Big respect to Trump for what he has pulled off. Hopefully even his biggest detractors can see the significance in this and give credit where due.

We have several members, who are NOT Trump fans, that have shown great magnanimity and respect due to a great man for a great accomplishment.

These are fair-minded, decent and emotionally intelligent members.

Others will consistently show their undying hatred as they hate the man more than they love peace.

Debate should be about a desire to get to the truth, and nothing more.

The people I respect and pay attention to on this forum or in life generally are the ones who are intellectually honest, they can criticise a person when they do things wrong, but then are able to praise the person when they do things right.

Trump does plenty of things I don't agree with, launching a meme coin, bullying the Canadians, to name a couple, but he has also done a lot of good for the world. Today is a day he has done a lot of good, and even his harshest media critics like CNN, NY Times etc are quite universal in their praise for the achievements.

This is a case where they may praise the results but have consistently and relentlessly criticized the process right up until the end.  That is the issue and that won't change.

Fair play to Stumpy but these two will be fighting again, religious loons are going to continue to be loony.

The real war is in Ukraine and Trump has already done more damage to Ukraine given his soft actions than a ceasefire now will prevent.

Two steps back, one step forward IMO.

Not to mention...is it a peace deal or a pieces deal? Gaza is pretty much leveled, totally in pieces.

Real nice of Trump to come in after the fact, once Gaza is flattened and Netanyahu gives him the green light and the credit.

Smells like Trump just enabling another warmongering demagogue.

Typical TDS "A" Team response.... dripping with contempt and sour grapes.

It was SO simple for Trump that Europe, United Nations, Canada etc, stood by and watched thousands and thousands die without lifting a finger - and criticized Trump every step of the way - like cowardly second-guessers.

And while Trump bravely destroyed the Middle East's most dangerous nuclear program for Europe and the Middle East - world leaders could not pull themselves away from their wine and cheese parties while Gaza was leveled.  They were much too cowardly.

Trump was so brave selling $4b in weapons to Israel to help destroy Gaza. Really standing up for peace.

But I guess it was Palestinian blood well-spilled because it got Trump some nice press that his base can eat up.

Chump change, literally!

Major cities levelled? Check

Almost a million Ukrainians dead? Check

Attempt to humiliate democratically elected leader? Check

Refusing to take a strong position either way? Check

Sounds like once Russia is done, Putin will get Trump all lubed up and ready to take the credit for "peace".

More chump change for MAGA!

Good to see how insincere you were about the peace accord.  All of a sudden, after only a few months in office - both Gaza and Ukraine are "Trump's war" -

while the rest of the world's leaders did nothing for years except watch people die.

But Obama is the President that ordered US Intelligence agencies run by Clapper, Comey and Brennan to manufacture an assessment they KNEW was false  and declare that Russia assist the Trump campaign in winning the 2016 Presidential Election.

Obama --- I've shown you the man, now find me the crime.

Yeah, Obama is not in the Epstein files - but he's far more corrupt and dangerous to American Presidential Elections.

Obama is the least corrupt President in decades!  Was he more style than substance...probably.  But definitely the least corrupt of the last 6 Presidents.  Cheers!

Totally agree. He pulled off what no one else could by putting pressure on Netanyahu. No can the peace last. I think it depends a lot on what the local players are doing and if the Palestinians can extract themselves from Hamas.

Do yourself a favour and just mute LC, he’s completely lost it, and it’s not worth your valuable time.

Did I claim these were Trump's war? I don't think so.

But he is leader of the most powerful country on the globe so he can apply outsized influence - which IMO he has not done effectively. Current images of gaza and kyiv (and other ukraine cities) are evidence enough.

Happy to criticize them as well, they deserve it as I'm sure you agree!

But we both live in Trumpistan, so we are more familiar with the politics here at home.

Great idea - silence the people who disagree with your political opinion. Where have I seen that move before? 😃

You make me laugh when you didn't want Hamas to be defeated.

