Just wondering if anyone here is on BlueSky?  Seems to be gaining traction as an alternative to Twitter, which a) is full of idiots, b) is hard to search for company tickers, as they've all been hijacked by Altcoins and c) has Bill Ackman trying to impress Musk by making teenage boy jokes (he actually made a 69 gag - unbelievably cringe...).

I found a couple of friendly faces, but would be great to know if any more.

Cheers.

It's been used to virtue signal more than anything. Inevitably people that leave twitter (content creators mostly) and make a big show of it start showing up back on twitter once they realize their metrics have declined. The 2-3 times I've taken a look at it the algorithm is as to the left with propoganda as twitter is to to the right with propoganda.

X has gone downhill quite a bit since the Musk takeover. Search doesn’t work any more, the messages are full with spam for sex and crypto offerings the $ ticker symbols are all squatted by crypto coin spams. It’s only useful if you narrow down the scope to FinTwit by blocking Elon Musk and other noisy accounts that post bullshit as well as key words like Tesla, TSLA, TSLAQ.

I dumped Twitter way before Leon took over and the only thing I miss is Dr. Parik Patel, BA, CFA, ACCA, ESQ.

I check Reddit a few times a week and CoBF daily. The rest of social media is a cesspool designed to keep you on edge.

First thing I saw when I first opened X last was a video of an Arab man being stoned to death. Didn't look it up, didn't want it, it was just right there waiting for me on my home feed.

Safe to say that I deleted my account, and I also think Elon has gone crazy.

Twitter used to be pretty useful. I had curated / followed a lot of really good fintwit accounts. A lot of them changed their accounts to approval only for follows, but I was already in. Slowly but surely the political nonsense started getting louder and more unavoidable (even after muting words and blocking a ton of douchenozzles). I squeezed the last bit of juice out and it tasted like shit so I quit. Then Leon took over. It's a shame Parsad didn't buy the platform.

I miss Twitter before they started implementing an algorithm - you could just get a raw data feed of the accounts you follow with no manipulation.

Is that different than the "Following" feed, as opposed to the "For You" feed?  I only use the "Following" feed and do not get anything like what other posters have mentioned receiving.  I agree, though, that it's difficult to search due to all of the crypto and technical trading spam.

I'm on there.  Haven't really switched over yet but I think it's coming. Too much stuff in the twitter feed that you don't want randomly popping up on your phone; followed you spec.  Threads was a PITA to try and set up as I don't have Instagram so I gave it up as a bad job.

Yep, I think there's a transition period where you need to be on both.  Bsky is happening slowly but gradually, and Twitter/X is just getting more hideous in terms of content, Musk (if you know your Second World War history, it is pretty uncomfortable having someone that rich/powerful voicing support for hard right political leaders the way he is at the moment), and the lack of Ticker Search (due to Crypto sh1tcoins taking them over).

However there are still some great people there for niche subjects (e.g. Community Banks, Energy Royalties) so I'm reluctant to leave completely just yet.  But I continue to encourage people to make the move.

For people here, a notable draw for moving to Bsky may be the presence of Dave Waters from Alluvial/otcadventures.
