whiskybravo Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 Google search: Military parades take place in other Western countries. France, for example, has the Bastille Day parade, which is one of the oldest in the world. Italy also holds a military parade to mark Republic Day. Other countries like Canada and Spain have military parades or participate in public events involving the military. I even saw that dictator Macron standing in a moving vehicle at the head of a marching army including tanks up the Champs Elysees. Even military jets, so scary.

What Trump has done with our military is simply amazing. Recruiting is off the charts, morale is up big time, DEI clowns are out and readiness is the top priority. To top it off - honoring the military with an event like this brings great recognition to our armed forces. Another brilliant move by POTUS & Hegseth.

Cubs, do you have any knowledge of world history? Have you ever read or studied the events leading up to WWII? For instance, have you read William Shirer's, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich? Just wondering.

I haven’t read the book in question, but what little I did see when looking into it, was that the author argued for a uniquely German character that laid the grounds for Hitler to successfully propagate Nazism. I don’t see the relevance here. Just being patriotic and actively pursuing policies that the left doesn’t like is not enough to make the leap to fascism/ dictator etc.

gfp Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 “Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. shocker!!

And I am very well read on WWII. Just happens to be one of my interests.

That's a hoot. Turns out, fighting men don't appreciate trannies that can't do pushups in the same showers with them. And they destested being passed over for promotion for the despicable cause of DEI. That's common sense just like the men in women's sports disaster.

I took a class in college called Modern Germany, and read quite a few books on the rise of Hitler. Can you please explain what you are driving at? I am clearly missing the analogy.
changegonnacome Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 Another TACO trade - Rates are coming down......way down.....even if the inflation data says they shouldn't.....Trump is going to appoint Ivanka Trump to be the next Fed chair (i joke)....but you get the point....Trump is going to do deal with the next Fed chair where he needs to commit to scratching this Presidents back by getting aggressive on cuts before he gets the gig. Yield curve control, real rates below inflation....the old monetary getting the fiscal out of trouble trick.

Hate to admit it but I'm older than you and also do, and have always done, a lot of reading. Perhaps see my response to Cubs. Are you familiar to the events leading up to Hitler taking over power in the '30's? All I am saying is, like it or not there are some commonalities to present day USA, but we will see how things play out. Also keep in mind that Trump was proud of his German heritage and Trump (by his own admission) had copies of Hitler's early speeches. First wife, Ivana, said he kept them by his bedside. Regarding this, Trump stated, “If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them.”
