  1. I joined the party as well. Hopefully the kool aid is light and sweet.
  2. Woof
  3. Problem is the show just sucks now. The characters have become caricatures and the plot is redundant. The show was over once Damian Lewis left and frankly it lasted a season too long with that. Fun fact is Paul Giamatti bought a townhouse in my old hood for a mil or two back in the day. I don’t blame him for sticking around, gotta pay off that mortgage I suppose!
  4. If you've got a bottle of Carpano, I'd suggest the Del Professore bianco (white) vermouth. You can use it interchangeably and I actually prefer it to a red vermouth as it's a little lighter and brighter.
  5. Agreed. Find something you like, figure a reasonable valuation, and see what the puts sell for at that price. A few weeks ago someone paid me $7.50 to sell me Adobe for $260 in October. I wimped it up and didn't go in hard enough. But that was a screamer. Was buying MSFT also @ ~270 with the proceeds. Merger arb is a whacky one and I trade around it because I never know if the deal is going to close or not.
  6. Try Del Professore. I prefer it to Carpano in my negronis.
  7. We’ve had a almost a half century of tech companies from the 80s thru today - companies which prioritized the virtual world. It’s been two, three generations of humans who saw technology as the next stage forward. maybe the next half century returns to the analog world? Companies like Airbnb, live nation, and such whose value prop is offering a polished human experience?
  8. Spek, are you unwinding your defense trades?
  9. It's all detailed in his best selling book "America's Coming Bankruptcy" ... Published in 2014
  10. Sold adobe puts - Oct'22 - 260 strike.
  11. Or tax the windfall gains of politicians. I'm sure that will pass.
  12. Yeah the big question here is how much can they grow. Particularly if we see more wireless and satellite networks being built out - this could provide future competition that I am not sure garmin could manage outside of dropping prices.
  13. Sorry, have been a bit busy eating freedom fries covered with melanin-rich sauce and vegan Kurds. In all seriousness, some people do seem to go out of their way to feel offended…and anyone changing the name of a delicious food (which was at one point the base of my hungover food pyramid, along with Schwartz’s) because of a dictator is a dumbass.
  14. I saw that too. What do u think longer term, Greg? Revenues are defendable?
  15. I wish I had. I sold puts when BRK dipped below 300, but the better move would have been to also go long.
  16. To allude to what Greg said earlier I think the best hedges are good undervalued companies that would be a decent investment on their own, AND also would benefit from whatever situation you are trying to bet against. So you give yourself multiple ways to potentially win under various scenarios.
  17. Threw some money into existing positions this morning, disney, atlas, davita, fairfax, citi. bought some joe also given the good results. sold puts on berkshire and dominos. also bought Sberbank around 2.6 as a joke.
  18. Just saw a sponsored ad on yahoo finance “Nostradamus frightening predictions for 2022”
  19. Same although I closed out the position 30 min later for a 50% gain. Bored trading I guess. Also bought FB stock though, I plan to hold that.
  20. Took some trading profits Starter position is good ole Disney Also curious re: the previous comment on Belpointe OZ re tax deductions. Per their whitepaper you can invest capital gains realized from any investment from the prior 180 days, into OZ, and claim a tax deduction on those - not realizable for the lesser of 10 years or when you sell OZ? Why not take all my cap gains over the last 5 months of 2021 - buy OZ for that amount, sell OZ a few days later, and defer that entire taxable amount to 2022? Could I then repeat the process in another 180 days? wp here: https://belpointeoz.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Opportunity-Knocks-White-Paper-1.22.2022.pdf
  21. Yesterday I freed up some cash and today I pulled a Greg (bought PSTH as a cash sub with upside optionality) Past week or so I've been picking at things, generally in order of size: MSFT under and around 280 Berkshire under 300 Bought some T in the 24s The RE plays everyone loves (CLPR<9, AIV<7, MSGS<70) C around 60 Bought some damn SNC that Dazel and Gabe love although I may eat my hat there A bunch of stuff I flipped intraday 2 days ago when the market swung like +/- 7% in a few hours. Pretty much my strategy is: wake up, if the market is tanking, try and buy some quality stuff. Go skiing for a few hours. Come back, if the market is now up 5%, sell half that stuff. If not, wait till tmrw.
  22. First, buy enough drugs cigarettes and alcohol and go skiing. Then, go long long long every superstock that the rest of u all shorted
  23. Their products are decent but pricey as hell. That said I'm an audiophile who can squeeze a penny so I probably shouldn't be projecting that onto their customer base. My buddy spend like 3k on sonos equipment for his spot, just because it's the easiest platform for whole home audio (with actual speakers - not counting amazon/google home devices)
  24. Yep. Either their inside information isn’t that good, or they don’t execute on it well. So who cares?
