Hate to say it, but many young men are losers now, no professional perspectives, can’t buy a home ,no dates , no sex. I think this is one reason why they skew MAGA.

From the article you linked:

"In 2024 47% of American women ages 25-34 had a bachelor’s degree, according to Pew, compared with 37% of men"

In a society that's more and more information/knowledge based instead of muscle/labor-based, it's reasonable to see how lack of knowledge/information acquisition can lead to reduced allocation of society output.  For those that do not adapt to this reality would be swimming against the current, or at least they would need to find a smaller niche/pond to survive in.  For those that choose to adapt, the pond is big, and growing wider.

This is a relatively new phenomenon, but if this trend were to continue, I can see the forces of natural selection at play, and it will start weeding out those that choose not to adapt.  We have such a costly brain, evolutionary speaking, and it's purpose, IMHO, is to allow for quick adaptations without going through the generational cost of evolution to adapt.  We're born with a pretty good tool for adaptation, and am paying for it already, so we might as well use it.

For those that advocate going back to the way it was, I'd like to hear your opinion on the Handmaid's Tale, and how that might work as a sustainable economic model.

These DEI mandates sure are tiresome.

I just wonder how they are going to keep up with all the cuts in the education dept

It's almost as if Idiocracy was a documentary.

It's also as if DEI is bad except when it's not.

I’m all for the concept of Doge… as most people I talk with are. But a scalpel does a much better job than the private equity “ slash and burn” method

These DEI programs are institutional racism.  They are helping to destroy our Universities.

The schools will continue to rename and hide these programs until they are busted.

My sons state college (Umass Amherst) in on the list. I have no idea why. I followed what happened there and IMO there is no evidence of antisemitic discrimination there from the Umass leadership whatsoever.

Are we becoming a totalitarian state where free speech isn’t allowed any more?

I also found this article where a young Russian scientist (who fled Russia)  was detained by ICE and is threatened to be sent back to a Russia because she did not declare frog embryos at customs?

I guess ICE is just looking for excuses to detain and expel people now.

They probably have quotas to meet, in which case who or why might not matter.

Haven't heard much from the "free speech absolutist" crowd in a while.

Yeah they are pushing the envelope and slowly dismantling any pushback. They’ve attacked the universities and the big law firms. They are currently focused on immigrants or folks here on legal visas but that will quickly change to everyone. No justification, no due process off to the El Salvador prison or the Louisiana detention center…

The universities are teetering on the brink.  Many are likely to be broken. Their funding will be pulled as they allow the harassment of Jewish students or contination of DEI policies/CRT.

It will be a fight to make them centers of education again - but the DOJ, State Department are not fooling around anymore with law breakers.

Radicals that come here to "study" will no longer be allowed to harass Jewish students and demostrate their support for HAMAS.

They will be kicked out, as they should be. They are "guests" not citizens.

lol yeah without due process…banana republic

Guests are granted Visas to study, not break the law and intimidate/harrass other students.

They can do that in Gaza or Syria or Turkey.

Illegals immigrants are here illegally, just as surely as if your neighbor came in your front door and made himself at home over your objection.

Yeah and if there is no due process than if u don’t like the color of my hair cause it offends u I get deported but the official reason is im an enemy of the state. But yeah sad sad state of affairs

When you have a rude/despicable guest in your house, you ask them to leave - if that fails, you forcibly remove them.  IF they hate Americans, they can go back to the country they love and protest/threaten/break all the laws they want. Good riddance to them.

I know it's hard for you guys but try to keep the political back and forth on the threads labeled 'Political' so the rest of us can ignore it.  Peace

that’s not what I’m talking about and not the situation I’m referring to at the universities

I don’t know if you are referring to me or others. If talking about a lack of due process is political then I will stop. If the topic of universities is political then I will avoid.

just would like some clarity on what or who you are referring to

Speaking of banana republics, I saw this at a local festival today. It was chilling.

The movie didn't cover Cheeto wannabe Jair Bolsonaro, but Brasilian prosecutors are certainly all over him.

https://www.npr.org/2025/03/26/nx-s1-5341507/bolsonaro-brazil-trial-coup-attempt

Bolsonaro has repeatedly praised the military dictatorship and said Paiva got what he deserved.

South Korea's appears to be taking care of business too.

The pitchforks will come out in the US when stagflation digs in.
