  1. Between index fund buys, share buybacks, the TRS, and COBFers hodling (did I forget anything?), I think more and more shares are locked up, so this could stay volatile.
  2. That’s what works best for me with FFH, too.
  3. Do you have a special technique selling such an illiquid stock? Hidden orders?
  4. Warren Buffett - A LIFE AND LEGACY
  5. Sorry, fat finger.
  6. Just starting to look into ADBE, could be a no brainer. Recurring revenue, larger moat than AI fears may suggest, low valuation, growing earnings, large buybacks. Kind of reminds me of EBAY a couple of years ago.
  7. There is usually no volume on these spikes, but today was different.
  8. With a little patience and skill you could buy 3000 shares during a trading day without moving the price too much. 100 at a time, hidden orders, midpoint between the bid/ask for the most part. Whoever bought here apparently doesn't care about giving up a few %.
  9. I wonder what happened this morning, someone bought CA$ 8 million of FFH with a MOO (market on open) order and got royally screwed?
  10. Interesting idea. I assume you're looking at at the money puts and buying 10 calls for even money? So with the example of SPY, you are committing to buying 100 shares at the current price of $680, for the chance to make it big if your 10 $775 call options get closer to the strike price? Basically you take the downside risk for 6 months to get that chance, hmm.
  11. 7 years old video...
  12. The Christmas spirit did not last long, lol.
  13. With a very Fairfax heavy portfolio: in EUR 25.6% in USD 42.5% Roughly a quarter of the performance is from trading, selling puts etc., the other 3/4 from just holding all year. In the first months of the year, when BRK-A ran up ("flight to safety") and Fairfax was weak, I noticed that 500 FRFHF cost the same or less than one BRK-A share. So I did a bunch of back and forth pair trades, thinking that, as a backstop, medium term, Fairfax should outperform Berkshire. A few times I even shorted an A share to buy 500 more Fairfax for a credit (best credit: $47000). After some scalping back and forth this actually went even further against me, with one A share being up to $90000 more expensive than 500 FRFHF. So when it came back towards parity I chickened out and took profits - I mean, being short BRK-A does feel uncomfortable, and IB charges some interest on it. The last and best exit was buying back my one BRK-A share, selling 500 Fairfax, at a credit of $35000. Fast forward to today and it would be a credit of $200,000. Gotta say, the trading was exciting, but I did much more of it than I had planned. Looking to do much less in 2026.
  14. Thanks for that work @treasurehunt! I would take FRFHF for Fairfax, since it is already in USD. Its closing price 2024 was around $1400 (FFH was C$2000), not sure why you get $1513.40 with the currency conversion.
  15. TTSH funds just arrived at IB.
  16. Same. Apparently 2-4 weeks is normal in these situations (says AI). Still shows up as a corporate action at IB:
  17. Does not excuse the mistreatment, but it seems that ultimately most of these cases do have a reason. At the very end of the article: "Lara’s Instagram account, which was apparently thoroughly examined by the U.S. border control, tells the story of a woman who likes fashion, good food, and loves to travel. In the past, she even gave her online lessons from the snowy Swiss mountains, from Spain, and yes, also from New York." If your social media shows you working as a tourist in the U.S., you are asking for trouble.
  18. Answer: Yes. Closing price CA$ 2540.97. A lot of MOC volume. Congrats everyone!
  19. So what's going to be the highest price today, last trading day before index inclusion? The closing price? Asking for a friend.
  20. As far as I can tell, the $6.60 per share have not arrived yet (at IB), shares have disappeared though...
  21. Find people or give more money to people (Ted?) with a different/wider circle of competence than Warren? I did not say buy without margin of safety, just swing at slightly less fat pitches, too. Anyway, they'll do what they'll do, our guesswork does not change a thing.
  22. Only true if you if you add "within Warren's comfort zone, in terms of circle of competence and margin of safety", otherwise I don't buy this at all. I mean, 5% of Google and 5% of Microsoft and poof the cash is gone...
  23. Lol, you do have a way with words.
  24. Last trading day today it seems. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tile-shop-announces-effective-date-165800431.html I bought 2999 shares last week, curious to see if it works out as planned.
