  1. Can't believe he's still playing much less at this level. Apparently he's putting up better stats since hitting 40 than his last MVP season. Crazy. Talk about investing in your body.
  2. Just wondering out loud. I might have enough to retire but kids still in HS, live in US where you pay out of pocket for your healthcare. Plus market sure feels frothy. Also it'd be tough giving up job with smart people on cutting edge, nice benefits and facilities and pretty compensation. Though some days...
  3. This is a few years old but worth reading for a look at options vs not https://www.cboe.com/insights/posts/benchmark-indices-series-income-generation-and-smoother-returns-with-cboes-bxm-bxmd-put-and-cmbo-indices/ basically the cboe has several auto options writing indices and they were analyzed vs the SP500. The SP beats them all in total return, but there are 3 that beat it for risk adjusted returns, and one that gets pretty close on total returns as well. (the 30 delta call write). In theory that means you could leverage them and get better returns than the sp500 but that's not examined by the study.
  4. Yeah that's a really long term problem, plus folks in the research community are already keenly aware of it. The bigger problems will be the ones they're not aware of.
  5. The AI you are working with today is the dumbest AI you will ever encounter.
  6. How and why did this thread devolve into a crypto thread??? please stop! back to eff you money. Reminds me of this scene from office space Mostly the second part lol. "you don't need a million bucks to do nothing.."
  7. I don't know if this falls under "Biggest", but I'll add: ever participating in any political discussion on a public board LOL. See the "Eff you money" topic for context.
  8. I'd add that I don't see how the Dems are any less corrupt than the Reps especially with everyone climbing over themselves to appeal to Trump's ego. Or at the least doing everything they can to make sure he doesn't lash out at them with his bully mentality.
  9. Trump has crossed so many norms of politics it's unsurprising that the Dems are fighting back. The attempted insurrection was really something, reminds me of Hugo Chavez, but I guess he didn't lead it, just cheered it on? Election interference was the biggest issue and concern along with claims of presidential immunity. Will he vacate in 4 years? All the sexual abuse and others... well he is who he is and will never change. Other than his family, it seems everyone he's ever worked closely with despises the guy, and has nothing good to say about him. Kelly wrote a book about it. But yes he does appeal to an element of the population that others don't. He knows how to market and create fear that's for sure especially to those who will and want to believe his lies. Wrt to Fox, yeah, I'm guessing they are just as biased as what everyone's calling MSM, but I guess we're in the post-verifiable truth era, especially with Gen AI... The Dem party is incompetent, I'll give you that. I'm not sure I'd call them any more corrupt than the Republican. Their last 3 candidates were Hillary, Biden, and Harris after a botched Biden attempt? No wonder the Red party has all 3 branches now.
  10. Always remember, "It's not timing the market, it's time in the market"... And most of your returns come from your asset allocation, not stock selection.
  11. I agree that adding 6 new justices would've been harsh but that didn't happen. What did happen is that Mitch prevented Obama from rightfully appointing a justice on the pretense that the next president should have that right. Then he rushed the 3rd appointment right when Trump's term was about to be up, hypocritically. So he basically pulled 2 judges to the right. Nevermind that at least 2 of the appointees, to the highest court in the land, perjured themselves when they claimed under oath that they wouldn't change Roe vs Wade. I'm fully aware that the left has their issues, but somewhat amused that people see Trump, who lies and sensationalizes as a matter of operating procedure as some great counterbalance to that. With regards to the courts cases against him, did you look at the court documents and the actual facts and proof? Like the boxes and boxes of confidential data in his resort taken without permission? People think it was a witch hunt but, if it was, it wasn't without proof and evidence, something his supporters don't seem to need, but is required in a court of law. He's the first president who didn't concede and constantly called the election rigged. That's dictator stuff. He also led chants of "lock her up!", so yes, it's a concern that he'd jail political opponents. Of all the political cycles I've seen he's taken the conversation to the lowest point, but hey at least he didn't start a war.
  12. make me think of this nsfw scene from back in the day
  13. What's the source? the fact that California is not on there is suspect. Although then it might be > 50%
  14. cross posting. Good brief accessible intro and visualization of how LLMs work.
  15. This has a nice groove.
  16. Anyone want to try programming one? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/quantum/qsharp-overview
  17. Any ideas for managing/beating inflation?
  18. Good visual intro explanation of how LLMs work. That channel has a lot of good more indepth explanations as well.
  19. Yup. No body wants to pay the piper. It's been a crazy couple of decades though with the financial crisis and pandemic. Both of those had a significant impact on spending and debt iirc. Not sure how the US gets out of this mess other than to inflate.
  20. Awesome! Hope you have a great time. Have you been before? West coast or east coast?
  21. Can anyone see the results of this poll? I only see the following [[Template core/global/global/poll is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the default theme.]]
  22. Club med!!! Highly recommend it for families with active children who want a week off No dishes, no cooking and cleaning, lots of entertainment and fun active stuff to do. Or just laze at the beach
  23. hmm. Well it's good that you have confidence, but why don't you think you have the chops now to go for a Sr Staff Eng job? Do you think that 6 months of training alone will get you to that level? Staff Eng is pretty high up there, Sr Staff is very high. You need actual experience on real projects with many people usually to get that level of a a job, which it sounds like you have? The Sr Staff folks I know have been working with large teams delivering projects for years. I'm just wondering. Hopefully I'm not coming off as negative. I mean it's rare for someone to just get hired at a 3x salary to their previous position...
  24. Just start slow and stretch. I overdid the eccentric downhill stepdown type movements and paid for it for months.