Sure, Israel should have just let it continue.  But the Israelis have this thing about hostages - they consider them real people that needed to be saved.  Hamas has this thing too,,,,about hiding behind their own people as human shields. Oh well, bombs away - and 70% of Gaza buildings are rubble.

So sad that Hamas would attack Israel, allow Gaza to be leveled. But when you launch thousands of rockets into your neighbor Israel - it has this way of ticking them off....

But I get you @LC --- it's all about Trump!

These were/are the same tactics used against US troops in Afghanistan. How many non-combatants did Israel kill?

As of 7 October 2025, over 70,100 people (68,172 Palestinians[4][9] and 1,983 Israelis[c]) have been reported killed in the Gaza war according to the Gaza Health Ministry (GHM) and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as 217 journalists and media workers,[46][d] 120 academics,[49] and over 224 humanitarian aid workers, a number that includes 179 employees of UNRWA.[50] Scholars have estimated 80% of Palestinians killed are civilians.[

I agree Israel needs to defend itself and sure a strong offense is the best defense, but this was borderline extermination.

So that is your excuse for Hamas using their women and children as human shields???

Why in the world would Hamas start and continue a war they could not win??

Why would Hamas hold 240 hostages???

If Hamas did not want their cities destroyed, why would they launch 20,000 rockets into Israel day after day after for 2 years?

Hamas could have released the hostages any day or stopped firing rockets or just surrendered - but they chose to fight like the fools they are.

Cry me a river.

Why do a bunch of religious loonies do crazy things? Your guess is as good as mine - on both sides.

These two have some holy war ideals going back generations, right down to their silly age-old storybooks.

I'm sure if you ask a Palestinian (not even a Hamas member) - they would point to all the atrocities of Israeli "settlers".

Why does Israel do that? Again, religious loonies.

So we have idiots on both sides. The rest of the world should leave them alone (as best we can) to change or blow each other up.

Hmmmm. Are you sure of that Cubs?

"Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, Canada has committed nearly $22 billion in multi-faceted assistance for Ukraine, including over $12.4 billion in direct financial support – the largest per capita financial contribution among G7 countries."

Are you sure of your 'facts'...........................................................

It is difficult to be polite here, but when someone shows the typical attitude SOME Americans have towards Canada and other countries, well .....

So if my previous post didn't help educate Cubs. Try the following.............

"Since 2015, through Operation (Op) UNIFIER, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) have been training the Security Forces of Ukraine (SFU)."

"Trump will figure it out for the cowards."

Canada doesn't need Donald Trump to figure out anything for us, thank you very much. And by the way it seems that per capita,  Canada has actually done more for the Ukraine than has the United States of America.

Take it easy on that Koolaid

Forgive me if I'm not impressed at all.

I have seen nothing from Canada or Europe in any efforts to settle this conflict.

And I see no desire from either to supply badly needed troops to Ukraine break a stalemate.

It's all been talk, talk, talk.

I know how pro-Canada you are - and the USA shoulders a massive amount of the blame for the Ukraine failure.  All Joe Biden did was call Putin names and issue empty threats when Putin invaded. Obama greased the skids for Putin with his empty talk and famous "red lines".

Trump is the only adult in the room trying to fix this disaster, when all the other leaders are gun ho to grow the body count, but not supply any troops of their own. More empty talk.

It remains to be seen if a ceasefire or peace is even possible - but at least one world leader will do everything he can to find peace.

Personally, I hope he walks away from Ukraine and let the European big mouths deal with it.  But I don't think that is going to happen.

Sorry Cubs, but what do you know about what Canada has or has not done regarding the Ukraine? You have no idea of what you are talking about and you are so full of crap you are simply making shit up to justify the bullshit you posted.

Do some actual research before you throw shit at other countries. It is very obvious that you have no idea of what Canada has been doing in regards to the Ukraine and I don't have the time or patience to help educate you. "Ignorance is bliss"

Guess I hit a nerve - don't have a meltdown.

I definitely know how full of shit you are @cwericb - tell your government to get to work and settle this war already.

But I do appreciate your little speech and offer to "educate me".
