Nice! I had the opportunity to do the same...but didn't act that day CSU fell just below $2200. Saw it...didn't act fast enough. Cheers!

This Iran War/Attack is doing one hell of a job distracting from all of the shit not fixed or looked at domestically! Tariffs Tariff repayment Economy Jobs Inflation due to oil prices ICE Trump-Epstein Files Funding for higher institutions being cut Healthcare Education And of course the biggie...mid-terms that are not looking good for the GOP! I'm sure there are others, but my fellow TDS survivors can probably point them out in subsequent posts. At least: Peace Prizes have been handed out The Washington Monument is now the Trump-Washington Monument People are getting the hell blown out of them in Iran Allies are taking hits in glass Dubai/Saudi houses Bad Bunny is no bono Somalis aren't eating dogs and cats (was it both or do they have a preference) ICE has things under control in Minnesota (or do they) Venezuela's leadership transition is complete Insurrectionists are all running free and happy like scurrying MAGA-loving rats Noem is back to killing puppies on her farm Kash Patel's severe astigmatism was miraculously healed during the prayer meeting in the Oval Office Mission accomplished! Cheers!

Date yourself without dating yourself - How many?

The only problem is that this is automatic now. If I take my brother and his family for lunch or dinner, at some point the kids are automatically on the iPhone or iPad at the restaurant (casual restaurants). They come and stay for the weekend...they bring their iPads with them. So I really have to watch them and control their time on there. But I never give my iPhone! They know the rule with me...you talk to me and don't get to use my iPhone, unless we are looking for a little present for them (Birthday/Christmas). Otherwise, you can ask for your Mom, Dad and Grandma's iPhone, but you never get to use Uncle's! And the great part...they are good kids and know the rule! On top of that, they actually get to really know their Uncle as well by talking to me and joking with me! Cheers! -

Explains why I've never seen one. It's funny the things we made do with back in the days...you have no other choice, so it looks very simple for back then, but seems ridiculously unnecessary today! I see my little niece and nephew talking to Siri to get information or look up a program, and I'm like flabbergasted with how easily they can do it. I think my nephew at 11 now already has surpassed me in most technology, setup, use, etc. And I'm only 56!!! That being said, I don't think they've ever heard the word "flabbergasted!" Cheers! -

Never seen that! We didn't have any sort of cable box like this...ever. Was it a smaller local provider...not the Big Three back then? Cheers! -
Sssshhhhhuuuuusssssshhhhhhh! They forgot all about Greenland and Canada right now. Just shut up! I'm really enjoying my Timbits and coffee right now this morning...don't let them fuck it up for me! Cheers!

Yup, I think that's a great strategy and obviously has worked! I follow something similar as well. Any one of those three businesses, including a combination of all three, creates a diversified, leveraged (while risk-managed), portfolio. And they still manage to not be entirely correlated. Lastly, you can trust the management of all three of them and you pay zero fees! Cheers!

Thanks for the nice comments John! I'm fortunate that I don't need the money, and that's because I was lucky enough to hear about Buffett and Prem a long time ago. So this message board is just a huge thank you from me to them...and I very much enjoy the friendships and banter on here with so many great, like-minded people from around the world! As I'm getting older, I know that this will be one of the few outlets I will have long-term to stimulate my brain and entertain myself with people who share a similar interest. I don't play Bridge...I don't shop...I don't have a wife and kids...I enjoy work...I enjoy sports...I enjoy this message board. So it is actually a bit self-serving...but in a good way! Cheers! -
Yup...they are going to be the net beneficiaries of a calmer, better Middle East. So they should suck it up, take the hits and their lives will be better longer term. Getting Iran out of the way (I still hate the way Trump just bypasses Congress), but that is good for all countries in that region that rely on business and trade to help their people. If they relied on state terrorism to fund their lifestyle, well...that period is now officially over. Although...terrorism is rising within Pakistan and they are already nuclear capable! So, when one problem is solved, another snake may raise its head later on! Cheers!

You look at 2026 forward earnings on equity at a conservative rate...you are earning $65-75B a year without any real investment gains. $1.1T market cap minus cash on hand of about $300B...you are paying 10-11 times earnings for some of the best quality, mostly AI-proof, earnings in the world! As big as it is, I'll take that all day and night! If it gets cheaper...just keep buying more. You have the best, strongest company in the world sitting in your portfolio. May not grow at 15% annualized any more, but I'm happy if it matches or beats the S&P500 long-term! Cheers!

