Is Berkshire overvalued in the near-term? Yes. Is it fun to own Berkshire? Yes. I need equity exposure, love the culture, and consider it somewhat of an honor to be a long-term shareholder. Why would I want to sell something (which could go higher on me) to buy something that I likely know a lot less about? Plus, I have a 10+ year view with Berkshire, and am up a massive amount. I view Berkshire as the most safe business I know of. -

@alpha thanks for sharing! Timing could have been a lot better for BRK and he could have done this or that instead! PCP was willing to be sold and BRK hadnt done a big deal in many years!! At the time PCP's stock was depressed so it seemed like a reasonable deal. I believe Combs lead the deal actually. BRK also had low exposure to the sector overall. I think with the fullness of time this will turnout to be an OK deal for BRK. Would have been awesome if they acquired HEICO - but the family is not selling -

I didnt sell any OTM calls actually! Can you give an example of a cash covered put on BRKB that you recently sold, what premium, strike, and expiration? Do you just have the cash sitting in T-Bills or something? -
@SafetyinNumbers helpful! But isn't all insurance just commoditized at somepoint? Have you looked at KNSL in-depth?
-
why would anyone buy Kinsale Capital (NYSE: KNSL) at 7x p/b, when you can get FRFHF at 1.1x p/b, and 8x? I get they are different types of insurance companies - but to me, the amount of optionality with FRFHF vs. these E&S compounders is material. KNSL doesnt have anything close to the equity and fixed income portfolio that FRFHF has. Plus FRFHF is aggressively buying back stock ... KNSL is not. Mr. Market gone made.

You can sell some slightly OTM calls on BRKB at the $530 strike - expiring this Friday and collect some interesting premiums. Basically unless you think the stock will move 3%-5% by the end of the week, its interesting. No position currently but looking given the outperformance here and equity rally over the last 2 days. -

Bought some Fairfax after reading Prem's letter $1352 USD, and bought some FTAI at $98
-
US ADR holder here - love the letter ... really enjoyed the section on the treasury shares...read that twice. Seems very Constellation like. 11.6% over 10yrs with dividends and buybacks ... plus some opportunistic buys/sells is a homerun in this market

NEW!!!!!!! -
Interesting WSJ article - thank you for sharing. I looked at PLTR when it fell from like $30 (IPO) down to $6 as a speculative tech play. Ofc I didnt purchase it - which was a huge mistake. Now the valuation is a total bubble. 50x revenue ... last few companies who saw this sort of valuation in the 2021-2022 timeframe quickly declined -50% or so .... and Karp is selling billions of stock. So there is that.

I bought some Booking - BKNG ($5,000). I'm amazed at their capital return program. Forcing myself to better follow the company.
