  2. Well that's true! The choices were a status quo replacement for a candidate suffering indications of senility or the United States greatest buffoon and narcissist. To suggest the latter, especially after everything we've witnessed, was the better outcome is hardly facing reality head on. Not that the alternative would have been better, but for anyone to suggest that Trump was a wining pick is a real, real stretch! Cheers!
  3. My guess is that both Iran and Saudi Arabia will become nuclear armed states within the next 5-10 years. Everyone by now learned the lesson that without nuclear weapons you just get trampled upon. We are going to see a whole lot more states with nukes in the future. Europe also will seek its own nukes if the AfD Party or Le Pen wins a mandate.
  4. FMCB continues with strong result. It’s still undervalued at ~10x earnings. https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/FMCB/news/Farmers--Merchants-Bancorp-FMCB-Reports-Record-Quarterly-Results?id=528847

  6. Has it ever been on the proxy? I think they own class C shares.
  7. Am I blind or is BDT not on the proxy for UA? Did BDT sell down its stake?
  8. thanks a lot for sharing these. i'm curious where were you able to source these financials? i downloaded the historicals early last year but think the site must've been removed or something.
  9. Adds to DIS, ASR, Buzzi, HONA and lastly Uber at the close
  10. Looks like you've got it all figured out. Except the part that a system of values is far greater than any one human being. Not sure where MSFT enters the discussion but tangents often appear when the discussion gets stale.
  11. Water, food and shelter are just life sustaining commodities. There's no shortage of Lexuses parked outside shit-boxes.
  12. Just one - to me material - comment here : I think we've come to a place, point, where it's possible here on CofB&F discuss Politics in a civil way, and on a relatively objective basis, which during some ealier years simply hasen't been possible here CofB&F. That is actually something. - - - o 0 o - - - I still remembe the just pre POTUS 45th period here on CofB&F, where the board was actually flooded with political trolls and what do I know. Very unpleasant. I remember - self imposed - to guide a couple of those culprits to door here, calling them out. You know what you're dealing with, if zero posts in the Investment Ideas forum.
  13. Have to think that crude prices open higher on Monday. The Aramco Jazan Refinery Complex was hit by ballistic missiles last night; burning brightly, and located just off the southern end of the Bab-el-Mandeb strait. https://www.aramco.com/en/news-media/elements-magazine/2022/jazan-complex https://www.reddit.com/r/oil/comments/1v5vyhe/the_aramco_refinery_in_jazan_saudi_arabia_is/?share_id=VGSjl97BiH3r8tTJCSyF1&utm_content=share_button&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1 Supposedly, the US asked for a ceasefire this morning (unconfirmed), and discussions around a US/UK led global coalition to protect the SOH are to begin next week. https://www.freepressjournal.in/world/us-uk-plan-global-coalition-to-protect-commercial-shipping-in-strait-of-hormuz-amid-escalating-tensions-with-iran US marines suddenly being offered early separations to meet budget constraints. https://news.usni.org/2026/07/23/marines-offered-early-separations-to-meet-budget-constraints By now, most would expect that US SPR reserves are near bottom ... lots of 'revisions' last week as to what 'bottom' is, and lots of pressure on the majors to 'return favours', and keep gasoline prices as low as possible. It would also seem that the US is looking to exit, and bring the carrier fleets home. SD
  14. Reds you are a blisteringly clear version of the 1/3rd rule: One third of the country would kill another one third while the remaining 1/3rd watches. Watch and stay aloof dude... ...hell, Mr. Market is going up and its likely your Microsoft may start going back up too!
  15. Hmmm.... a bunch of words that say...... nothing at all. But yeah, many of you believed - and still do - that Trump will end the World as we know it. The only plausible explanation for your obsession.
  16. LOL, no Reds we did not believe Trump would end the world as we know it. We believed Trump would do exactly, that's precisely, what he has actually done. Nothing more, nothing less. To act as if that's OK? That's nothing but pure low level perfectly obvious intellectual dishonesty.
  17. The only difference between Trump and any other elected official on the "lying "front is Trump talks a lot more than any of them.
  18. a little Fairfax and BMI
  19. Trump biggest discovery is that he can just make shyte up and it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. In most cases he will not get called out on it and even if he does, it doesn’t matter because he just makes more shyte up. He basically discovered Brandolini law and how to use it in politics. It not totally new but he applies it at a scale that no one has ever seen before. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandolini's_law Example:
  20. The answer to your question is yes, but most of my assets and investments are in the US. My point here is that on many fronts, longstanding US efforts at diplomacy have failed the US. I voted for the "Bull in a China Shop" approach to issues like Iran, NATO, trade, the UN, and even domestic issues like DEI and wokeness. I also completely understand your feelings on Greenland.
  21. Well, while you are obsessing, consider what we were left with on Election day. That was exactly one Presidential term following Trump 1, when many of you forcefully believed he would end the World as we know it. What seem to be lacking here IMO is perspective.
  22. The left wing will not hurt the midterms much because that’s about stonewalling Trump’s agenda. I think the Democrats have a good shot at winning those even in the current disjointed condition. The issue comes with the next election. Both Parties will have problems. Trump will be gone but at that point will be radioactive enough that it reflects on everyone he has worked with especially Vance . You will see Vance disconnecting himself from Trump for that reason before the elections. The Dems have no leading persona who can win elections. The populist left leaning ones like AOC play a good game for themselves but likely can’t win an election because they can’t win over enough of the middle class. So we are likely left with 2 crummy candidates and my hunch is that the Republicans will have the edge here. All this is just a guess.
  23. @73 Reds, You asked, and I was not really asked, but I felt entitled to contribute - at least partly - to an answer here [likely bad form]. I have here in this topic spent a lot of time documenting for you and others the real facts about POTUS' 'Greenland thingy' and how it's percieved here in Denmark - an ally to USA, that has followed USA into the war against terror, with our own war casualties. And yet, all the US lies, propaganda and distorsions about the actual Greenland situation continues. There is relatively calme about the 'Greenland thingy' by now, - that's because POTUS is occupied what he's entagled in with Iran, taking his attention, - by now. - - - o 0 o - - - That may suffice here. - - - o 0 o - - - @73 Reds, Btw.: Out of pure curiosity : Have you any part of total capital invested outside USA? From reading your posts I think that hav understood UK has special place in your heart?
  24. No, there are absolutely no better alternatives currently available Reds. And along those lines my biggest fear of all, by far the one that dominates my thinking, is that our obsession with Donnie greatly enhances the probability that a somewhat equal, and we know there are no equals to Trump's simplistic sell, man or from the left will work our country for his god-awful agenda. The words applicable are "to the degree we go...is the degree we go..."
  25. John, does daily ranting and whining help? If so, this forum provides a captive audience. If you want to discuss specifics, what "approach" are you referring to? Each issue and policy presents its own approach. I'm happy to discuss them, but when folks cannot, or refuse to differentiate between a person and a policy, what is there to discuss?
  26. @73 Reds, I'm not asked here, but I take the freedom to contribute to an answer here anyway. Nurse and evolve relations and intercourse with friends and allies based on respect and mutual understanding in stead of this now longstanding, almost never ending, sh*t show constantly going on by now, with harassments, insults, name calling, theats and what do I know, all the time. It's not a matter of 'the person'. It's matter of incumbent POTUS not knowing the difference between one of his socalled 'wins' - and successes. Long term, POTUS' actual approach is just such a no-go.
