Why can't you use both Schwab bank and some other internet bank? Use Schwab for checking and regular expenses and internet bank with higher interest rate for savings/emergency fund.

Hmm, slight dip today but what to buy?

Picked up some MSG too this AM at~$271. I am not sure what caused the sudden downdraft , but noticed that MSGN is doing even worse, is this team related? I added MSGN in two slugs this am at 19.5 and 19.2, adding to my existing position. Knicks whiff on free agents is why they’re down. Dolan looks like an even bigger idiots after his February boasting. Fans are pissed. Hopefully this puts Jim over the edge and he sells the Knicks. Why MSG over MSGN or vice versa?

It doesn't feel like exuberance of the late 1990s or mid 2000s. It seems like to me people are cautious high valuations, crazy IPOs, trade, and governments.

I have trouble sometimes separating myself from disliking someone because they're good and dislike someone for a valid reason. I've always disliked Curry because of how he carries himself on the court and the way he struts. But.....maybe that's just how he stays loose, in kind of a relaxed focus way. He's in the moment during the play but when the whistle stops the play he loosens up and relaxes. Klay is all business all the time, whistle or no whistle he's ready. One thing this series taught me is how much I do like and respect Curry and Klay and I must have only disliked them because they're good. Draymond is still a dick though. That won't ever change. Haha. He's our d*. 8)

I was surprised by Cardboards comment. From my years of following him, he seems like a nice guy, good teammate, and a family guy. Maybe he can be a bit cocky at times but I feel all stars have a bit of that. Anyways let’s celebrate Raptors!. Cheers!

Good game Warriors. Great win by the Raptors. Happy for them.

#WeTheNorth Glad the Raptors finally broke through to the Finals. But I'm a Dubs fan. Go Warriors!

If you want to see anything behind a paywall...

Doesn't need to be local. I'm not from the us and simply found a US library that allows (free) signup which allows online signup. Did this years ago to read Morningstar. Yes, that's true! Plenty of options available. And besides, most of us can afford a subscription or 2 to our favorite publications... -

I would push back on this from two sides: 1. You could argue about "better service" as defined by ease of calling Lyft/Uber vs. calling taxi. This is mostly US phenomenon though. In a lot of countries there are taxi apps/etc. that offer the same convenience. Also, I'm not really pro-taxi person, but security/quality of cars/drivers is arguably better in taxis. Of course, I've got recency bias of using Uber/Lyft mostly, but I've had pretty scary and pretty lousy drivers. And I gave them all 5 stars since OTOH you don't want to kill poor person trying to make a living with bad reviews. If taxi service had Japanese/Finnish car quality/driver professionalism and charged the same as Uber/Lyft, I'd take taxi all the time period. 2. Regarding raising prices 30-35% and not losing riders: currently Uber/Lyft is somewhat competitive with driving to destination, parking in paid parking and driving back, so I may take Uber/Lyft instead of driving and parking. With 30-35% raise, this use case economics are killed completely. You should rate honestly and provide feedback. I think if you leave one star (or maybe 2 or lower), you won't ever be matched with that driver again. Yes, I know the chances is tiny to be rematched with same driver but it does happen if you use the service a lot. Some drivers won't care about the ratings but if I see a driver with like 4.7 and below ratings, I might cancel and try to get another driver since I know the the driver has had some issues (could be driving skills or older/smelly car). From my experiences in SF area and NYC, the Ubers/Lyfts are usually newer and cleaner than taxis... Don't get me started on NYC taxi drivers, they are constantly on the phone and driving like maniacs. I've given about 100 rides on Uber and Lyft as a driver and used their services as a customer a few hundred times.

Darn! That's really too bad. Bloomberg was one of my last few sources for good business news after WSJ toughened up their wall.

I saw (and posted on Kraft thread) but I was also thought about potential future Kraft m/a action. It might be easier to work a deal with him off the board.

I always said it with a rhyme: "happy wife equals happy life!" It's a big investment and a huge time sink, we'd have to get a rental house for 1.5 years, that's why I'm not too keen on it -- though i think she'll get her way in the end :) 1.5 years? You could basically build a new house in less time than that.

Sequoia Fund Investor Day Transcript
fareastwarriors replied to redskin's topic in General Discussion
Interesting question.. I would like to know if someone's done the math here as well.. The total out-performance vs S&P since 1970 is 2.65% so if you backed out the 21% annual from BRK, did the rest of the portfolio really add value? +1 If you were one of the Buffett partners that rolled into Sequoia in 1970, what did you learn? 2% outperformance over 50 years is good but if Sequoia was carried by Berkshire for all those years? But I give them credit to have the fortitude to hold a major position in Berkshire for such a long period. Other managers could've done the same but they didn't. -