Very few would pay anything close to that. Good investors generally are very frugal investors! Our membership would drop from 5,000 to 500! The resultant income would be the same...but we would lose a lot of content. Again, that being said...losing the Politics content might be worth it! Cheers! -

If you are in, you are in...no charge! Although I would like to give up the Politics thread for $10K! Cheers! -
I agree that I don't think government should tell us what to eat or drink, but they do regardless. You can't smoke in private/public spaces, you can't drink and drive, you can't do surgery while on weed, you get care when you eat toxins, etc. It's not quite the slippery slope that people make it out to be, because the costs are borne by taxpayers through healthcare costs...especially for countries that support Universal healthcare like Canada, UK, etc. I'm pretty sure I'll be equally satisfied with a Grande White Chocolate Mocha, rather than a Venti or whatever is even bigger than a Venti! This all started with 7/11's Big Gulp back in the late 70's. I remember buying one of these things at least once a week when I was 14-15 years old in the 80's, along with a Chili Dog...and I wouldn't eat the healthy lunch my Mom packed. Ah, memories! But that was probably the start of my unhealthy diet for the rest of my life! Cheers!

No taxable event with buybacks. Firepower to support the stock in a crisis or if something happens to Buffett/lack of confidence in Abel. Eventually, there will just be too much cash coming out of Berkshire. They will have to pay a dividend when the stock no longer needs that type of support because confidence keeps the price in line with fair value. People have always talked about the "Buffett discount", not "premium". Well, now that "discount" will probably disappear over the next 5-10 years. Cheers!

You may be right...but at the same time, BRK is no longer Buffett's BRK that we knew. Corporate governance will always be better than the average company, but it will almost be impossible to fully preserve Buffett's culture...or Prem's for that matter Fairfax when he retires. Founders just have a different view of their artwork than others...if you didn't build it, it's very hard to find someone who will treat it exactly the same...just like your kids! Cheers!

Not coming around to MAGA...but do agree with some things, like this: https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/rfk-jr-says-wants-dunkin-175507006.html Don't like brain worm guy, but there are a lot of things about diet (all across North America) that needs to be fixed to some degree...especially in the restaurant/fast food sector. When I was 13, today's appetizer plate was the dinner plate and the largest burger you could get was a Big Mac (550 calories) unless you went to a diner that put 2-3 patties on a bun. Milkshakes were the most unhealthy thing you could drink and less than 500 calories as well. Today, the average mixed drink at Dunkin's or Starbucks is a large drink, with tons of sugar and fat, and probably comes in at 750 calories plus. The average mixed coffee drink! It's got more to do with portion size than anything else, but we are killing out kids! I find when I order off of Denny's 55+ menu, I can barely finish that plate of food now...I can only imagine ordering the Grand Slam off the regular menu which is like twice the size and calories. Cheers!

I have a few cards (personal, personal holding company, companies I run, etc). For the personal stuff...I have both Visa and MC because they have two different reward/insurance programs. For the companies...they are all Visas to keep it simple at the same bank. I used to have a personal Amex for a few years, but the lack of places I could use it, relative to the Platinum fee charged...just couldn't justify it as frugal consumer. I kept looking at the annual fee and said this is just stupid...switched to the Canadian Black Amex (not the invite one, the other one)...lower fee, some similar insurance/rewards...for a much lower fee. Again, with the lack of places to use it other than restaurants, couldn't justify that either and got rid of it. At the end of the day, there was zero reason for me to have an Amex! Cheers! -
Cubs knew it...he knew you were antifa! But small "a" antifa...not big "A"! Does anyone else get turned on by Bondi when she's angry in court? Cheers!

Hmmm...thanks! Cheers!

Abel is in a unique position now...the only person ever to run Berkshire outside of Buffett! The expectations and responsibilities cannot be higher. So in this type of position, you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. We had people on here saying...I hope he buys stock with his massive salary. Well, now he said he will buy/invest in BRK stock with his after-tax salary as long as he works for Berkshire...all of it...that could be a couple of decades or longer. So, now we complain about transparency, something weird, they didn't give us time, Buffett wouldn't do that...this is what happens in these cases. If you've been a shareholder for a couple of decades, you should have known when to buy. I loaded up a large slug two days ago and said on here I thought it was getting cheaper! We are talking about a public company...they aren't going to come out and signal to us ahead of time...ok, go have your fill. It's up to the investor to ultimately make that calculation and decision. Cheers!

Yes, I forgot about Google Search! Bing just sucks...and the AI searches sometimes provide too much detail or compilation. At least for now, I would have to turn away $10K for some Google products. I also prefer Google Meet, Chrome and Maps. Cheers! -

By the way...you probably know better than me...but Cobs has their awesome hot-cross buns out right now for Easter. Four different flavours...my favorite is the Apple Cinnamon one. Brought some fresh on Saturday morning to have with my coffee! Cheers!
