Sounds reasonable. I have to say I've never seen a Bolt in London, maybe more in mainland Europe. Lime is pretty much the last-man-standing in London e-bikes (there's Forest, but not as popular) - will be interesting when that spins off.

Thanks, yes, I find this a decent way of looking at it. I always say you can never underestimate how hard succession is, but Todd did not seem to work. No doubt Google will go in and out of favour in time, but it still feels to me like one of the world's best businesses with a pretty strong moat (it's a verb!) and so good for BRK to own for decades.

Yes, how is one supposed to know what's OK and what's not?!

I don't disagree, however as someone said elsewhere, there is a certain absurdity that Trevor Milton has been pardoned. I feel like they belong together.

Feels like there are some really good companies on offer at prices you don't often see at the moment. I guess a lot of people are selling everything to move into Memory & Ai...

Fascinating. Fact that they are issuing shares not buying back suggests a valuation statement. Speculating, but maybe they gave Berkshire an advantageous deal on the shares, as having their name associated makes it incredibly more blue chip than it would otherwise.

Yep. I can't remember the source, but a few years ago, there was a great write-up about online marketplaces, and how hard it was to dislodge the first mover - kind of like the old Buffett newspaper classifieds. If I had more cash, & cojones, I'd have been buying them up this year while everyone thought AI was going to dislodge them. Having said that, it could still happen - Hemnet in Sweden was a Property darling, but seems to be struggling (though I think management aren't all that, and it was very expensive).

Nothing today, but Congrats to anyone who switched out of FFH into CSU in the past year!

Service Now has become a meme stock - Trump (reportedly?) has been buying, and so... well, y'know. ADSK - yes, believe the acquisition was not good (overpriced?) so poor reflection on management. Hopefully business continues well anyway - I am an interested party by proxy as an owner of a slug of RWWI. Hoping software has bottomed now (as I have enough!) - Mythos, yadda yadda - well, I'm too old to have a clue (but who does really) and have my own biases - but feel like there have been credible recent arguments that AI will improve software companies, rather than disrupt them, and that there are aspects of the business (human communication & selling, trust etc.) which AI cannot do.

This is an interesting one - I don't like Altman, but I'm with ChatGPT on this one. The prompt doesn't specify that they are going to the car wash to wash the car. Maybe they're meeting a friend there.

FFH and TNZ.

I never felt Elkann really proved his talent - the one big thing he did was get Marchionne, but actions since then have suggested to me that was luck rather than skill. But he's got a lot of people who think he's the bee's knees.

Parsad not putting Cheers! at the end of a message is like Paddington doing a Hard Stare.

Are you sure you're on the right forum?! Good luck!

Low key return of a CoBF legend!

Ha ha - yes, forgot that one. Nobody's perfect, hey? Reminds me of IBM...

Thought you might all find this interesting : feature on brokers by a well-regarded Insurance Mutual Fund here in the UK. It's their 25th anniversary, so they've done OK. https://www.polarcapital.co.uk/gb/professional/Investment-Insights/Post/18319/AI_and_the_insurance_broker_disintermediation_debate/ Separately, I find it interesting how little insider buying there has been at AJG and BRO. Though I like that a long-term BRO director bought some recently.

Ha - think it may have come out wrong! Obviously this board is going to have a lot of FFH fans (of which I am one), so it's good to have some pushback. I feel like PeteC and Parsad have tended to require a lower price / higher bar for adding (I think the rest of us have been buying on dips over the past year) so I just find it interesting when they say they're adding. I also like that there are people like you @SafetyinNumbers who have such a high weighting in it, as this makes me feel more confident in my high (if not so high) weighting. Cheers!

Ha ha - great stuff. I think of you as one of the more conservative, sober, experienced FFH people here, so I like this!

Sounds great - have a good one! Bath is fab - I'm going for a weekend at the Royal Crescent soon. If you haven't been, I recommend eating at Upstairs at Landrace (book in advance). Casual, but very charming, and delicious food. Good bakery downstairs too!

Glad you enjoyed it! That's quite the view! I've still never been up the Shard - you know how it is - you never see the sights of your own city... I did a night time viewing platform in Tokyo, which was also glorious. I have still never made it to Canada, though have two very good Canadian friends. However one's in London and one in NYC. Would be honoured to buy you a drink if you're back - I have learned so much from this extraordinary forum you have created and moderated! Cheers!

In London (I know, technically we're not 'Europe' any more, but I'm not going there...!). Summer is threatening to start and I get to walk through one of our best parks to work in the morning. Elon's Twitter tries to portray the City as a warzone, and while it's not perfect (what big city is...?) when it's good, it's still one of the great cities of the world (just added Tokyo to that list after an Easter holiday there). However, resorting to cliches, maybe this is why NA is so much more dynamic than us - no way I can be up that late or early any more (now that kids are older...). Cheers!
-
How come you guys are up so early?! (I'm in Europe so morning here).

USLM - down hard today on results.
