For a moment I thought Buffett was honouring T&T when he said he wanted to note a 10 year anniversary when he placed 10% of company investment …. Nah … Tim Apple

I think it’s clear Buffett has a lot of admiration for how Tim managed Apple post Jobs, and I think he would like if Greg followed a similar model.  Focus on the core businesses, maintain a Fortress balance sheet, buybacks, and bolt on acquisitions. I doubt he thinks Greg needs to make a big swing on a large equity purchase or acquisition unless we see another GFC type draw down or something that serves up a can’t miss opportunity.

My hope is that Greg doesn't make Ajit wear shoulder pads next year. 🙂

Thanks for all the notes and comments about the meeting. Much appreciated

+1

I think Buffett's way of saying to Berkshire faithful, "Don't worry; things will work out ok from here."

Disappointing to see so many comments focused about Ajit's suit.

The man's an insurance genius, show some respect.

I can grab a meth head off the street and put them in a tailored five piece suit, you want them running the insurance business instead?!

Overall, I thought the meeting was great.  Detailed discussion about the businesses.  The company is in good hands with Greg and team.

I really like that he is bringing other managers up to the stage. I feel like putting them in the light and being recognized could drive greater performance. Money only drives people for so far.

Thank you for sharing all your Berkshire Hathaway AGM stuff here on CofB&F, Tilman [ @good-investing ] ! 😎😉

My pleasure! It was a great meeting this year. Less people, but more depth and a ton of quality! 😊

Sanjeev and Cassius,

I apologize.  I think the world of Ajit and the rest of the Berkshire team.  His comments and depth of knowledge were and are amazing.  I simply thought it looked like he had football shoulder pads on under his suit every once in a while during the meeting. It was just a joke, but obviously didn't come across that way. My fault.

Often when in the company of those who aren't aware of my condition or a condition such as mine I will simply quickly state, "So if you see me holding my wine or beer with two hands it's because my tremors are bad today."  As you'd expect if there are a bunch of young people around a few will instantly think you have leprosy and immediately run for the exit.  Others, the older bunch, generally already have their set of in process body failures and appreciate the alert so they aren't wondering what the heck is going on.  For me it is a non-event, not the slightest bit embarrassing at all.

I kind of like that his suit isn’t perfect. I hope he got it on sale and that he drove to the meeting in a Hyundai and stayed at a Motel 6 the night before.

As Warren always liked to remind people, and it's probably true for Ajit as well, "I buy expensive suits.  They just look cheap on me."

Warren and Ajit operate on the telephone.  They can do it in a sweatsuit for all I care

💯

I was hugely impressed by Ajit's intellect, clarity of thought, wit & wisdom at the AGM. No wonder Warren thinks so highly of Ajit! What a treasure for Berkshire!!
