a constant struggle to figure out what they needed. I prefer the 1-3y old period, they start walking so you can do more stuff with them + when they start pointing/talking it is so much easier to take care of them. During this period I took quite a bit time off to spend more time with them, especially with the oldest (youngest is more of a momma's girl). Now after 3 I just make sure to be home on time during the week and occasionally take them to do stuff. With regards to your question: take the 15 months but don't spend it 100% with the kid, make sure you still have time for yourself & friends so you don't end up frustrated.
  3. Not working from home here, I really need to be around people. That said, I work 30h weeks, my wife works 24h weeks. Our jobs support our lifestyle, the investment returns are the savings. We are fortunate enough that the portfolio returns provide more savings than we realistically would have by working more anyway... I had an OK year in '24 and still earned more on the investment side than our salaries combined.
  4. Thanks for that, will be good for orange pilling some friends/colleagues.
  5. Also bought some (leaps).
  6. You get what you vote for... I'm sure the movie stars will start some fundraisers soon.
  7. Not as easy by traditional means... But other opportunities pop up left and right and the big advantage young people have is that most of the traditionally rich people tend to stay away from those opportunities.
  8. Anyone looking into housing builders for the L.A. region?
  9. April fools coming a bit early this year? How about some MSTR Luke
  10. True words, I started out in 2013 with 10k and keep my track record to remind myself of my mistakes back then. But in terms of absolute money, only '23 and '24 are really relevent because I added a lot from real estate early '23. My gains this year are larger than my portfolio was pre '23
  11. Ah yes, I have been wearing nail polish for days because my 3y old got it for christmas but she didn't get polish remover...
  12. Didn't peg you for a bracelet wearing kinda guy.
  13. If people like you would stop entering the crypto/mstr thread to be obnoxious, maybe he would.
  14. Well as you said last year Greg, evaluating based on a 1y timeframe says very little. All things considered, low teens looks like a nice return considering your JOE position. I am assuming you did not trade in/out of MSGS/E when they peaked? I'm ending on a bit of a downer here, dipped right below the S&P on the very last trading day. 2013 8% 2014 25% 2015 -20% 2016 40% 2017 -26% 2018 -17% 2019 20% 2020 -5% 2021 47% 2022 -4% 2023 76% 2024 23% The switch from Metaplanet to MSTR calls really killed my returns, otherwise I would have been up roughly 40%. But oh well, the portfolio feels primed now for a banger 2025!
  15. Some knibbles at PDD and MSTR calls.
  16. I also like PDD, just not sure 2025 will be their year.
  17. All the respect for how you manage this, wish I could as well but swing trading is a skill I have not mastered yet... I think when you're a full time investor this gets easier but I'm not there yet.
  18. Got burned on bioscience options early in the year, recovered with BTC, APO, KKR, EBAY and FFH. In augustus everything crashed and then MSTR/Metaplanet shot up my portfolio in November together with LULU and ULTA options. However MSTR was also the reason it went down heavily in December. Going to reduce the volatility in my portfolio for 2025.
  19. Yeah we'll see what tomorrow evening brings but it's been a roller coaster year for me. Was down 20% in January, up 10% in June, down 25% on the 5th of August, up +/- 60% by mid November. Now I'm up roughly 25%... barely above the S&P (24%). Then again we shouldn't focus too much on the yearly performance as it means nothing.
  20. Just to be original, I added a bit of JOE yesterday.
  21. 3M: 1.5m to build my mansion and 1.5m to keep investing and live off.
  22. Yeah I know, couldn't help myself... I'm so bad at sitting on cash, especially when I see irrational drops (-12%) on that silly FED announcement.
  23. More MSTR calls.
  24. Of course this is up 70% in two weeks...
