  1. Everytime I look at FFH - I'd default to just wanting to increase my exposure in Markel and Berkshire....
  2. Yes - agreed. The pace of buybacks has been really interesting given the decline in the stock. Capital allocation here is the best in the group IMHO ...
  3. Let's hope BNSF is able to take some market share from UNP Union Pacific also has drawn scrutiny from the Surface Transportation Board, the regulator overseeing U.S. freight railroads. The STB in December held a hearing singling out Union Pacific’s soaring use of embargoes—restrictions that rail operators place on the amount of cargo that can be transported—that the regulator said had sparked complaints from shippers and worsened supply-chain issues. https://www.wsj.com/articles/hedge-fund-seeks-ouster-of-union-pacific-ceo-cdf09e9e?mod=markets_lead_pos5 Soroban+-+Letter+to+Union+Pacific's+Board+of+Directors.pdf Soroban+-+Presentation+to+Union+Pacific's+Board+of+Directors.pdf
  4. Results were not terrible recently - but the space is totally out of favor. They keep buying back stock. It's really interesting to see how this whole space has gone out of favor over the past several quarters.
  5. Letter was unusually short and lacking detail ... even compared to the prior years...honestly, I was a little disappointed! Hope there are a bunch of negative headlines and it trades below $300 - which has always been a buy range for me.
  6. Happy Apple $AAPL Dividend Day to Warren Buffett Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway just received a dividend check for $205,881,319.79 from Tim Cook
  7. Berkshire Hathaway Is Worth How Much? BRK Valuation Masterclass
  8. @Salukiwhat is your source of the Schroeder investing book?
  9. The idea behind Marmon, PCP, and Alleghany - is that all three could do a lot of bolt on deals ... in different industries ... which are immaterial to Berkshire HQ - but overtime could be sizable to the organization. The results are still out on this - but frankly, as mini-serial acquires these have been so-so. Marmon was a solid double, PCP is mixed so far ... and Alleghany is really interesting.
  10. Who cares about any of this stuff where Jain lives?? More interesting is the recent acquisition by Marmon, but only 2 people commented about this. Buffett has said that Jain has created 'more than $50B of value at Berkshire' ... leave the gut alone and let him be!!!
  11. Thank you @gfp the idea is that Marmon, PCP, Alleghany, can do a lot of these 'bolt' on deals ... that overtime it may add up at the Berkshire level.
  12. Chris is extremely thoughtful with his time and is anchored in VALUE. I am a fanboy
  13. Terrible article - wow ... for example with SNOW and NU - BRK got in at pre-IPO prices.
  14. Looks like the 2022 Investor Day slides have been posted.
  15. He is a thoughtful analyst - and I always enjoy his commentary and valuation work. He values Berkshire the way it should be valued IMHO.
  16. Greg Warren of Morningstar put own an awesome analysis of Berkshire a few days ago!! $370 price target. Well worth the read if you can get access.
  17. Thank you @RedLion - I still dont fully understand TIPS however.
  18. Anyone looking forward to 1/1/23 to add more I Bond exposure? I've been reading that you can buy an additional $5,000 in paper-bonds with a US Tax Return. Although it is a process to convert those paper-bonds into electronic forum at Treasury Direct.
  19. No - it is likely an African or Chinese scam-site. The website needs to be shutdown ASAP.
  20. Ingersoll Rand would be an awesome company inside of BRK. Growing fast, great management, lots of possible additional smaller bolt-on deals. Very high quality company and reasonably priced.
  21. Wells Fargo Series Q. $25 par, 5.8% YTM trading at ~$23 ... bank has issues as we know, but things are improving and costs are coming down. They just raised the dividend recently as well. Bank is massively overcapitzed with limited losses and very interest rate sensitive (q/q interest income up 19%) ... if it trades back to $25, you make 16% - you wont get rich off of these, but these are extremely safe IMHO and worth it the yield pick-up when compared to treasuries
  22. Bank Preferred are very interesting ... ive been buying a bunch recently
