U.S. housing market about to get SLAMMED
fareastwarriors replied to opihiman2's topic in General Discussion
Yes, the SALT deduction changes definitely impacts RE values in high tax states - NY, NJ, CT and MA. NY probably the worst. LOL. That's likely a reason a friend lost a bid on a house against 5 cash offers two weeks ago. Not. My cousin is not backing away from 900k house in SF Bay Area suburbs. It will be her primary residence. She is not worry about a downturn and said she will buy more as investments if she see "deals." -

Yes, the SALT deduction changes definitely impacts RE values in high tax states - NY, NJ, CT and MA. NY probably the worst. Speaking for CA, we needed a price correction in 15-30% for a while now. It has gotten crazy last 3-5 years. So maybe a 1.5m home will only be ~1+m in the fall/winter or next year. Wow, such a discount. -

Thought this thread is about the stock market...

No, not right now. The pending stimulus bill has it. Obviously it's not law yet...

Interesting thing is how unemployment insurance for Gig workers would work. That group of workers would add substantially to the numbers.

Publicly traded Health insurers have been consolidating. They are can probably withstand the hit and can put downward pressure on health providers when needed.

@James22 I have high yield savings accounts that yield nowhere close to 2.3% What's a Stable Value Fund? And how does the risk profile compare with an ETF like TLT? Thanks https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/stable-value-fund.asp

Plenty of photos here collected by abyli. Empty supply bins for masks, gloves and eye goggles. https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/r0MgCEtpYRocZECSPcpDXA I also have photos of dead bodies on the ground in the hospital for hours with no one taking care of. They are covered by white cloth so I can tell they are already dead. While at the same time, I have a photo of the Provincial Governor on TV saying that they have plenty of supply and there is nothing to worry about! I hope your relatives will be okay. I'm a fob myself and have plenty of relatives there but in Guangdong. People outside of China don't know, but you can't really trust anything there. Stay safe people!

Does Anyone use Margin in Their Personal Portfolio
fareastwarriors replied to Myth465's topic in General Discussion
I used margin as downpayment for my last investment property. Margin is a powerful tool but can be dangerous if used improperly. -
Finding/ Interviewing Listing Agents
fareastwarriors replied to LounginMKL's topic in General Discussion
Any decent house in the Bay sells itself. My brother just closed on a house. The listing wasn't even active yet. He saw it on Zillow as coming soon, contacted the listing agent directly, and made the deal before the house hit the market... They are sure they don't want to keep it as a rental instead? Depending how much they owe, the cash flow can be substantial even after hiring a property manager. -
If only they were. I cannot sell or buy ASFI anymore even though I just hold 100 shares worth $1000 .. Admittedly I had a larger position in the past but even then I wasn’t close to owning 1% which would be 65k shares - a position worth a few hundred k and three weeks of trading volume .. A bunch of CoBF people have previously tried to persuade me that IB is the best thing since the sliced bread. Now I'm gonna gloat and say "I told you so". 8) No, I'm gonna say: "Sorry you guys are having these issues". :'( The margin rates are too good to move away from. I only know how to buy and sell equities. I haven't even explored 99.9% of the tools being offered.
